Abstract

The rapid expansion of internet of things (IoT) technology has necessitated the development of user-friendly programming solutions for non–experts. While generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) offers the potential to democratize code development, its ability to assist in the intricate task of automated debugging, particularly regarding hardware integration remains a critical area of research. A design research approach was employed, employing a structured four – phase workflow: error analysis, diagnostic execution through prompting, iterative solution analysis, and functional verification. The methodology was applied to an experimental case study involving an air quality (AQ) monitoring system. The study tested the artificial intelligence (AI)’s capacity to debug C++ code intended for the Arduino integrated development environment (IDE). Gemini AI successfully identified and resolved three critical logic errors arising from mismanaged MQ135 calibration variables, incorrect loop sequencing, and data desynchronization between the organic light emitting diode (OLED) display and the internal status logic. GenAI proved effective as a programming assistant for resolving bugs in IoT applications. However, effective debugging still depends on well-structured prompts and a basic understanding of the underlying IoT hardware.

Abstract

The paper delves into an in-depth analysis of the intrinsic resistance of the inverted pendulum system which causes the modeling of the system to differ from the actual system. Our primary objective revolves around the implementation and subsequent optimization of fuzzy logic controllers (FLC), drawing inspiration from human perceptual assessments. The processing comprises comprehensive mathematical system modeling, intrinsic resistance examination, and improved fuzzy logic control with detailed membership function and rule design. In addition, we conduct a comparative analysis with the widely recognized linear quadratic regulator (LQR) algorithm, which is considered the conventional control algorithm. The result demonstrates that the improved FLC outperforms the conventional LQR algorithm overshoot mitigation, thereby underscoring its superior efficacy and optimality.

Abstract

In this study, we analysis on the performance of pointing error effects for reconfigurable intelligent surfeces (RISs) aided free-space optical (FSO) communication link over moderate to strong atmospheric turbulence channels. Among these solutions, RISs are considered as hardware technology to improve performance of optical wireless communication systems. Performance evaluation of systems is affected by atmospheric attenuation, pointing errors and moderate to strong atmospheric turbulence channels for quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) technique. Atmospheric turbulence channel from moderate to strong is modeled using gamma-gamma distribution. Several numerical results obtained the average symbol error rate (ASER) performance versus beam waist radius and signal to noise ratio for three value of pointing error displacement standard deviation. From the results, it is show that with RIS assisted can effectively improve the performance and link distance of the wireless communication systems.

Abstract

This paper proposes a study of an energy harvesting system for powering wireless sensor network (WSN) devices. The thermal energy harvesting system used is based on the thermal energy source between ambient air at the soil surface with five depth levels. Measurement was taken for 46 days in a garden area located in Melaka, Malaysia. A feasibility study of soil temperature measurement to obtain a temperature gradient can be used for harvesting by using thermoelectric generators (TEG) modules. Then, the efficiency of TEG with several different configurations based on temperature gradient data has been tested in the laboratory. The results revealed that the depth of soil 6 cm between sensors 1 and 3 will gave the best representation of level average temperature different around 1 ℃. Based on the temperature gradient data, the combination of three TEG SP1848 in a series connection with DC-DC step-up circuit DC1664 will produce an optimum voltage output of about 3 V. This output voltage is enough to operate low power IoT device derived from thermal energy.

Abstract

Robotics technology has progressed rapidly since its debut in 1922, evolving from simple programmable automation to highly sophisticated systems. This study employs a hybrid methodology, combining qualitative analysis of key robotic components manipulators, controllers, end effectors, and geometric configurations with quantitative comparison of performance metrics to classify robots according to their technological level (low-tech versus high tech). The findings show clear distinctions across these levels. Low-tech robots typically achieve positioning accuracy of about 0.025 mm and rely mainly on single electric motor actuation, making them suitable for simple, repetitive tasks. In contrast, high-tech robots can perform complex operations with positioning accuracy of up to 3 mm, integrating multiple actuation systems such as electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic mechanisms for enhanced flexibility and control. Moreover, high-tech robots exhibit greater manipulative capabilities and advanced control systems that enable multi axis and adaptive operations not feasible for low-tech counterparts. These results demonstrate how the technological level directly shapes a robot’s precision, actuation complexity, and functional range, providing a clear framework for selecting appropriate robotic solutions in both industrial and research settings.

