Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui strategi yang digunakan oleh penerjemah dalam menerjemahkan ekspresi metafora yang terdapat dalam filem Harry Potter and the Goblet of Firei. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dimana data tersebut dijelaskan secara deskriptif. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner dan analisis dokumen. Dalam menganalisis strategi yang digunakan oleh penerjemah dalam menerjemahkan ekspresi metaforis, peneliti menggunakan teori Larson (1984). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat strategi yang diterapkan oleh penerjemah dalam menerjemahkan metafora. Mereka Metafora diterjemahkan kedalam metaphora, (10 data), metafora diterjemahkan kedalam Simile (1 data). Metafora diterjemahkan kedalam term yang sama dengan bahasa target (1 data) and metafora diterjemahkan kedalam non-kiasan(7 data). Kata Kunci : metafora, penerjemahan, strategi penerjemahan. The aim of this study is to find the strategies used by the translator in translating the metaphorical expressions in Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire movie. This study is qualitative study in which the data were analyzed descriptively. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire and document analysis. In analyzing the strategies used by the translator in translating the metaphorical expression, the researcher used Larson’s theory (1984). The result shows that there are four strategies applied by the translator in translating the metaphorical expressions. They are The Metaphor is maintained (10 data), Translating the Metaphor as Simile (1 data) 3). Substitute the Metaphor with Similar Term in Target Language (1 data), Translating the Metaphor without Keeping the Metaphorical Imagery (7 data). keyword : metaphor, translation strategies, translation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan 1) untuk mengetahui jumlah fonem, termasuk jumlah vokal, diftong, dan konsonan, 2) untuk menyelidiki proses fonologi dalam bahasa tersebut. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti, dan instrument lain yang digunakan adalah alat rekam, daftar kata, dan daftar kalimat. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan 28 fonem termasuk 6 vokal, 3 diftong dan 19 konsonan. Sebagai tambahan, peneliti juga menemukan 2 gugus konsonan dalam dialek yang digunakan di Kecicang Islam. Dari empat tipe proses fonologis berdasarkan teori Schane (1973), ditemukan 2 tipe proses fonologis dalam dilak Kecicang Islam, yaitu penambahan konsonan dan penambahan vokal. Sedangkan berdasarkan Jendra (1976), ditemukan 3 proses fonologis dalam dialek Kecicang Islam, yakni asimilasi regresif, struktur kata, dan variasi bebas.Kata Kunci : dialek, kecicang islam, sistem fonologis This study was a descriptive study which aimed 1) To find out the number of phonemes, including the vowels, diphthong, and consonant in Balinese language used in Kecicang Islam village, 2) To explore the phonological process within the language exists in Balinese language used in Kecicang Islam village. The main instrument was the researcher, and the researcher also used the other instruments namely, recorder, sentence list and word list. The researcher found that there are 28 phonemes, consist of 6 vowels, 3 diphthongs and 19 consonants. The researcher also found 2 consonant clusters in KID. Among the four types of phonological process according to Schane’s theory (1973) there are two types of phonological process found by the researcher in KID, that are consonant insertion and vowel insertion. Meanwhile, according to Jendra, there are three phonological processes found in KID, that are regressive assimilation, syllable structure, and free variation.keyword : dialect, kecicang islam, phonological system

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi penggunaan tehnik Think Talk Write dan Mind Mapping dalam menulis paragraf deskriptif untuk kelas delapan di SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian perbandingan. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampling acak sebagai tehnik menentukan sampel. Kelompok 1 diajarkan dengan menggunakan tehnik Think Talk Write dan Kelompok 2 diajarkan menggunakan tehnik Mind Mapping. Data dari penelitian ini didapat dari melakukan tes tulis. Nilai rata-rata kelompok 1 = 86.0, sedangkan kelompok 2 = 75.6. Kemudian data terseut di analisis menggunakan formula uji t. Hasil test menunjukkan bahwa nilai Sig. = 0.605, lebih tinggi dari 0.05. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 (tobs = 7.375). Ini menunjukkan Sig. (2-tailed) kurang dari tingkat alpha standar yaitu 0.05. Jadi, hipotesa alternatif diterima. Ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada penggunaan tehnik Think Talk Write dan Mind Mapping tehnik dalam menulis paragraf deskriptif. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran kolaboratif memberikan efek yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa.Kata Kunci : mind mapping, pembelajaran kolaboratif, think talk write This study aimed to investigate the use of Think Talk Write and Mind Mapping technique of teaching writing descriptive text to the eighth-grade students of SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. The study was a comparative study. This study uses cluster random sampling as the sampling technique. The group 1 was taught by using Think Talk Write technique and the group 2 was taught by using Mind Mapping technique. The data of the test were collected by administering a written test. The mean score of group 1 = 86.0, while the group 2 = 75.6. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis shows that Sig. value is 0.605, it was higher than 0.05. Abstract

