Non-routine problem is very important to learn. Besides to improve mathematics achievement, non-routine problem is a means to train students to use their logic, think critically, become creative, and develop their intuition. This research was a qualitative descriptive-exploratory; it aimed to determine the profile of abilities of the junior high school students in solving non routine geometry problems using Polya model. The subjects were 10 junior high school students following Olympics coaching which were coached by the researcher. The olympics coaching model used was that the students were asked to solve the given problems using Polya’s 4-step problem solving, namely understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Students were also given the opportunity to try to resolve the problem by using their own ways. Afterward, they followed the discussion. The teacher acted as a facilitator, motivator, and consultant, who monitored whether the students’ ways worked or not. The data consisted of the students’ solving of the non-routine geometry problems; the data were analyzed qualitatively to determine if the students had used Polya’s 4-step problem solving model, and to know if there were the students’ weaknesses which were needed to be improved. The results showed that the second step of Polya model, namely devising a plan, was considered the most difficult by most students. The students still had difficulty in finding the initial idea to solve non-routine problem. Â

CV. Asia Plastics is a manufacturing company engaged in the field of plastic packaging. In the initial picture there are still activities that are not worth adding and the percentage of defects is high enough. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate and improve the existing production process in order to reduce defect and non value added activity (NVA) which was waste. This method could be done by using Lean Six Sigma Approach and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) Steps. Once identified, the all types of waste appearing in the production process were 5 liter jerry consisting of inventory waste, waste motion, waiting waste, overproduction waste, and defect waste. The initial sigma value of the firm for blow 5 was 3.89, the total initial lead time obtained from the value stream mapping (current state) was 405.14 s and the total NVA obtained from the value stream mapping (current state) was 11.706 s. The calculation result after making improvement for Blow 5 showed that the sigma value increased to 4.1, total lead time obtained from value stream mapping (future state) decreased to 293,78 s and total NVA obtained from value stream mapping (future state) decreased to 9,607 s.

The majority of children’s well-being measurement is often rooted in Western culture in developed countries. Therefore, along with the increase of public awareness of children’s well-being in Surabaya, Indonesia, appropriate tools to measure it is greatly needed. The main objective of this study was to develop a valid and reliable instrument assessing the well-being levels of Indonesian children aged 11-15 years in Surabaya. The steps in scale development were carried out in four major phases. The first phase was the item generation and construction of the draft of the Children’s Well-being Scale (CWBS). Information from literature review and focus group discussions were used to generate the initial form (120 items) which were subjected to content validation by experts. In the second phase,a total of 294 participants completed the preliminary form of the instrument. Then, Cronbach’s Alpha(a=.91) and item-total correlation were done in the Preliminary form indicating that the instrument was internally consistent. In third phase, an additional 288 participants took the final form of CWBS. With this new sample, the CWBS were still internally consistent (a=.90). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the pre-hypothesized12 factor structure.Construct validity was assessed through analysis of correlations with three standardized tests: Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (r=.65), Personal Well-being Index-School Children (r=.61), and Revised Children Anxiety and Depression Scale-Short version (r=-.70).The CWBS were administered to a large group (N=708) for the norming of the test. Considering the result of the analysis of CWBSthat the 48 items had satisfying psychometric properties, it can be concluded that CWBS are valid and reliable instruments for Indonesian children.
