Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the content of carrageenan from harvesting seaweed (Kappaphchus alvarezii) with different ages. The research consists of 5 treatments of different levels of harvest age were 30 days, 37 days, 45 days, 52 days and 60 day. The observed parameter were yield, moisture content and ash content. Result showed the average value of the highest yield at harvest time 52 days was 61.87%, followed by successive harvest age of 60 days, 45 days, 37 days and 30 days with an average value of the yield were 60.67% , 60 , 60%, 59.00% and 58.67%. Value - average water content ranged from 7.33% to 10%, while the average value of the ash content ranging from 17% -18.33%. Based on the analysis of variance, the seaweed’s harvesting gave the significant of effect on the carrageenan’s content.Keywords: Kappaphycus sp., harvesting, content of carrageenan

Abstract

Processing of crustaceans especially shrimp and crab is a process that keep on progressing years to years. This condition will also followed by the increasing of shrimp shell waste, shrimp head and crab shell. Meanwhile, the processing of shrimp and crab shell is still limited in Tarakan. This research intended to know of the content chitosan of shrimp and crab shell. The research method that is used in this research was descriptive analysis of shrimp shell waste and crab shell with four times repetition. The result showed that the highest yield chitosan in crab shell was 46.30% and the lowest yeild chitosan in shrimp shell was 30.63%. Based on the result of water content analysis, the highest value in shrimp shell was 6.94% < 10% and the lowest water content in crab shell was 6.78% < 10%.   Keywords: shrimp shell waste, crab shell, yield, and water content.

Abstract

Keberadaan bakteri Salmonella spp pada ikan bandeng dapat mempengaruhi aspek kualitas, kemunduran mutu produk perikanan dan keamanan dalam mengkonsumsi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui tingkat kesegeran dan kontaminan bakteri pada ikan bandeng yang dijual di Pasar Guser Kota Tarakan dan mendeteksi keberadaan bakteri patogen (Salmonella spp.). Sampel daging ikan dihaluskan sebanyak 25 gram dan dimasukan ke dalam Erlenmeyer berisi 225 ml Alkhali Pepton Wather (APW) kemudian di homogenkan dan diinkubasi selama 5-8 jam. Isolasi bakteri Salmonella spp. dengan menggunakan media Salmonella Shigella Agar (SSA) kemudian diinkubasi selama 24-48 jam suhu 37oC dan diidentifikasi dengan uji biokimia dengan menggunakan Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa mutu dan kualitas ikan bandeng yang dijual di Pasar Gusher Kota Tarakan sangat baik dan segar dengan tingkat kontaminan bakteri dibawah ambang batas/baku mutu SNI yaitu 4x104 koloni/gram. Serta terdeteksi mengandung bakteri patogen (Salmonella spp.).

Abstract

Fish of nomei (Harpadon nehereus) which one of characteristic of Tarakan City because this fish is only found in the waters Juata of Tarakan City. Fish of Nomei has become one of the favorite food for the predators albino dolphin. In the event of the harvest is much, so in the waters around Tarakan City will be filled with a bunch of types of dolphins. This study aims to determine fecundity (number of eggs) in a spawning of fish nomei (Harpadon nehereus) in Tarakan, to determine the level of maturity of the gonads of fish nomei (Harpadon nehereus) in scale of the sex ratio, and to termine the gonads maturity index of fish nomei (Harpadon nehereus) in scale of the sex ratio. Number of samples were observed 479 males and 241 females fish of Nomei (Harpadon nehereus) taken 4 times in two months at 4 stations. Results of this study show from March-May 2013 fish of nomei male and female are still in the early reproductive period, estimated male and female fish nomei no one has done spawning ( TKG V ). Fecundity values seen in gonad maturity level four (TKG IV) in the range of the number of eggs get SD = 8171 + 4279 eggs (average of 8,167 eggs of fish nomei). In the gonads Maturity Index (IKG) fish species nomei male greatest gonad maturity index four (IKG IV), gonad maturity index of the smallest in the gonad maturity index (IKG I). Meanwhile, the gonads Maturity Index Index (IKG) Fish nomei greatest females in the fourth gonad maturity index (IKG IV), gonad maturity index of the smallest in the gonad maturity index ( IKG II). Keywords : IKG , TKG , fecundity , fish of nomei , Harpadon nehereus

Abstract

Tarakan merupakan salah satu pulau dengan komoditas budidaya rumput laut terbesar di Provinsi Kaltara. Salah satu jenis rumput laut potensial yang dihasilkan dari perairan Kota Tarakan berasal dari jenis Kappaphycus alvarezii dengan wilayah ekspor hingga ke Jepang dan Tiongkok. Namun, berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan nelayan pada tahun 2016 hingga akhir 2018 harga bahan baku rumput laut cenderung fluktuatif bahkan akhir tahun 2016 cenderung turun drastis dari Rp.16.000/kg menjadi Rp. 7.000/kg. Dalam rangka antisipasi harga rumput laut yang fluktuatif, maka perlu diupayakan suatu usaha hilirisasi guna meningkatkan nilai daya jual rumput laut dipasaran. Salah satu bentuk hilirisasi adalah dengan mengolah rumput laut menjadi olahan sambal banjar. Proses pendampingan dilakukan selama proses hilirisasi pengolahan sambal banjar rumput laut, seperti: penerapan teknologi mesin dalam mengolah sambal banjar rumput laut, pengenalan informasi terkait nilai persentase Angka Kecukupan Gizi (AKG) dan pengeambangan desain kemasan dalam rangka promosi dan menarik minat konsumen.

