Abstract

In this paper, a new broadband microwave microstrip power limiter is designed and realized. The Power Limiter is based on microstrip technology integrating a Zero Bias commercial Schottky diodes HSMS2820.The power limiter is optimized and validated in two steps. The enhanced and achieved circuit is obtained by concatenating two basic structures. The final circuit was validated into simulation by using ADS solver. Finally this circuit was realized and tested. Simulation and measurement results are in a good agreement. The final circuit achieves a limiting rate of 14 dB with a threshold input power level of 0 dBm until a maximum input power level of 30 dBm.

Abstract

Food security is still one of the main issues faced by Indonesia due to its large population. Rice as a staple food in Indonesia has experienced a decline in production caused by unpredictable climate change. In dealing with climate change, adaptation to fluctuating rice productivity must be made. This study aims to build a prediction model of wetland rice production on climate change in South Kalimantan Province which is one of the national rice granary province and the number one rice producer in Kalimantan Island. This study uses monthly climatic data from Syamsudin Noor Meteorological Station and quarterly wetland rice production data from Central Bureau of Statistics of South Kalimantan. In this research, Support Vector Regression (SVR) method is used to model the effect of climate change on wetland rice production in South Kalimantan. The model is then used to predict the amount of wetland rice production in South Kalimantan. The results showed that the prediction model with the RBF kernel with the parameter of C=1.0, epsilon=0.002 and gamma=0.2 produces good results with the RMSE value of 0.1392.

Abstract

This paper presents a detailed review on performance indicators for smart grid (SG) such as voltage stability enhancement, reliability evaluation, vulnerability assessment, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and communication systems. Smart grids reliability assessment can be performed by analytically or by simulation. Analytical method utilizes the load point assessment techniques, whereas the simulation technique uses the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) technique. The reliability index evaluations will consider the presence or absence of energy storage elements using the simulation technologies such as MCS, and the analytical methods such as systems average interruption frequency index (SAIFI), and other load point indices. This paper also presents the difference between SCADA and substation automation, and the fact that substation automation, though it uses the basic concepts of SCADA, is far more advanced in nature.

Abstract

In cellular systems the high probability of blocking represents a big problem for users, The proposed solution by reducing the blocking probability and investigation cellular systems by method channels assignment. The aim from apaper is studying the effect the channel assignment on the value of blocking probability. The results showed that the fixe channeld assignment gives a large probability of blocking for high loads, While  (FCA) reduce probability of blocking for handoff and calls according to cluster size. The cellular system representation in the case of (DCA), in (3-cell reuse) and (7-cell reuse), the results showed the first best way to reduce blocking probability and lead to reduce to approximately zero when loads that are less than 200%. Increasing  the cluster size causes to reduce blocking  probability. the results showed that the probability blocking for handoff  less than from probability of  blocking for new calls.

Abstract

Lab work activities are one of the hearts of science learning, but several students have limited use and time to explore computer network tools. This study proposes a virtual reality (VR) application used to support lab work activities of a computer network so that students may conduct lab work activities by themselves at any time. The method used in this study is a multimedia development life cycle (MDLC) that consists of five stages, they are concept, design, material collecting, assembly, and testing & evaluation. A formative evaluation carried out by involving two experts, namely software expert and material expert, to measure the feasibility of application before conducting user testing. Meanwhile, a summative evaluation used to evaluate the VR application by involving 25 students who were taking the course of computer networking. Statistical analysis shows that the score of Cronbach's alpha test is higher than 0.6 for aspects of material subject and experience. Hence, the VR application can be used to support the lab work activities of a computer network.

Abstract

 In the context of complex network theory, the small-world network is famous for the small-world phenomenon, namely six degrees of separation. Different from its wide application in the social, physical and technological network analysis, it can be combined with the mathematical optimization algorithm recently. In this paper, the limitation of small-world network topology for application in multi-objective optimization algorithm is proposed. The optimization algorithm based on small-world network topology may be suitable for solving a few single-objective optimization problems, but has limitation and unobvious effectiveness to deal with many multi-objective optimization problems. This paper takes non-dominated sorting differential evolution algorithm (NSDE) based on small-world topology to solve eight multi-objective optimization problems (MOPs) for example. Compared with early NSDE algorithm, the limitation of the efficiency of small-world topology in NSDE is validated with the Matlab simulation results of eight MOEA test functions of early 2007. The results prove that small-world topology has limitation and unobvious effectiveness to improve a multi-objective optimization algorithm, not as good as to improve a single-objective optimization algorithm.

Abstract

In the image acquisition or transmission, the image may be damaged and distorted due to various reasons; therefore, in order to satisfy people’s visual effects, these images with degrading quality must be processed to meet practical needs. Integrating artificial bee colony algorithm and fuzzy set, this paper introduces fuzzy entropy into the self-adaptive fuzzy enhancement of image so as to realize the self-adaptive parameter selection. In the meanwhile, based on the exponential properties of information increase, it proposes a new definition of fuzzy entropy and uses artificial bee colony algorithm to realize the self-adaptive contrast enhancement under the maximum entropy criterion. The experimental result shows that the method proposed in this paper can increase the dynamic range compression of the image, enhance the visual effects of the image, enhance the image details, have some color fidelity capacity and effectively overcome the deficiencies of traditional image enhancement methods.

Abstract

Based on the existing image mosaic technology, this paper introduces the granular computing and obtains a simplified new algorithm. The image mosaic executed by this algorithm at first establishes correlation model on the basis of granular computing theory, and obtains edge map of each image needing mosaic. The new calculation method is used to calculate gradient of in different columns of edge map, to obtain the feature point coordinates with the maximum gradient; meanwhile, all feature points of two images are matched with each other, to acquire the best matching point. In addition, the error-correcting mechanism is introduced in the matching process, which is used to delete feature points with matching error. The correlation calculation is carried out for the matching pixels acquired by the above processing, to get the feature transformational matrix of the two images. According to the matrix, two separated image maps map into the same plane. The slow transitional mosaic method is applied in the aspect of image addition plus overlap removal, so that images have no bulgy boundary after mosaics. The whole image mosaic process shows that the given granular computing algorithm is superior to the traditional one both in the number of processed images and the number of processing, and the mosaic image gained has high quality.

Abstract

With the on-line and acceptance of A11’s production management system, the operational work is becoming increasingly critical to managing distributed system. How to ensure system version update work fast, stable and efficient, become an urgent problem to be solved. We design and implement ConfigTool which is a auto-configuration and deployment tool based on XML metadata implemented by Java. ConfigTool realizes the automated processes of decompression, modification, compression and deployment of packages. In additon, we also study and optimize the file compresssion algotithm which is used in ConfigTool. Through ConfigTool, operational work can become simple and improving work efficiency.

Abstract

A new approach to the optimal synthesis of planar arrays able to radiate mask-constrained shaped beams by exploiting the minimum number of radiating elements is presented. By taking advantage from both the recent theory of Compressive Sensing and the multiplicity of equivalent solutions available for the generation of an unique shaped-beam power pattern, the synthesis results extremely fast and effective. In particular, the overall design is reduced to a Convex Programming optimization, with the inherent advantages in terms of solutions’ optimality and computational burden.