Abstract

The internet of things (IoT) has revolutionized connectivity and introduced significant security challenges. In this context, intrusion detection systems (IDS) play a crucial role in detecting attacks in IoT environments. Bot-IoT datasets often face class imbalance issues, with the attack class having significantly more samples than the normal class. Addressing this imbalance is essential to enhance IDS performance. The study evaluates various techniques, including imbalance ratio techniques we call imbalance ratio formula (IRF) for controlling imbalance data, while also testing IRF to compare it with oversampling techniques like synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) and adaptive synthetic sampling (ADASYN). This research also incorporates the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) ensemble model approach to improve IDS performance in dealing with multiclass imbalance issues in Bot-IoT datasets. Through in-depth analysis, we identify the strengths and weaknesses of each method. This study aims to guide researchers and practitioners working on IDS in high-risk IoT environments. The proposed IRF, when integrated with the XGBoost algorithm has been demonstrated to achieve comparable accuracy of 99.9993% while reducing the training time to be on average at least two times faster than those achieved by the other state-of-the-art ensemble methods.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the performance of the A Lite BERT (ALBERT), efficiently learning an encoder that classifies token replacements accurately (ELECTRA) and a robust optimized BERT pretraining approach (RoBERTa) models to support the development of the Indonesian language question and answer system model. The evaluation carried out used Indonesian, Malay and Esperanto. Here, Esperanto was used as a comparison of Indonesian because it is international, which does not belong to any person or country and this then make it neutral. Compared to other foreign languages, the structure and construction of Esperanto is relatively simple. The dataset used was the result of crawling Wikipedia for Indonesian and Open Super-large Crawled ALMAnaCH coRpus (OSCAR) for Esperanto. The size of the token dictionary used in the test used approximately 30,000 sub tokens in both the SentencePiece and byte-level byte pair encoding methods (ByteLevelBPE). The test was carried out with the learning rates of 1e-5 and 5e-5 for both languages in accordance with the reference from the bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT) paper. As shown in the final result of this study, the ALBERT and RoBERTa models in Esperanto showed the results of the loss calculation that were not much different. This showed that the RoBERTa model was better to implement an Indonesian question and answer system.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a predictive model using face recognition-based attendance data and integrating decision support system (DSS) theory with machine learning (ML) techniques to identify high-performing teachers at vocational high schools (SMKs). The novelty of this research lies in integrating theory with the use of face recognition data and ML algorithms to predict and identify high-performing teachers, thereby enhancing decision-making processes and teacher performance management in SMK schools. The dataset consists of SMK teachers' attendance data obtained through a face recognition attendance system, totaling 998 entries. This research employs sensitivity analysis concepts from DSS theory and classification approaches from ML models utilizing support vector machine (SVM), decision trees (DT), and random forest (RF). The models are trained and tested on Google Colab using Python, with data distribution guided by the Pareto principle. The research findings indicate that integrating DSS theory with ML contributes to innovation and benefits in improving decision-making and teacher performance management by successfully predicting high-performing teachers. Evaluation results show the highest accuracy rate of 98% with the RF model, making it the best predictive model compared to the other two models.

Abstract

One dimensional (1D) spectral amplitude coding-optical code division multiple access (SAC-OCDMA) systems are generally known by a strict limitation in the ‎number of users that can simultaneously connect. A main solution to overcome this drawback consists of ‎constructing a two-dimensional (2D) structure using a new hybrid spectral/spatial code through combining a ‎‎one dimensional new zero cross correlation code (NZCC) to a one dimensional multi-diagonal code (1D MD) to easily provide null cross-correlation properties and totally remove the ‎multiple access interferences. Accordingly, this research paper describes an easy and fast technique to ‎construct a hybrid two-dimensional NZCC-MD code based on a non diagonal matrix for SAC-OCDMA systems with‎ direct spectral/spatial dimension (SDD) detection technique and water-filling (WF) optimization. ‎The novel code presents many advantages such as less complex structure, acceptable code length as well as ‎the possibility to construct it for any weight value. The proposed code demonstrates a very good ‎performance for systems with high debit and high simultaneous user number keeps a less complex structure.