Social networks sites adalah online platform yang dapat digunakan untuk mendukung proses belajar mengajar di era global ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan social networks sites sebagai media pembelajaran dalam memfasilitasi pelajaran menulis bahasa Inggris di SMA dan SMK di Buleleng. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian campuran. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan kuesioner, melakukan wawancara dan observasi. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 13 guru bahasa Inggris dari 11 sekolah dan juga 110 siswa dari seluruh sebelas sekolah. Data menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan social networks sites sangat bermanfaat bagi guru dan siswa. Hal itu ditunjukkan dari persepsi guru dan persepsi siswa terhadap pelaksanaan social networks sites dikategorikan dalam tinggi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa guru dan siswa menggunakan berbagai macam social networks sites dalam pembelajaran menulis dan juga mempunyai persepsi yang tinggi terhadap penggunaan social networks sites.Kata Kunci : Social networks sites, Media Pembelajaran, Menulis Bahasa Inggris. Social networks sites are an online platforms that can be used to support teaching and learning process in this global era. This study aims at describing the use of social networks sites as teaching media in facilitating English writing lesson in senior high schools and vocational high schools in Buleleng. This study uses mix-methods approach. The data were collected by giving questionnaires, doing an interview and observation. The respondents in this study were 13 English teachers from 11 high schools also 110 students from the entire eleven schools. The data shows that the use of social networks sites is very beneficial for the teacher and students. Meanwhile, teacher and students’ perception toward the implementation of social networks sites is categorized in high category. It can be concluded that teachers and students use various social networks sites in writing lesson as well as they have high perception towards the implementation social networks sites.keyword : Social Networks Sites, Teaching Media, English Writing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menivestigasi apakah ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi “PLEASE” dan siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi menulis konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain Post-test Only Control Group. Populasi terdiri dari siswa kelas sepuluh SMA Negeri 1 Sukasada pada tahun ajaran 2016/2017 dengan 44 siswa sebagai sample yang dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan writing competency test. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan t-test yang dibantu dengan SPSS 19.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi “PLEASE” dan siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi menulis konvensional (tobs = 12.506, p < 0.05) dimana pencapaian siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi “PLEASE” lebih baik dalam kemampuan menulis dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi menulis konventional. Kata Kunci : kemampuan menulis, strategi “PLEASE”, strategi menulis konvensional. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan jenis-jenis tindak tutur yang diucapkan oleh guru selama kegiatan belajar mengajar, bagaimana tindak tutur diwujudkan dalam komunikasi pengajaran, dan fungsi pedagogik dari tindak tutur. Subjek penelitian ini adalah dua orang guru SMA Negeri 1 Seririt. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara. Data dianalisis menggunakan Miles and Huberman analisis data interaktif. Temuan penelitian menunjukan bahwa guru hanya menggunakan empat tindak tutur berupa directives, commisives, representatives, dan expressives dalam proses belajar mengajar. Dari 134 ucapan, guru mengucapkan 65% directives, 5.2% commisives, 18.6% representatives, and 11.2% expressives. Ada tiga fungsi pedagogik dari tindak tutur guru, yaitu kontrol, organisasi, dan motivasi. Tindak tutur directives, declaratives, dan commisives berfungsi sebagai kontrol dan organisasi, tindak tutur representatives berfungsi sebagai kontrol dan evaluatif, tindak tutur expressives berfungsi untuk memotivasi. Kata Kunci : Fungsi pedagogik, proses belajar mengajar, tindak tutur This study was intended to describe and explain kinds of speech acts produced by the English teachers during teaching and learning process, how speech acts were realized in instructional communication, and pedagogical functions of speech acts. The subjects of the study were two English teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Seririt. This study was a qualitative study. The data were collected through observation and interview. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman interactive data analysis. The findings show that there were only four types of speech acts performed by the teachers, namely representatives, directives, expressives, and commissives. From 134 utterances, the teachers produced 65% directives, 5.2% commisives, 18.6% representatives, and 11.2% expressives. There were three pedagogical functions of the teachers’ speech acts, namely control, organization, and motivation. Directives and commisives speech acts were functioned as control and organizational function, representatives speech acts were functioned as control and evaluative functions, expressives speech acts was functioned as motivational function.keyword : Pedagogical functions, speech acts, teaching and learning process