Abstract

Sauropus androgynous contain chemical compounds that can increase the growth of tiger prawn. This study aims to determine the growth of tiger prawns after giv- ing S. androgynous leaves ethanol extract mixed in feed. The research method uses a completely randomized design (CRD) 4 treatments, three replications. Treatment with a dose of Treatment 1 (T1) Control without giving S. androgynous extract, Treatment 2 (T2) 5 gr/kg of feed, Treatment 3 (T3) 50 gr/kg of feed, Treatment 4 (T4) 100 gr/kg of feed. Proximate test results of S. androgynous extract crude pro- tein content of 10.83%, crude fiber 1.87%, crude fat 0.85%, ash content 1.94%, dry weight 93.62%, and extract material without nitrogen 78.13%. Based on the results of the study, the weight growth and growth length statistically showed significantly different (P < 0.05). The highest growth of tiger prawn at the end of the study was found in P4 by giving S. androgynous leaf extract with an average weight growth value (70.18 ± 9.57 g). While the lowest weight growth was observed in T1 with  an average weight growth value (32.62 ± 7.54 g). The highest length growth was found in T4 with average length (1.19 ± 0.10 cm), while the lowest length growth was seen in T1 with average length growth (0.62 ± 0.09 cm).

Abstract

Nutrition value and optimum digestibility of feed formulation can support fish growth out. However, most common constraint is low fish growth out caused by feeding that contain high energy but cannot be digested by fish. Papaya is one of producing papain enzyme (protease) which capable of increasing digestibility and feed protein absorption that impact to enhancing fish growth out. The aim of this research is to find out effectiveness bioenrichment of papaya fruit meal formulation for tilapia growth out performance. Research using completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. Papaya fruit meal with 0, 1.25, 1.75, 2 and 2.25 g/kg concentration of feed formulation given to tilapia during thirty days period. The results showed that, bioenrichment of papaya fruit meal 2.25g/kg became the best concentration when compared other treatments. Feed with addition of papaya fruit meal 2.25gr/kg was able to produce 29.13g of absolute weight, 7.57g spesific weight, 3.35cm absolute length, 2.22cm specific length and 1.16 point of feed convertion ratio value with 60% survival rate during treatment period. Neverthless, analysis of variance of the sixth treatments showed no significant difference from the overall parameters that was observed. Based on results it can be concluded bioenrichment of papaya fruit meal as much as 2.25g/kg of feed become the best formulation for Tilapia growth out performance. Keywords :Bioenrichment, Papaya Meal, Nile Tilapia

Abstract

Perairan Juata adalah perairan laut yang memiliki sumberdaya hayati laut, salah satunya adalah ikan nomei. Ikan Nomei (Harpodon nehereus) merupakan jenis ikan yang lembek dan memiliki nilai ekonomis yang cukup tinggi untuk dapat dimanfaatkan secara lestari. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui aspek pertumbuhan dan struktur umur ikan nomei (Harpodon nehereus) dari hasil tangkapan nelayan di perairan juata kota Tarakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif eksploratif dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus. Ruang lingkup penelitian ini hanya difokuskan pada variabel populasi dengan pendekatan pertumbuhan absolut/mutlak model von Bertalanffy.  Teknik pengumpulan data, menggunakan desain penelitian survei. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling.  Waktu pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada saat surut. Pengambilan sampling ikan nomei dilakukan sebanyak 6 kali pada 4 nelayan berbeda. Tiap nelayan diambil sampel sebanyak 30 ekor ikan nomei. Hasil penelitian didapatkan pertumbuhan ikan nomei jantan memiliki pertumbuhan panjang maksimal sebesar 33,847 cm dengan mencapai umur selama 206 hari. Model pertumbuhan Von Bertalanffy yaitu Lt = 33,847 (1–2,71828 - 0.0176 ( t + 1,7928)) (jantan ) ( r = 0,9  dan n = 481). Pertumbuhan ikan nomei betina memiliki pertumbuhan panjang maksimal sebesar 35,743 cm dengan mencapai umur selama 603 hari, namun ikan nomei betina pada umur 290 hari sudah mencapai pertumbuhan panjang sekitar 35,068 cm. Model pertumbuhan Von Bertalanffy yaitu Lt = 35,743 ( 1 – 2,71828 -0.0136 ( t + 1,9025)) (betina ) (r = 0,99 dan n = 239).
