Abstract

Batik is an Indonesian national heritage which has been recognized as a world cultural heritage (world heritage). Batik is widely used as clothing material. The advancement of technology allowed the material optimization in clothing design. Geometrical information of batik image is required in a modul for optimizing clothing design with batik as raw material. Geometric feature extraction of batik image is used to help computer to recognize batik's pattern or motif. This research proposes a method for geometric feature extraction of batik image by using cardinal spline curve representation. The method for geometric feature extraction is divided into 2 processes, i.e., feature extraction for Klowongan and feature extraction for Isen-Isen. Klowongan represents pattern of batik image, whereas Isen-Isen is content patterns of Klowongan. Feature extraction of Klowongan is performed by deleting collinear points from object boundaries until the dominant points are obtained. The dominant points are then used as control points. Feature extraction of Isen-Isen is performed by saving coordinate of every connected components which are also used as control points. Geometry feature of batik image is represented as a set of control points of klowongan and isen-isen. Batik image can be reconstructed by drawing cardinal spline curve using a set of control points in the geometric representation. The experiment shows that the reconstructed images is visually similar with the original batik image.

Abstract

The cognitive radio technology can provide dynamic spectrum access and improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization. Spectrum sensing is one of the key technologies of cognitive radio networks. The spectrum sensing performance of cognitive radio networks will be greatly reduced in the low SNR environment, especially when using energy detection. Due to the monostable stochastic resonance system can improve the energy detection system output SNR, a monostable stochastic resonanceis applied to spectrum sensing based on the energy detection method of cognitive radio networks in this paper. The simulation results show that in the low SNR environment, when the false alarm probability is constant, the proposed spectrum sensing based on monostable stochastic resonance has better performance than traditional energy detection.

Abstract

Bio-energy from biogas can be produced through anaerobic digestion of either organic solid waste or wastewater. Energy production process in the digester is however sometimes hard to be monitored due to manual measurement, otherwise it needs a high technology requiring a high cost budget. This paper presents a low cost technology to monitor the process by using Android based smart phones which can easily be integrated in human daily activity. A program was built by using Eclipse in order to give send/receive command to/from the hardware and display the measurement data on the registered smart phones. The measurement controller was put at the anaerobic digester to record temperature and Relative Humidity (RH) data to memory card and to transmit the data to smart phones. In the experiment with 20 data samples, mean errors were repectively -0.317 oC, 0.932 oC, and 1,378 % for temperature sensor LM35, and temperature and RH sensor using SHT11. Mean squared error for LM35 was 0.373 oC and for SHT11 was 1.117 oC and 2.629 % for temperature and RH respectively. The system has been also implemented in the real anaerobic digester. Electrical energy consumption was 0.623 Wh with 30 minutes cycle time and one minute sampling time.

Abstract

Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) developed based on mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET). VANET have different characteristics than MANET, on VANET mobile node (MN) moves faster, topology changes dynamically. The previous research shows that the model of mobility affects to the network performance. In this paper, the Gauss-Markov mobility model used to illustrate the motion of the MN, which illustrates changes of acceleration, speed, location, and direction at any time. This paper enriches the evaluation of the performance of Gauss-Markov mobility model on LTE-VANET hybrid network, by evaluating various network performance metrics, particularly, packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput, and delay. This research evaluated the Gauss-Markov mobility model and performed with the number of nodes and randomness index (α) that varies by utilizing NS-3 software. The results show that there is a strong correlation between PDR, throughput, and delay with the addition number of MNs. Based on the simulation result, the hybrid LTE-VANET produce better delay compared to pure VANET. The average delay is smaller 40% compared to pure VANET. This simulation also concludes that different value of alpha on Gauss-Markov mobility model does not influence PDR, throughput, and delay.

Abstract

E-learning is one of the information and communication technology products used for teaching and learning process [35]. An efficient and effective way to construct trust relationship among peer users in e-learning environment is ranking. User-driven ranking systems are based only on the feedback or rating provided by the users. In [46-48] the authors provide a variety of trust and reputation methods. Certified Belief in Strength (CBS) [45] is a novel trust measurement method based on reputation and strength. In [38] author presents a recommendation system based on the relevant feedback review to predict the user's interests, that are ranked based on the recommendations history they provide previously. Users with higher rating obtain high reputation compared to less scored users. In question answering websites like StackOverflow, new or low scored users are ignored by the community. This discourage them and their involvement with the community reduces further down, as power law states, alleged low users are pushed to the bottom of the ranking list. Avoid this condition by encouraging less reputed users and prevent them from moving further down in ranking level. Thus, low reputed users are provided with few more chances to participate actively in the e-learning environments. A splay tree is a Binary Search Tree with self-balancing skill. The splay tree brings the recently accessed item to the top of the tree, thus active users are always on the top of the tree. A splay tree is used to represent user's ranks, and to semi-splay low ranked users again in the tree thus preventing them from further drowning in the ranking list. The focus of this research work is to find and enhance low reputed users in reputation system by providing few more chances to take part actively in the e-learning environment using the splay tree. Normalized discounted cumulative gain (NDCG) acts as a decision part for identifying drowning users.

