Abstract

It is argued that language learning is hard and sometimes frustrating. Constant effort and pleasant condition are required in order to keep students motivated in learning language. One interesting strategy to make language teaching more effective and enjoyable is by using games. Games have some benefit for teachers and students. They help teachers not only to create contexts in which the language is useful and meaningful, but also to help and encourage students to sustain their interest and work. In addition, games provide intensive and meaningful practice of language.This article deals on a strategy of teaching Kalam (Arabic speaking) based on games for Madrasah Aliyah students. Abstract

As one of the biggest language in the world, Arabic has several objects of studies. Mu’jam theory is one of the objects of studies. Arabic Mu’jam theory has risen since earlier of Islam development, exactly at the first hijriyah century. The signed of the theory is Mu’jam  al- ‘ain. The first Arabic Mu’jam based on Makharij al-Huruf al-Hija’iy by al-Khalil Ibn Ahmad al- Farahidy al-Mishry. He was an Linguist of Islamic Arabic (100 – 175 H).Keyword: Language, Arabic.

Abstract

In the history of Islamization in Indonesia, Pesantren (boarding school) has a real central role. even some considered that the establishment of Pesantren  as an Islamic educational institution in conjunction with the arrival and spread of Islam in Indonesia. Establishment of Pesantren was Walisongo's contribution in which Maulana Malik Ibrahim as an elder of the nine religious leaders.From some existing types of Pesantren, this paper will elaborate the study about Pesantren which only teach religious sciences in the madrasah diniyah, such as Salafi pesantren Langitan Tuban, pesantren Hidayatul Mubtadiin Lirboyo Kediri, Pasuruan Sidogiri, etc.In case of Arabic language teaching methods, pesantren uses a certain method known as iki-iku . It is a method of reading the kitab kuning- a term to the classical Arabic books by the scholars' Salaf-using symbols nahwu (Grammar) and translated into classical Javanese. This method is intended that students be able to understand and study the texts in Arabic, whether it is in the Qur'an, Hadith, and another Arabic text.The method has the advantage of teaching the Arabic language (nahwu) and religion at the same time. Nevertheless, translations into classical Javanese language has a problem because this method requires the improvement or innovation to facilitate students in learning the language and religion and apply it in people's lives, so the method iki iku remains the alternative method.           In other hand, religious knowledge stipulated in the classical books needs to be supplemented and replaced by more recent books. Because the books are currently used in, written over a very long time, so that the content was less contextual with community issues at the moment. It was contrary to the principle of Walisongo, who was always sensitive to the needs of the community.Keywords: Islamic education, iki iku method, pesantren salaf

Abstract

Speaking is one of the most important abilities to study a language for children and adults as well. Speaking represents a barometer of success in teaching language. In other words, the success of language instruction is reflected in the ability of student to speak the language fluently. Therefore, instruction should be given to foster speaking ability, especially to those who are still in an early stage of studying the language.The aim of this article is to collect, analyze, and evaluate the problems, and seek the solutions to the problems. Using a classroom action research method, the writer performs several cycles of researches to solve the problems and reach an intended goal. Every cycle consists of four main steps, i.e. planning, implementation, observation, and reflection.The result of the research indicates that applying media proves effective in improving speaking skill of students of the first level. The research reveals that, 1) applying sequence picture media proves effective in improving students’ skill of pronouncing words; 2) applying sequence picture media proves effective in improving students’ understanding of speaking Arabic; 3) applying sequence picture media proves effective in improving students’ fluency of speaking Arabic; 4) applying sequence picture media proves effective in improving students’ understanding of Arabic grammar; 5) applying sequence picture media proves effective in improving students’ ability of making sentences; and 6) applying sequence picture media proves effective in improving students’ confidence of speaking Arabic.

Abstract

Drill is a collection of various problems that demands students to solve the problem. Drill is important to help students understanding more about the subjects they have studied. Even though it is very necessary in improving speaking skill and accustoming the students to spell letters and words correctly and to speak Arabic well, the drill is overlooked in teaching language at MTs Khairuddin. Based on the background above, the researcher compiled special Worksheet (LKS) containing exercises for speaking skill. The research questions on the LKS are as follows:  1) how the exercises compiled improve the speaking skill?, and 2) how far is LKS effective in improving the speaking skill of MTs Khairuddin students?The method used in this research is RD method of seven steps: 1) first study, 2) planning development, 3) product/design development, 4) expert judgment, 5) revision, 6) experiment, and 7) revision and completion. When all the steps are concluded, it will be tested in class VII students of MTs Khairuddin, with random samples of 20 students. Using pre-test and post-test, the research uses two samples, that of control class and that of experiment class.The result is as follows: the post-test of control group 163 and experiment group value 223. After being calculated by t test formulation using SPSS 12 program, it is revealed that tcalculation = 6 more than ttable = 1.734, with significance level of 0.00 lower than α = 0.05. Based on the data, HO is rejected. It means that there is significant difference between control and experiment group. The result shows us that LKS is effective in improving speaking skill of class VII students of MTs Khairuddin Gondanglegi.Keywords: Drill, LKS design

