Abstract

One of the causes for the decline of tiger shrimp production due to slow growth and high mortality. Many ways have been done by fish farmers in the town of Tarakan to increase the production of one of them is by antibiotics, but it is an environmentally friendly manner. The use of natural materials can be an alternative solution to accelerate growth and suppress mortality. Karamunting plant is a herbaceous plant that does not have economic value and are found in Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan, this plant contains a precursor lanosterol as shrimp growth. This research was conducted with several stages: (1). The extraction of karamunting plant (Melastoma malabathricum), (2). Treatment by dipping the extract into the tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) maintenance for 4 weeks variable concentrations of 0 (control), 100 ppm (P1), 75 ppm (P2), 50 ppm (P3), 20 ppm (P4) and 10 ppm ( P5), (3). Measured parameter of survival rate black tiger shrimp and (5) Data analysis. The statistical results showed that the survival rate of the ethanol extract showed significantly different Karamunting (P˂0,05). The average survival rate in the controls (43.06 ± 10.22%), P1 (78.06 ± 8.55%), P2 (75.33 ± 4.91%), P3 (66 ± 12.39% , P4 (70.66 ± 5.34%) and P5 (75 ± 4.71%). Abstract

Feeding with a balanced formulation of nutrition, can help the process of growth  and moulting of mub crab,Scylla serrata. In general, the Soca crab aquaculture  utilize  feed that is still competitive with humans thereby increasing the cost operasional, while in the intensive aquaculture require  the availability of feed in a number of good quality, inexpensive, sustainable and high production value. One of an alternative food for the growth of mud crab is  temberungun snail (Telescopium-telescopium), which is a waste of traditional farming in ponds. This study aimed to compare the effect of  temberungun snail as a feed with other feeds that high economic value for the  growth and moulting of mud crab. The research was carried on  January to May in traditional ponds in the small island of Tarakan. Four feed treatments were applied:  A = trash fish, B = temberungun snails (Telescopium-telescopium), C =  crustaceans (Penaeid sp), D = squid (Loligo sp).   The results of the studi showed that the use of   non-economical feed of  temberungun snail was not significantly different with the other natural feed that high economic value   to growth and moulting of mud crab. Keywords : Scylla serrata, growth, moulting, snail temberungun

Abstract

Fish of nomei (Harpadon nehereus) which one of characteristic of Tarakan City because this fish is only found in the waters Juata of Tarakan City. Fish of Nomei has become one of the favorite food for the predators albino dolphin. In the event of the harvest is much, so in the waters around Tarakan City will be filled with a bunch of types of dolphins. This study aims to determine fecundity (number of eggs) in a spawning of fish nomei (Harpadon nehereus) in Tarakan, to determine the level of maturity of the gonads of fish nomei (Harpadon nehereus) in scale of the sex ratio, and to termine the gonads maturity index of fish nomei (Harpadon nehereus) in scale of the sex ratio. Number of samples were observed 479 males and 241 females fish of Nomei (Harpadon nehereus) taken 4 times in two months at 4 stations. Results of this study show from March-May 2013 fish of nomei male and female are still in the early reproductive period, estimated male and female fish nomei no one has done spawning ( TKG V ). Fecundity values seen in gonad maturity level four (TKG IV) in the range of the number of eggs get SD = 8171 + 4279 eggs (average of 8,167 eggs of fish nomei). In the gonads Maturity Index (IKG) fish species nomei male greatest gonad maturity index four (IKG IV), gonad maturity index of the smallest in the gonad maturity index (IKG I). Meanwhile, the gonads Maturity Index Index (IKG) Fish nomei greatest females in the fourth gonad maturity index (IKG IV), gonad maturity index of the smallest in the gonad maturity index ( IKG II). Keywords : IKG , TKG , fecundity , fish of nomei , Harpadon nehereus

Abstract

The availability of natural food in the waters affected by internal condition that isnutrient content. With sufficient nutrients will be able to support the growth ofphytoplankton which in turn form the food chain as part of the ecological chain events in it. Brackish water pond is one of human making ecosystem. Commonly, It’s use for fisheries production especially shrimp or fishes purporting. In Coastal of North Kalimantan, to running its have been used traditional system. This system is depending to the natural condition. The Available of nutrients and plankton condition are important thing for supporting life in the waters column and for management system brackish water pond. Thus, changes in the content of nutrients and plankton in the environment and in the brackish water pond becomes very necessary to be known. This study aims to determine the condition of nutrient content and plankton in the pond waters environtment. Nitrate concentrations in the pond water was found ranged from 0.0004 to 0.309 ppm, while in the waters of the river / outlets ranging from 0.012 to 0.243 ppm. The phosphate concentration in the pond water obtained in this study ranged from 0.001 to 0.741 ppm, while in the waters of the river ranges from 0019 to 0.067 ppm. In generally, nutrient concentration range obtained is still support for the life of plankton in the brackish water pond.Key words: nutrients, nitrat, fosfat, plankton, brackish water ponds.