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki apakah terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari project-based learning terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas sebelas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 3 Singaraja dalam bentuk penelitian eksperimen dengan Post-Test only Control Group Design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah 329 siswa kelas sebelas yang dibagi menjadi 10 kelas. Dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling, terdapat dua kelas yang terdiri dari 30 siswa dan 31 siswa yang diputuskan sebagai sampel dari penelitian ini. Kedua sampel tersebut kemudian dipilih secara acak untuk menjadi kelompok eksperimen (memperoleh perlakuan dengan project-based learning) dan kelompok kontrol (memperoleh perlakuan dengan metode konvensional). Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes kemampuan menulis. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisa secara deskriptif dan inferensial dengan menggunakan t-test dibantu dengan SPSS 22.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari project-based learning terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas sebelas di SMA Negeri 3 Singaraja dimana siswa yang diajar menggunakan project-based learning menunjukkan kemampuan menulis yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan metode konvensional.Kata Kunci : project-based learning, kemampuan menulis This study was aimed at investigating whether there was a significant effect of project-based learning on the eleventh grade students’ writing achievement. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bahasa kasar yang digunakan oleh remaja di Kecamatan Seririt. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah remaja di kecamatan Seririt yang melakukan percakapan berdasarkan dua domain yaitu, keluarga dan pertemanan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang memberikan gambaran tentang bahasa kasar yang digunaan oleh dua domain di Kecamatan Seririt. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan observasi partisipasi dimana peneliti menjadi bagian dari penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dua domain yaitu keluarga dan pertemanan tidak mempengaruhi bahasa kasar yang digunakan oleh remaja. Peneliti menemukan 16 bahasa kasar yang digunakan di Kecamatan Seririt. Bahasa kasar itu di kelompokkan menjadi kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan religi, kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan seks, kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan kotoran, kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan nama-nama binatang, kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan latar belakang pribadi, kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan penyakit mental dan kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan aktivitas seks. Kecamatan Seririt mempunyai kata pirata sebagai kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan religi, 4 kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan seks: naskleng/kleng, peletan, celak, teli, 2 kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan kotoran: sien teli, tai, 2 kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan nama-nama binatang: cicing, bojog, 2 kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan latar belakang pribadi: bencong, sundel, 2 kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan penyakit mental: lengeh, buduh, kata-kata yang berhubungan dengan aktivitas seks: ngangkuk/mekatuk. Kata Kunci : Penelitian deskriptif, bahasa kasar, remaja di kecamatan Seririt. The study aimed at describing the swear words that were used by the teenagers in Seririt district. The subjects of the study were teenagers in Seririt district who conversing in two domains namely family and friendship. This study is descriptive study which gives description of the swear words that were used by two domains in Seririt district. Data were collected through observation technique. This study used participate observation where the researcher was being part of the study. Results of the study showed that two domains did not influence the way teenagers used the swear words. The researcher obtained 16 swear words that were used by teenagers in Seririt district. Those swear words were comprised into words related to religious, words related to sex, words from excrement, words from name of animal, words related to personal background, words from mental illness, words related to sex activities. Seririt district has pirata as words related to religious, 4 words related to sex: naskleng/kleng, peletan, celak, teli, 2 words from excrement: sien teli, tai, 2 words from name of animal: cicing, bojog, 2 words related to personal background: bencong, sundel, 2 words from mental illness: lengeh, buduh, words related to sex activities: ngangkuk/mekatuk.keyword : Descriptive study, swear words, teenagers in Seririt district.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kategori interaksi kelas yang muncul di kelas 8 SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja berdasarkan Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System, dan pengaruh dari interaksi kelas di antara guru dan murid terhadap pencapaian siswa. Subyek penelitian adalah seorang guru dan 37 siswa kelas VIII 14; 19 orang laki-laki dan 18 orang perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang dalam bentuk observasi tanpa partisipasi. Data yang terkumpul adalah ucapan yang dikatakan oleh guru dan siswa serta tingkah laku selama proses belajar-mengajar. