Abstract

Production processes in modern industry demand higher levels of quality and efficiency in their products. The “Hermanos Díaz” Oil Refinery Company of Santiago de Cuba, a fundamental pillar in the economic and social development of the eastern part of the country, has a chemical water treatment plant responsible for supplying processed water to the industry’s boilers. The current state of this plant supports the lack of optimal physical-chemical conditions in the water it delivers and, therefore, the gradual deterioration of the boilers. This work conceives an automation solution for the dosing, precipitation, and clarification processes of the chemical water treatment plant. Control systems were designed based on instrumentation proposals, enabling reliable measurements and practical actions. In addition, an algorithm of supervision and automatic control using a programmable programmable logic controller (PLC) is presented, making the plant capable of delivering a product in optimal conditions. Images were designed for local and remote process control using a human-machine interface (HMI) panel and a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. Finally, an automation architecture with a decentralized periphery is proposed to ensure safety and accuracy in the system’s decision-making through communication protocols.

Abstract

The failure reasons of reciprocating sealing in OPI-1800AWS fracturing pump are analyzed by scanning electron microscope technology (SEMT). The lubrication mechanism of plunger seal friction pair is analyzed by hydrodynamic lubrication theory. During its discharge and suction stroke, the reciprocating sealing friction pair meets the conditions of hydrodynamic lubrication, a certain thickness of oil film can be formed and maintained between the plunger and V-shaped sealing interface, which can lubricate sealing pair, reduce friction and improve lifetime. The axial pressure distribution of the V-shaped sealing is carried out by theoretical analysis and experimental testing. According to the distribution curve of axial pressure, the V-shaped sealing failure and the determination of the number of loops are discussed.

Abstract

In this study, a microstrip patch antenna that works at 3.6 GHz was built and tested to see how well it works. In this work, Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 has been used as the substrate material, with a dielectric permittivity of 2.2 and a thickness of 0.3451 mm; it serves as the base for the examined antenna. The computer simulation technology (CST) studio suite is utilized to show the recommended antenna design. The goal of this study was to get a more extensive transmission capacity, a lower voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), and a lower return loss, but the main goal was to get a higher gain, directivity, and efficiency. After simulation, the return loss, gain, directivity, bandwidth, and efficiency of the supplied antenna are found to be -17.626 dB, 9.671 dBi, 9.924 dBi, 0.2 GHz, and 97.45%, respectively. Besides, the recreation uncovered that the transfer speed side-lobe level at phi was much better than those of the earlier works, at -28.8 dB, respectively. Thus, it makes a solid contender for remote innovation and more robust communication.

Abstract

Dielectric characterization is very essential before the material can be utilized in designing microwave networks. Circular cylindrical resonators have been widely used for material characterization, but it is not a preferable design during the measurement of liquid samples as the sample placement requires repetitive process of opening and closing the lid of the cavity. This repetition procedure easily affects the accuracy of measurement and may lead to a measurement error. In this study, a rapid and less measurement procedure of liquid material characterization is proposed. The proposed rectangular resonator design is far more convenient and easier to handle as it does not require complex sample preparation. Considering electric field leakage, a hole is designed at the top of the cavity to ease the inserting process of sample. A 5-GHz prototype of a rectangular resonator is designed and fabricated to measure a liquid sample. Complex scattering parameters are measured using a vector network analyzer before the dielectric properties are estimated using an inverse technique. The dielectric properties of distilled water are measured to demonstrate the practicality of the proposed measurement technique. As a result, the measured dielectric properties of distilled water show a reasonable agreement with the values from other literature

Abstract

Internet access is getting easier in various places, including Indonesia. Telecommunication media are no longer dominated by the use of pulse signals but have shifted to relying on internet access. This study aims to create a data visualization of internet speed in Bekasi urban sub-districts using the business intelligence (BI) model with online analytical processing (OLAP). Clustering was carried out using two methods, namely the K-means and K-medoids methods which were selected based on the Davies Bouldin index (DBI) value. This study produced a visual data prototype from the results of clustering from the data mining process and was accompanied by supporting data in the form of information on the highest and lowest speeds in the studied sub-districts. The clustering process uses K-means for uploading data with a DBI value of 0.847, while the data download uses K-medoids with a DBI value of 0.871. The prototype displays observation data, maximum and minimum value information, and the clustering result. The functional test result for the prototype showed conformity with the requirements, while the validation test showed that the prototype passed the validation test with a score of 0.8833.

