Abstract

The condition of Indonesian social life in the last decade is very crucial. Frequently the group-conflict happens, either between social or ethnic groups or between students or the young one another. Uncontrolled moral ethics and drugs in them are also in serious condition. To overcome such problems, we need an educational program of character building or revitalization of character education. Thus in place and reasonable that all providers of education institutions and students of education, busy thinking about it, how efforts to improve the character of the nation through the revitalization of character education is to be implemented in educational institutions. The revitalization of character education is implemented in integrated and holistic approach, not as a school subject. Thus, most of them who are involved within the program must be a model of a good character as stated in the national norm which is based on Pancasila culture. Besides, they work together holistically, in integrative way, and comprehensively. Purpose of this literature review is to examine the role of teaching Social Studies, History, and Civics in an effort to build the character generation using qualitative methods and take the kind of library research. The results from the literature review showed that while there is a great role of teaching Social Studies, History, and Civics to participate and build the character of the generation of reliable and virtuous character.

Abstract

One of the seven fatal sins of education without character is the expression of Mahatma Gandhi on the importance of character education. This is because (1) the world is changing, (2) increasing the attidute of selfishness an a violence of the rights of people to commit violence against others, (3) the attitude of students has changed. Historically , the current character education is a complement of education formula itself has not been effective. For the core value that needs to be explored  is used as the formula of the formation of character values , announced the Ministry of Educational Education. Haya can  be used as core values because may  hadits that reveal the definition, process and impact. This discussion is a discussion paradigmatik remains controversial give the meaning of haya.

Abstract

Character of moral excellence or akhlaq is built upon various virtues which in turn has significant meaning when founded on values applicable in the national culture. Indonesian national character for the citizen is based on the measures assessed as a virtue constituted on the prevailing values ​​in society and the Indonesia as nation. Hence, the Education of National Character and Culture is directed on efforts in developing wisdom founding values so to mold the personality of citizens. The learning process of National Character and Culture Education deployed through an active learning process. Principally, value development is to be actively utilized by participant (as a self-subject of receiving, employing as self own and deploying the learnt values as basis of each action) therefore their position as active subjects in learning is the main principle of active learning. Thus both parts are necessary to each other.

Abstract

Character building is an urgent need for Indonesia, specifically in improving the characters of current youth. Character education in the Islamic perspective equate as moral. As Holy Qur'an being the foundation of Islam in all areas of life including on the question of morality; God in His Word, which means "And truly you are (Muhammad) of noble character." Therefore it may also be concluded that Prophet Muhammad, was sent to earth no other but to meliorate the human kind. Thus, the character education in the Islamic perspective is necessary, especially in Islamic educational institutions. Hence, from a variety of issues related to morality, the Islamic educational institutions are ideally capable of implementing the character education within perspective of Islam in the form of honesty, a sense of responsibility, intelligence improvement, with attention to health and hygiene, as well as awareness and creativity.

Abstract

The reality of the conflict in educational institutions is a necessity. Critical policy management institution established in the handling of the conflict affected the development of insight and thought construction personnel organization. Carefully in view of the conflict to the attention of the fundamental management of educational institutions. Simultaneous development of thought in the handling of the conflict must be continuously updated. The fundamental reason of that is the conflict evolved into a symbol of the rich meanings and diverse interpretations. Democracy, growth, and self-actualization is a factor inherent in the interpretation of the conflict in the world of education. Therefore, this paper offers a critical examination of conflict in the world of education as a part in building a solid educational institutions.

