Author explain design types in experimentasl methods and how to do experiemental method. There are classical and factorial types in experimental methods.

Abstract

Abstract : This study investigates Indonesian postgraduate student’s experience at the pre-sessional program of the process of seeking information and the strategies they used throughout the process. The objective is to understand their information seeking behavior particularly academic-related information in order to improve the effectiveness of educational communication in Malaysia higher institutions. Two research questions are addressed: what experiences do pre-sessional students face in the process of information seeking that can be articulated and described? What stages do pre-sessional students experience in the process of information seeking construction? Using the qualitative method, the study found that the pre-sessional students have different patterns in the constructive process of information seeking in two different groups i.e. writing and reading classes. Six stages and four stages of the search process were identified respectively for the two groups.

Abstract

Abstract: This paper attempts to investigate how communications organization is conducted by Charoen Pokphand Company (a multinational poultry company) to stop the shifting of competitors’ employees amid the high tendency of the employees’ shifting to competitors’ company. This study uses explanatory case study as research method with single case design. The analysis is carried out from the perspectives of organizational culture and internal communications functions of the organization in maintaining the employees’ loyalty. An analysis of the employees’ shifting case id based on several notions that organizational culture is very influential on the process of communication within the organization (Ruppel and Harington 2000), how cultural management affects on the communication (Bordow and More in McKenna 2006), and the effects of cultural subsystems on the employees’ loyalty (Eskildsen and Nussler 2000). Literature studies and interviews are performed to obtain data on several cases of employees’ shifting which have happened at Charoen Pokphand Company. The informant is an employee who has worked at Charoen Pokphand Company for eleven years and is often received offers to move to other competitors’ company. Offers which give better position and salary turn out to be unappealing when compared to the organizational culture and communication processes which provide work comfort. Abstrak: Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lebih jauh tentang bagaimana komunikasi organisasi yang dilakukan PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (sebuah perusahaan pakan ternak multinasional) dalam upayanya mencegah migrasi karyawan kompetitor ditengah tingginya mobilitas migrasi karyawan ke perusahaan kompetitor. Metode studi kasus eksplanatori digunakan sebagai metode penelitian dan menggunakan desain studi kasus tunggal. Tulisan ini dibahas dari perspektif budaya organisasi dan fungsi komunikasi internal organisasi dalam memelihara loyalitas karyawan. Pembahasan terhadap kasus migrasi karyawan ini dilakukan dengan mendasarkan pada beberapa pendapat bahwa budaya organisasi sangat berpengaruh terhadap proses komunikasi dalam organisasi (Ruppel and Harrington 2000), bagaimana manajemen budaya berpengaruh pada komunikasi (Bordow and More in McKenna 2006) dan efek subsistem budaya terhadap loyalitas karyawan (Eskildsen and Nussler 2000). Studi literature dan dan wawancara digunakan untuk memperoleh data tentang beberapa kasus migrasi karyawan yang pernah terjadi di PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia. Informan adalah seorang karyawan PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia yang sudah bekerja selama 11 tahun dan sering mendapatkan tawaran untuk berpindah dari perusahaan PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia ke perusahaan kompetitor. Penawaran yang lebih memberikan posisi serta gaji yang lebih baik ternyata bukan tawaran yang menarik bila dibandingkan budaya organisasi dan proses komunikasi yang memberikan kenyamanan kerja.

Abstract

Abstract: Reputation not only about what the organization do for positive image, but it is the set of meanings by which an object is known and trough which people discribe, remember and relate to it. In practice, a lot of things shape the reputation. One of them is the mass media that used logic by itself to make symbolic words. Issues about the organization have important implication, because improving the public sensitivity which have unstable and difficult characteristic to account.

Abstract

Keterbacaan dapat diukur dengan berbagai variable. Variabel yang paling utama adalah bagaimana jumlah huruf, jumlah kalimat, dan kata-kata sukar yang disesuaikan dengan latar belakang dan tingkat pendidikan pembacanya. Robert Gunning menemukan formula untuk mengukur keterbacaan yang dikenal dengan istilah The Gunning’s Fog Index atau Fog Readability Formula atau Fog Index. Kemunculan rumus ini butuh proses dan tidak muncul begitu saja. Gunning menemukan media cetak di Amerika susah dicerna sehingga susah laku di pasaran. Abstract

Abstract: Business is not only economic institution, but social institution too. As social institution, business has responsibility to help society in solving social problem. This responsibility called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). CSR pays attention about social problem and environment, so CSR support continuous development to help government role. Nowadays, our government has national development’s agenda. One of them is tourism sector (Visit Indonesia Year 2008 programmed). But tourism sector has challenge in human resources. In this case, business role in practice CSR is needed to help tourism sector. With CSR activities, the quality of local community will increase to participate in tourism activities. CSR activities include training that based on research. When the quality of local community increase, local community can practice the concept of community based tourism (CBT). In the future, Indonesia has a power to compete with other countries.

Abstract

Abstract: Business newspaper has eliciting competition over source life of supporting media industry, i.e. capital, types of content and types of audience. This research explains the newspaper’s competition based on advertiser satisfaction as a benchmark of media effectiveness. Adopting the theory of uses & gratification and using variables of gratification sought and gratification obtained, these studies examine 5 local newspapers in Yogyakarta. The instrument of competitive strategy is using for further analysis, consisting of superiority direction and superiority magnitude measurements. The results showed that advertising agencies haven’t felt the satisfaction of the services provided by the local newspaper. Key words: competition, gratification sought, gratification obtained, superiority direction, superiority magnitude .Abstrak: Bisnis surat kabar telah memunculkan kompetisi yang memperebutkan sumber penunjang hidup industri media, yakni modal, isi media, dan jenis audiens. Penelitian ini menjelaskan kompetisi tersebut berdasarkan kepuasan pengiklan sebagai tolok ukur efektivitas media. Mengadopsi teori uses & gratification dengan menggunakan variabel gratification sought dan gratification obtained, penelitian ini menguji lima surat kabar lokal di Yogyakara. Selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan instrumen competitive superiority, terdiri dari superiority direction dan superiority magnitude. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa biro iklan belum merasakan kepuasan dari layanan yang diberikan oleh jasa surat kabar lokal.

Abstract

Abstract: Press freedom in Indonesia is not apart from its accountabilities for particular delicts as set forth in Press Act and Criminal Law currently revised in line with the development of era and Indonesian cultures. Accountabilities of the press for delicts include humiliation, slandering, and pornography where such involved parties shall account for. Meanwhile, legal aspects for such involved parties include editor, writer, publisher, printing agency and distributors, with more advantageous legal position compared to the ones of non-press delicts.

Abstract

Information society concept has often been heard and analyzed following with information and communication technology development which can’t be avoided by society. At the beginning, information society comes up from the awareness how important information current is. Nations compete for preparing many tools to realize a transition to aim the dream of information society. Computerization as a requirement to concrete information society is claimed to faster the society existence including e-government effort. However, technology can not only be implemented without considering some aspects because it can make new problems.

Abstract

Abstract: This article describes the radio competition in Yogyakarta at 2005. The radio competition was measured by using niche theory and as an unit of analysis is radio program. Niche theory was applied by measuring niche breadth and niche overlap. Niche breadth shows the degree of radio competition which focuses on the source of media life. Another measurement is niche overlap. This concept is used to measure what radio becomes competitor to certain radio. This research shows that the radio industries in Yogyakarta tend to be specialist radio and the radio competition is very strong.