Abstract

This study aims to design and evaluate a wireless electronic stethoscope that can transmit heart sound using Bluetooth HC-05 and Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter. This novel design contributes to the remote diagnosis and monitoring of heart conditions, especially for patients with infectious diseases. The heart sound signals are captured using a mic condenser mic, amplified, filtered, and converted to digital data by a microcontroller. The data are then transmitted by Bluetooth HC-05 to a module and by Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter to a headset. The quality-of-service parameters such as throughput, delay, and packet loss ratio (PLR) of the data transmission at different distances are measured. The results show that the wireless electronic stethoscope can transmit heart sound data with a small PLR of 0.10% and a throughput of 1002.5 bps. The study concludes that the wireless electronic stethoscope is an effective and useful device for examining heart conditions remotely, without compromising the functionality of the device

Abstract

Filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (F-OFDM), a technology which is being considered as a promising platform for beyond 4G era is expected to help deliver the new features at millimeter wave in the new 5th generation of cellular communication. Some of its key features notably better spectral utilization, enhanced throughput and immunity to interference can be enabling for the new cellular standards. These features of filtered OFDM comes with strict requirements of filter design, guard tone managements, and efficient channel state information harness. This paper is intended to propose an intuitive channel estimation scheme which will allow efficient acquisition of channel state information (CSI) through exploiting the redundant steps of the conventional pilot training-based algorithms and by also using an adaptive weight to expedite the minimization of the error between the estimated values and the actual values. Various simulations will follow to demonstrate the superiority of the scheme over traditional pilot-based algorithms and thus prove its utility in the current 5G cellular era.

Abstract

This research explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in accounting systems, focusing on user experiences and challenges faced by accountants and financial professionals. Using qualitative methods, in-depth interviews with diverse accounting professionals reveal key themes: optimism mixed with skepticism about AI’s potential, concerns over algorithm transparency, and trust issues due to the “black box” nature of AI systems. Participants highlight inadequate training programs, which hinder effective AI use and fuel resistance to adoption. The study also discusses the impact of AI on job roles, emphasizing a shift towards strategic thinking and advisory functions while routine tasks are automated. Implementation challenges include system compatibility, data integration issues, and significant resource investments, compounded by organizational resistance and lack of executive support. The findings stress the need for transparent AI algorithms, comprehensive training programs, and managed job role transitions to maximize AI benefits. This research provides insights into real-world user experiences, offering a roadmap for organizations to support effective AI integration in accounting, leading to improved performance, job satisfaction, and acceptance of AI technologies.

Abstract

In the last decade, numerous researches in the field of ‎electro-encephalo-graphy (EEG) and brain-computer-interface ‎‎(BCI) have been accomplished. BCI has been developed to aid ‎disabled/partially disabled people to efficiently communicate ‎with the community. This paper presents a control tool using ‎the Neurosky Mindwave headset, which detects brainwaves ‎‎(voluntary blinks and attention) to form a brain-computer ‎interface (BCI) by receiving the system signals from the frontal lobe. This paper proposed an alternative computer input device ‎for those disabled people (who are physically challenged) ‎rather than the conventional one. The work suggested to use ‎two virtual keyboard designs. The conducted experiment ‎revealed a significant result in developing user printing skills ‎on PCs. Encouraging results (1.55-1.8 word per minute ‎‎(WPM)) were obtained in this research in comparison to other ‎studies.

Abstract

Since the advent of cellular networks represented by the first-generation GSM to the current generations (4G, 5G) represented by the LTE network. This brought about a qualitative revolution in cellular networks in terms of quality, speed, and efficiency. The emergence of cellular networks accompanied by the need to locate the user for commercial and marketing purposes, therefore emerge need for the concept of location-based services (LBS). However, with the increased reliance on cellular networks by users, there appeared a second trend to locate the user for security purposes and emergency. This was the first system established in the United States of America, called federal communication commission (FCC) 911. Position locating has also penetrated the military, security, and police investigations fields to locate criminals. Therefore, we review the methods of determining location in LTE networks. We evaluate each method and identify its weaknesses. In addition, we determine the most appropriate method for law enforcement. Based on the evaluation that showed the most effective way to determine the location used by law enforcement authorities is the radio frequency (RF) fingerprint. Then employment of artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) to obtain an optimal method.
