Abstract

Nowadays, millimeter-wave frequencies present a catchy solution to securing the colossal data rate needed for 5G communications. Accordingly, this research deals with the conception of a novel orthogonal 2×2 multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) antenna design operating in the millimeter wave spectrum with quite small dimensions of 11×6×0.8 mm3. The single antenna element consists of a trapezoidal microstrip patch antenna built on the Rogers RT5880 laminate with a permittivity of 2.2 and tangent loss of 0.0009. A trapezoidal-slot ground plane is used to support the structure. The antenna resonates at 28 GHz with a large bandwidth of 4 GHz from 26 to 30 GHz, a good gain of up to 5 dB, and a high radiation efficiency of 99%. A strong isolation is achieved that surpasses 26 dB. Besides, a high diversity performance is achieved where the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is lower than 0.001, the diversity gain (DG) is greater than 10 dB, and the channel capacity loss (CCL) is no longer than 0.4 bit/s/Hz. The achieved outcomes prove the robustness of the suggested MIMO antenna and qualify it to be a strong candidate for 5G wireless devices.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the relationship between perceived ease of use (PEU), perceived usefulness (PU), and task interdependence (TASKINT) on employees’ work performance. Technology acceptance model (TAM) was used as a theoretical perspective to explore technology adoption in the context of employees in higher education using electronic asset management (EAM). Moreover, a quantitative method was used to explain the causality of the relationship between the variables, and a total of 380 respondents were determined as the sample. The results showed that PEU and usefulness had a significant effect on TASKINT. Even though PEU and TASKINT had a significant effect on employees’ work performance, PU did not have a significant effect. In addition, the results showed TASKINT significantly mediated the relationship between perceived ease of use, usefulness, and employees’ work performance. These findings imply that enhancing the ease of use and fostering TASKINT can lead to improved employee performance when adopting new technologies. For higher education institutions (HEI), focusing on user-friendly systems and promoting collaborative tasks can maximize the benefits of technology implementation on work performance.

Abstract

Research and development on power converters are getting more interesting in recent years. It is also buttressed by rapid development in related fields, such as power semiconductor, digital advanced control, magnetic material and use of power converters in many sectors.  In addition to the power quality matter, simplicity of inverter circuits is another notable aspect that should be considered toward economical feature. Adding the quantity of power switches will increase complexity of overall inverter circuits. This paper discusses a circuit configuration of three-level modified sine wave neutral point shorted power inverter which work converting dc power into ac power with less number of power switches. To improve the performance and feature of inverter circuits, the inverter was equipped with online temperature monitoring, and overheat protection based on internet of things. Adding online temperature monitoring system makes easier in monitoring of circuits to prevent the excessive faults of inverter. Some computer based test data are shown and discussed. Furthermore, experiment results of the inverter prototype, and its online monitoring system are presented. Test outputs demonstrated that the proposed system worked properly generating a three-level modified sine wave voltage, with online temperature monitoring system.

Abstract

Microstrip patch antennas are becoming increasingly popular because they are small, have low profiles, are easy to integrate, are very cheap, and work well. For this reason, this antenna could be used for wireless communication systems. This research paper reviews and studies 28 GHz microstrip patch antenna for wireless applications. Different substrate materials have been used to make these antennas, such as FR-4 (loss), FR-4 Epoxy, Rogers RT/droid 5880, TLC-30, Rogers RT/droid 5880 LZ, and others. Different substrate materials and shapes were used to make microstrip patch antennas with a frequency of 28 GHz. This article discusses the different sizes of antennas, the other geometric shapes antennas can take, the different ways antennas’ properties can be analyzed, and the different types of antennas. It will also talk about the material, thickness, loss tangent, return loss, bandwidth, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), gain, efficiency, and directivity of the substrate. This antenna is used for super-high-frequency (SHF), radars, commercial wireless local area networks (LANs), cell phones, and other wireless communications systems.