Abstract

The Minister of national education and The Minister of religious affair have decreed that the teacher must have a certain academic qualification and competencies, and teacher certification if he/she wants to become a professional teacher. Beside that, the academic competencies of teacher and its certification have to appropriate with the competencies standard of curriculum in the school. So, the institution of  educational manpower education  in the Islamic higher education (IHE) has to be able to realize the policies by conducting  the curriculum innovation  based on the policies of  education and the needs of stake holders and the religious  character of  IHE.   There are seven model of  innovation can be used  (i) incremental, (ii) radical, (iii) modular, (iv) architectural, (v) top-down model,  (vi) bottom-up model, and (vii)  model of N-3; niteni, niroake  and nambahake. The process of innovation include;  (i) recognizing a problem or need, (ii) research, (iii) development, (iv) commercialization, (v) deffusion and adoption, dan (vi) conceguences. The approaches of curriculum innovation are (i) produktive, (ii) humanistic, (iii) democration, (iv) clasic, (v) romantic, and (vi) modern. The strategies  in curriculum innovation are  the rational-Empirical Strategy, the normal-Reeducative Strategy, and the  Power-Coercive Strategy.

Abstract

Islamic Education at first period was showed its superiority. It was proved by the emergency of superior, dinamic and creative generation. The generation from companions of the prophet, tabi’in and tabi’it tabiin are a sturdy generation, have a high comitment for moral values of Islam. Whereas on the pre-modern, Islam was suffered a decrease. Its quite alarming setback. Its period of deteriorate. This periode was identified as time of the demise of the Islamic struggle. So, education was not incised achievement then previous generations.

Abstract

Teaching supervision is always required to improve the quality of teaching and learning processes in schools or madrasah. Actually, supervision activities is creating a vehicle for supervisors and teachers to exchange ideas, sharing knowledge and sharing experiences. This article critically examines the concept, characters and rational teaching supervision in SWOT analysis review. Supervision aims to teach teachers how to guidance which includes; purposes, materials, techniques, methods, approaches, environment and so on. Based on the SWOT analysis, supervision can create opportunities and power through the; development activities need to be encouraged more intensive and structured, reach the opportunities that exist from government policy programs, following the guidance activities in order to improve their skills. Schools can establish cooperation with related agencies for the development of professional skills of teachers, follow the teachings and training to increase insight and knowledge that are relevant to the task of teaching. Meanwhile, anticipation of the challenges and weaknesses, through; establish cooperation with other agencies to provide the opportunity for teachers to get further guidance, engage the teacher in the whole competence development (intellectual, emotional and spiritual) for human resources through the formal and nonformal, development of school facilities and infrastructure that are refer to the main and supporting principles of effectiveness, development of human resources recruitment system based on the competence and professionalism of the school (merit based system), the development of a reward system and punishment to create a healthy culture and the competition for teachers, and increasing self exemplary which is started from the teachers.

Abstract

Sociologically, Islamic boarding school (pesantren) is a variant of the sociological institution in Muslim society that have two meanings at once, namely the proximity of synonymous with Islamic significance and originality of Indonesia. Pesantren emerges and develops among the Indonesian sociological community experiences loaded with the values of the humanity. As an institution that is identical with the meaning of the Islamic boarding school, was the institution of religion (tafaqquh fiddin) that concern in the field of Islamic knowledge. That is why, the material taught by the pesantren in general is the Islamic sciences, laden with humanitarian values, especially the Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and mysticism or Sufism. This second Islamic material was the center of teachings at pesantren, because he was related to the Mission of the prophetic teachings of Islam. For pesantren and the religious leaders (kiai), the teaching of Islamic jurisprudence and sufism or the morality are the instruments of anticipation of the need for change in world view, which allows its use in pesantren. The teaching of Islamic in pesantren focus more on anticipatory memorial, so that a number of the principle is that limber is expected to steer the social dynamics of the santri, especially in answering the problem of humanity in the midst of modernity.

Abstract

This paper tries to do the reading on the challenge and at the same time try to give PTAIN offer strategic thinking respect to the steps to be done PTAIN to maintain its presence in the contemporary era. The exposure can be observed that the currently PTAIN are facing very tough challenges related to globalization. Some of the challenges face, is how to achieve Good PTAIN University Governance (GUG). As for some of important things to consider to make it happen include: management arrangements, change of paradigm, leadership, and networks collaboration.