Abstract

The museum's tourism object currently has a low visitor level compared to other tourism objects, even though the museum's function is very important as an enhancer of people's cultural knowledge. Judging from the small level of visitors, it cannot be separated from the effects of the promotion carried out by the museum. From the surveys that have been conducted, museum promotion uses social media more directly to the public, banners, radio, television, blogs and internet social media. In this study, an application that serves to promote museums using gamification methods was designed, this method was chosen because of the many existing promotional techniques, there is still little promotion using game content, therefore the gamification method is expected to encourage the motivation of users to visit the museum. This application will provide convenience to the museum management to promote the museum with media game content without having to spend large development and maintenance costs.

Abstract

This research proposes a simulation of the logic series of speech recognition on the MFCC (Mel Frequency Spread Spectrum) based FPGA and Euclidean Distance to control the robotic car motion. The speech known would be used as a command to operate the robotic car. MFCC in this study was used in the feature extraction process, while Euclidean distance was applied in the feature classification process of each speech that later would be forwarded to the part of decision to give the control logic in robotic motor. The test that has been conducted showed that the logic series designed was precise here by measuring the Mel Frequency Warping and Power Cepstrum. With the achievement of logic design in this research proven with a comparison between the Matlab computation and Xilinx simulation, it enables to facilitate the researchers to continue its implementation to FPGA hardware.

Abstract

This paper presents a new compact microstrip filtering antenna with modified shaped slots to improve the impedance bandwidth. The proposed microstrip filtering antenna consists of three parts; the monopole radiating patch antenna, the SIR filter, and the feeding microstrip line. The design structure is achieved on one sided glass epoxy FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant ε_r = 4.4 and thickness of h = 1.6 mm. The design procedures of the proposed filtering antenna starts from the second order Chebyshev low pass filter prototype. The simulation results throughout this article are done by a computer simulation technology (CST) software. The simulated results have been achieved show good performance of S11-parameter and broad side antenna gain on +z-direction. This design has two transmission zeros at 5.4 GHz and 7.7 GHz, and bandwidth (B.W) of about 1.66 GHz so; it is suitable for high speed data communication. This design has good skirt selectivity.

Abstract

This paper aims to contribute to the modeling and control of the double star induction machine (DSIM) by a robust method called active disturbance rejection control (ADRC). The ADRC has become in the last decade one of the most important techniques of regulation. This method is based on the use of an ESO (Extended State Observer) which estimates in real-time and at the same time the external disturbances and the errors due to the variations of the parameters of the machine and to the uncertainties of modeling. The two stators of DSIM are powered by three-phase inverters based on transistors and MLI control and the entire system is modeled in Park's reference. We analyze in the Matlab/Simulink environment the dynamic behavior of the system and the different ADRC controllers under different operating conditions. The result has demonstrated the performance and effectiveness of the ADRC.

Abstract

In the study, we analyzed and clarified the effect of green (Y,Gd)BO3:Tb3+ phosphor on chromatic homogeneity and optical performance of multi-chip white LEDs (MCW-LED). Thereby there is a solution to get the best luminous efficiency. In addition, (Y,Gd)BO3:Tb3+ is known as one of the factors that has a significant impact on lighting performance, so it needs to add the (Y,Gd)BO3:Tb3+ phosphor in the structure of LEDs to combine with the yellow phosphor YAG:Ce3+ to receive the best results. Therefore, the concentration and size of (Y,Gd)BO3:Tb3+ should be choose carefully so that the presentation of MCW-LEDs would be more incredible. The results show that when the concentration of green-emitting (Y,Gd)BO3:Tb3+ phosphor tends to increase, it also helps the color homogeneity and the lumen efficiency of MCW-LEDs with the average correlated color temperature (CCT) of 5600 K-8500 K become better.