Abstract

An appropriate lesson matter has important role to develop teaching learning process because a lesson matter represents a place of two choices between delicious foods or a bitter one that we have to give to the students. Teacher should only be a facilitator who transfers a bun of knowledge. Here, a lesson matter isn’t always seen on a right place and sometimes it doesn’t have any role if we can’t serve the best.This study is aimed to show how to arrange an appropriate lesson matter from “Kitab Kuning” to develop students reading skill in 2nd grade of Madrasah Aliyah “Salafiyah” Pasuruan, because of a limited appropriate matter for Arabic under this Islamic Boarding School. A process of adopting the matter from “Kitab Kuning” seems to be an urge for this school due to necessity order in linking students’ talent and interest to learn about Islamic Canon Laws in teaching Arabic related with reading skill. Research and Development method is used by the researcher to emerge a special product and to measure the product efficiency in 2nd grade of Madrasah Aliyah “Salafiyah” Pasuruan for extended period 1429 – 1430 M. Having some advices from Arabic teacher and an expert teaching method of Arabic for Madrasah Aliyah on this Islamic Boarding School support the adopting process of “Kitab Kuning” can be finished. The researcher intends to use the advices to fix the contents of her lesson matter. This lesson matter consists of Competency Standard, Integrated Standard Based Competency, Indicator Level and an assignment on every topic.Pre-test is given to the 2nd grade students of Aliyah in order to measure their reading skill before the researcher starts her own lesson matter product. And their results reach 68% or can be referred in middle standard (enough). Then, the researcher starts the process in conducting her own lesson matter for about two months. At the end of the program, post-test is used to see how well the students receive or understand the lesson matter and the students’ average score can be reached 88% or in the highest level. So, it means that this lesson matter product is extremely effective in developing students reading skill.  The researcher suggests for the next research to conduct an observation on: (1) Arranging another appropriate lesson matter such as listening skill or speaking skill to this grade, (2) Conducting MA own book under the Islamic Boarding School internal system for the 3rd grade, (3) Exploration an interesting teaching method for MA, (4) Home base curriculum is deserved by the board internal. Abstract

The Speaking is one of the factors from value the speaking skill. In the instructional need good design of matters to support the forming of communication environment on that the matter. During that the matter leaned normative design, stark and poor of communicative vocabulary so value in the speaking skill not reached.At MTsN Prigen have problem about the matter for instructional classroom and weakness ability of speaking skill from students. 1). Not optimally in using the matter book. Since KTSP act, apparently still using matter of book instructional with KBK 2004, so expired to use in KTSP season. The topics there is small variation for it the user must choose the agreeable topics. 2).The speaking skill of students so weak and late, result from the content of speaking matter that not communication design. 3).The instructional needs a book with design of development speaking skill for anticipation of ability late from students with their skill. So that, prepare of vocabularies and sentences have a basis communication necessary every day.The goal of the experiment is: 1).The need a student book for material text like a glossary with dictionary speaking design specially for speaking skill development. 2).To exam the book using in act classroom activities. The hoping is the book can indicate that there is escalation student speaking skill. As for the main results of this research are: (1). produced the book that the content needed in activities of student communication. (2). Motivation of student is build with the book in class teaching with agreeable strategic and interesting value in the application. (3). communication design of this student's book can help speaking ability faster than conventional book in speaking skill design.Design of development content and explanation technique from this book must be continue to do for this book in order to get a book with curriculum content congruently to help in studying and practice for student speaking skill development next time.Keywords: Text book, Development, Speaking Skill

Abstract

This thesis discuss about Arabic teaching using SWISHmax Computer Program specifically on speaking skill. This research is applied in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Wahid Hasyim III Dau-Malang, between Malang and Batu city.According to the objective of the thesis above, the researcher uses descriptive analysis. In the other hand for this research device type is development research because the result of the research method used is media teaching and it is examined in the class. The population in this research is all students in the fifth class in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Wahid Hasyim III Dau-Malang 2008-2009, for about 18 students who have the same speaking skill.The result of this thesis are: (1) Teaching program using computer on speaking skill consist of; (a) Introduction, (b) Title/discussion, (c) The operational guidance of SWISHmax Computer Program, (d) Divide study which is consist of the sixth, seventh and eighth study; (2) The result test before using SWISHmax Computer in the fifth class shows 65 %, it shows that their speaking skill score is still weak/ unsatiefied (denied). Besides, after they are taught SWISHmax Computer Program, their score rises into 77%, it shows that there is an increasing in their score (received). It shows that SWISHmax Computer Program to speaking skill teaching in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Wahid Hasyim III Dau – Malang is effective.Key Word: SWISHmax Computer Program, teaching, speaking skill.

Abstract

Born in Syiraz, Imam Syibawaih spent his youth to study various disciplines, especially Arabic syntax, with many Muslim scholars. He defines a proposition (kalam) by giving an example    أخوك عبد الله وهذا أخوك. Referring to this example, Imam Jamaluddin ibn Yusuf defines proposition as “an expression of two aspects, which is the text and meaning.” Meanwhile, according to Syekh Musthafa al-Ghulayaini, a proposition is an utterance constructed from two of more words and meaning, and often defined as sentence. Based on its kinds, sentence can be divided into two parts, i.e., “nominal sentences” and “verbal sentence.” And based on its function, sentence can be divided into six groups, jumlah khabariyah, jumlah haliyah, jumlah maf’uliyah, jumlah na’atiyah, jumlah idhafiyah, and jumlah jazaiyah.