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) kategori deals with feeling muncul 9 kali, kategori praises or encourages muncul 35 kali, kategori jokes muncul 5 kali, kategori uses idea of students muncul 10 kali, kategori repeats student response verbatim muncul 33 kali, kategori asks question muncul 81 kali, kategori gives information muncul 58 kali, kategori corrects without rejection muncul 16 kali, kategori gives direction muncul 12 kali, kategori criticizes student behavior muncul 3 kali, kategori criticizes student response muncul 10 kali, kategori student response-specific muncul 123 kali, kategori student response open-ended or student-initiated muncul 106 kali, kategori silence muncul 14 kali, kategori silence-audiovisual (AV) tidak muncul, kategori confusion work oriented muncul 10 kali, kategori confusion non work-oriented muncul 6 kali, kategori laughter muncul 8 kali, kategori uses the native language muncul 232 kali, dan kategori nonverbal muncul 15 kali; (2) interaksi cenderung bersifat dialogis; (3) dampak dari interaksi kelas terhadap pencapaian siswa adalah signifikan karena terdapat kenaikan dari pencapaian siswa yang terukur oleh guru.Kata Kunci : interaction, classroom interaction, Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System The study aimed at analyzing the classroom interaction category occurred at eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja based on Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System, and the impact of classroom interaction between teacher and students towards students’ achievement. The subjects of the study were a teacher and 37 students of VIII 14 class; 19 were male and 18 were female. This study employed qualitative approach in the form of nonparticipant observation. The data gathered was the utterances produced by the teacher and the students as well as the behavior during teaching-learning process. The result of the study showed that: (1) deals with feeling occurred 9 times, praises or encourages occurred 35 times, jokes occurred 5 times, uses idea of students occurred 10 times, repeats student response verbatim occurred 33 times, asks question occurred 81 times, gives information occurred 58 times, corrects without rejection occurred 16 times, gives direction occurred 12 times, criticizes student behavior occurred 3 times, criticizes student response occurred 10 times, student response-specific occurred 123 times, student response open-ended or student-initiated occurred 106 times, silence occurred 14 times, silence-audiovisual (AV) did not occur, confusion work oriented occurred 10 times, confusion non work-oriented occurred 6 times, laughter occurred 8 times, uses the native language occurred 232 times, and nonverbal occurred 15 times; (2) the interaction tended to be dialogic; (3) the impact of classroom interaction towards students’ achievement was significant as there was an increase of students achievement measured by the teacher.keyword : interaction, classroom interaction, Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System

Abstract

Penelitian dan pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi fungsi bahasa yang digunakan dalam mengembangkan materi kosa kata dwi bahasa yang praktis untuk pemandu wisata lokal di objek wisata desa Sambangan (2) menjelaskan bentuk yang digunakan dalam mengembangkan materi kosa kata dwi bahasa yang praktis untuk pemandu wisata lokal di objek wisata desa Sambangan, (3) mengukur kualitas dari materi yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini terdiri dari enam fase: (a) mengidentifikasi potensi dan masalah, (b) mengumpulkan data, (c) mendesain produk, (d) validasi desain, (e) uji coba produk, dan (f) revisi produk. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah checklist, penilaian ahli, dan angket. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah materi kosa kata dwi bahasa yang praktis. Isi materi dikembangkan berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan dari pemandu wisata lokal di objek wisata desa Sambangan. Materi kosa kata dwi bahasa yang praktis didesain dalam bentuk buku yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan penilaian ahli dan angket. Hasil keseluruhan nilai tengah dari penilaian ahli adalah 4.67. Hasil keseluruhan nilai tengah dari angket adalah 4.95. Berdasarkan hasil penilaian ahli dan angket, kualitas produk ini dapat dikategorikan sangat bagus.Kata Kunci : dwi bahasa, pembentuk kosa kata yang praktis, pemandu wisata lokal This research and development study aimed at (1) identifying the language functions which are needed in developing practical bilingual vocabulary building material for the local guides in Sambangan village tourism object, (2) describing the prototype of developing practical bilingual vocabulary building material for the local guides in Sambangan Village tourism object, and (3) measuring the quality of the developed material. This research consisted of six phases: a) identifying potency and problem, b) collecting data, c) designing the product, d) validating design, e) administering product validity test, and f) revising product. The instruments of this research were checklist, expert judgment form, and questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of this research was a practical bilingual vocabulary building material. The content of the material was developed based on the need analysis of the local guides in Sambangan village tourism object. The practical bilingual vocabulary building material was designed in form of a book which was analyzed by using the expert judgment form and questionnaire. The total mean score of expert judgment form was 4.67. The total mean score of questionnaire was 4.95. Based on the result of expert judgment form and questionnaire, the quality of the product was excellent. keyword : bilingual material, local guides, practical vocabulary building
