Abstract

Electrical design automation plays an important role in nowadays electronic industry. Various commercial Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE) packages, such as pSpice Or CAD, have become the standard computer program for electrical simulation, with numerous copies in use worldwide. The customized simulation software with copyright need the understanding and using of SPICE engine which was open-source shortly after its birth. The inner workings of SPICE, including algorithms, data structure and code structure of SPICE were analyzed, and a engine package and application development approach were proposed. The experiments verified its feasibility and accuracy.

Abstract

This paper explores the potential of use of stand-alone hybrid wind/solar energy system in electrification of calibrating equipment of drilling oil rig in Iran. To achieve this, different hybrid energy system configurations based on calibration equipment demand are proposed. This study puts emphasis on the energy production and cost of energy from both wind turbine and photovoltaic (PV) in the hybrid system. In addition, to make conditions more realistic, the real meteorological data is used for HOMER software to perform the technical and economic analysis of the hybrid system. Results indicate that the PV array shares more electricity production than the wind turbine generator if both wind turbine and PV array are utilized in the wind/solar hybrid system. Moreover, results show that the operational cost will be reduced by the suggested hybrid system.

Abstract

As people freely express their opinions toward a product on Twitter streams without being bound by time, visualizing time pattern of customers emotional behavior can play a crucial role in decision-making. We analyze how emotions are fluctuated in pattern and demonstrate how we can explore it into useful visualizations with an appropriate framework. We manually customized the current framework in order to improve a state-of-the-art of crawling and visualizing Twitter data. The data, post or update on status on the Twitter website about iPhone, was collected from U.S.A, Japan, Indonesia, and Taiwan by using geographical bounding-box and visualized it into two-dimensional heat map, interactive stream graph, and context focus via brushing visualization. The results show that our proposed system can explore uniqueness of temporal pattern of customers emotional behavior.

Abstract

Instances classification with the small dataset for Quran ontology is the current research problem which appears in Quran ontology development. The existing classification approach used machine learning: Backpropagation Neural Network. However, this method has a drawback; if the training set amount is small, then the classifier accuracy could decline. Unfortunately, Holy Quran has a small corpus. Based on this problem, our study aims to formulate new instances classification framework for small training corpus applied to semantic question answering system. As a result, the instances classification framework consists of several essential components: pre-processing, morphology analysis, semantic analysis, feature extraction, instances classification with Radial Basis Function Networks algorithm, and the transformation module. This algorithm is chosen since it robustness to noisy data and has an excellent achievement to handle small dataset. Furthermore, document processing module on question answering system is used to access instances classification result in Quran ontology.

Abstract

Rice is the most important food commodity in Indonesia. In order to achieve affordability, and the fulfillment of the national food consumption according to the Indonesia law no. 18 of 2012, Indonesia needs information to support the government's policy regarding the collection, processing, analyzing, storing, presenting and disseminating. One manifestation of the Information availability to support the government’s policy is forecasting. Exponential smoothing and neural network methods are commonly used to forecasting because it provides a satisfactory result. Our study are comparing the variants of exponential and backpropagation model as a neural network to forecast rice production. The evaluation is summarized by utilizing Mean Square Percentage Error (MAPE), Mean Square Error (MSE). The results show that neural network method is preferable than the statistics method since it has lower MSE and MAPE values than statistics method.

Abstract

An attempt to develop a monoester type insulating oil, especially methyl ester is being conducted and the current results after conducting two kinds of treatment, namely, filtration and water reduction arereported in this paper. Five different samples were prepared from methyl ester oil based on their melting point. The important properties of oil samples such as breakdown voltage, viscosity, water content, acidity, and density were tested, and are evaluated based on the standard specification of natural ester used for the transformer, ASTM D-6871. Another important property, i.e. oxidation stability was also tested and is evaluated by comparing the corresponding result of mineral oil. It is found that the breakdown voltage, the viscosity and the relative density of the oil fulfill the requirements specified by the standard, whereas other properties like water content, acidity and oxidation stability need further improvement.

Abstract

The in-line optical signal amplification is often used in optical communication systems to accomplish longer transmission distances and larger capacity. In this proposed paper, the operation of two types of optical amplifiers for 16×10 Gbps wavelength division multiplexing system had been examined by changing transmission distance from 10 to 200 km with a dispersion equals to 16.75 ps/nm/km. The analysis and design of such systems ordinarily includes many signal channels, nonlinear devices, several topologies with many noise sources, is extremely complex and effort-exhaustive. Therefore, theoretical studies with simulation CAD software of systems are become necessity to predict and optimize system performance. The comparison between EDFA and Raman has already explored by many researchers in varying ways in this work and to achieve obove objectives, the OptiSystem software was used to design the proposed fiber optic communications system and to simulate results. Performance for the present system was evaluated for parameters like bit error rate (BER), quality factor (QF), total gain with eye opening factor. It was saw that EDFA provides better results, in the maximal transmission distance 64% better than Raman amplifier, 57.5% for gain and 26.7% for maximum quality factor. As a future study a hybrid amplifier can produce better quality of amplification.

Abstract

Recently, the mud-crab farming can help the rural population economically. However, the existing parasite in the mud-crabs could interfere the long live of the mud-crabs. Unfortunately, the parasite has been identified to live in hundreds of mud-crabs, particularly it happened in Terengganu Coastal Water, Malaysia. This study investigates the initial identification of the parasite features based on their classes by using machine learning techniques. In this case, we employed five classifiers i.e logistic regression (LR), k-nearest neighbors (kNN), Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB), support vector machine (SVM), and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). We compared these five classfiers to best performance of classification of the parasites. The classification process involving three stages. First, classify the parasites into two classes (normal and abnormal) regardless of their ventral types. Second, classified sexuality (female or male) and maturity (mature or immature). Finally, we compared the five classifiers to identify the species of the parasite. The experimental results showed that GNB and LDA are the most effective classifiers for carrying out the initial classification of the rhizocephalan parasite within the mud crab genus Scylla.

Abstract

Aiming at the mechanical testing of three-dimensional specimens with feature size of centimeter level, a miniaturized tensile platform, which presents compatibility with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and metallographic microscope, was designed and built. The platform could accurately evaluate the parameters such as elastic modulus, elongation and yield limit, etc. The calibration experiments of load sensor and displacement sensor showed the two kinds of sensors had high linearity. Testing of transmission error and modal parameters showed that the platform presented good following behaviors and separation of resonance region. Comparison tests based on stress-strain curve were carried out between the self-made platform and the commercial tensile instrument (Instron) to verify the feasibility of the platform. Furthermore, the in situ tensile experiment under metallographic microscope was carried out on a kind of manganese steel.

Abstract

In this paper, the design of digital compass with voice output is described, so that the blind can also use it. The digital compass is designed based on up-graded conventional compass. In the axis direction of conventional compass be added a disc as source of wind direction information, and phototransistor as sensor. The digital compass system is designed, based on AT89S52 microcontroller, as control of all interfaces and read sensor. The LCD component is used as display and ISD 2590 IC as voice recorder. The IC can record with maximum capacity 90 seconds. The voices output of compass is divided into 8 direction from the north, southwest, west and the next. The result showed that the design of digital compass work as like conventional compass completely by voice feature.