Abstract

Imbalanced datasets frequently occur in fields like fraud detection and medical diagnosis, where the number of instances in the majority class vastly exceeds those in the minority class. Traditional classification algorithms often become biased towards the majority class in these scenarios. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel method called improved classification using ensemble clustering (ICEC) for imbalanced datasets in this paper. ICEC merges classification with the strengths of consensus clustering to improve the classifier’s generalization ability. This approach utilizes a cluster ensemble to capture the structural characteristics of both the majority and minority classes, and the stable clustering scheme thus delivered is used to generate new auxiliary features. These features enhance the existing feature set, helping classifiers develop a more ro bust predictive model. Extensive testing on fifteen imbalanced datasets from the knowledge extraction based on evolutionary learning (KEEL) repository demonstrates the effectiveness of our proposed method. The approach was evaluated for random forest (RF) and linear support vector machine (SVM) classifiers on these data sets. Results indicate that ICEC proved to be effective for both classifiers, with an observed F1-score improvement of more than 10% for SVM and 3%for RF.

Abstract

Deep learning has gained high popularity in the field of image processing and computer vision applications due to its unique feature extraction property. For this characteristic, deep learning networks used to solve different issues in computer vision applications. In this paper the issue has been raised is classification of logo of formal directors in Iraqi government. The paper proposes a multi-layer convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify and recognize these official logos by train the CNN model on several logos. The experimental show the effectiveness of the proposed method to recognize the logo with high accuracy rate about 99.16%. The proposed multi-layers CNN model proves the effectiveness to classify different logos with various conditions.

Abstract

Load balancing plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient workload distribution and maintaining stable performance in web service systems. This study presents the design and experimental evaluation of a round robin–based load balancing system implemented in a multi-client local area network (LAN) environment using NGINX as a centralized controller. The system consists of three physical machines, comprising one load balancer and two backend servers hosting identical web applications. Multiple clients generate simultaneous hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) requests, which are distributed alternately to the backend servers using the default round robin mechanism provided by NGINX. Experimental evaluation was conducted under three workload scenarios of 50, 100, and 200 concurrent requests. The results show that the round robin algorithm consistently distributes requests evenly between the backend servers. The average response time increased from approximately 110 ms at 50 requests to 165 ms at 100 requests and 290 ms at 200 requests, indicating stable performance under light to moderate load conditions. These findings demonstrate that the proposed system is lightweight, modular, and easy to deploy in resource limited environments. The implementation is particularly suitable for campus-scale networks and small institutional settings, serving as a practical platform for local server deployment, academic applications, and experimental learning in networking and distributed systems.

Abstract

Grid-integrated photovoltaic (PV) systems are currently undergoing explosive growth in Malaysia. However, as more PV systems are installed close to transmission lines, there are concerns about the impact of electromagnetic (EM) properties affecting the performance and operation of the PV systems if they are exposed to lightning strikes, particularly indirect ones. Therefore, this study aims to model the impact of indirect lightning strikes on PV systems installed in proximity to transmission lines. The model involves developing a 3D model of the PV system together with a sample transmission line and creating an artificial lightning event to study the EM activity within the area. The results are compared to the IEC 61000 standard to determine its level of r\hazard. From the simulation results, it was found that the current intensity, H, of the disturbance, can reach up to 63% more than the standard limit stipulated in the standards. The significance of the study ensures that PV systems installed within the vicinity of power lines or substations have adequate lightning protection systems as well as proper earthing systems.

Abstract

3D printing is a process in which material is joined layer by layer under computer control to make a 3D object easy to get almost any shape. This technology finds applications in various fields and it is attracting considerable interest from industry and academia. There are many different brands and models of motors used in 3D printers, and they all vary in quality and effectiveness. In this article we present the principal of the 3D printer, types of motors used in 3D printer and mathematical modelling of this motors like brushless direct current (DC) motor, permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), and stepper motor. The models of analytical equations describing the three systems of motors are evaluated and developed by Matlab/Simunlink. In this paper, we have conducted a comparison of the series of results from simulation between the performance of PMSM, brushless DC and stepper motor. Among several criteria, this simulation study allows to select the criterion of response time to reach the desired speed and the precision of the rotor position to choose the most performant motor for 3D printers.

Abstract

Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET), the development of this network in recent years has become one of the most important areas of research. The primary goal of using the VANET network is to reduce the number of deaths and enhance road safety. VANET network faces some problems when routing packets between vehicles, due to the high-speed movement of vehicles. Therefore, researchers have begun to develop routing protocols in the VANET network to overcome these problems when routing packets between vehicles. In this study, the effect of changing the number of vehicles on the performance of ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) protocol will be studied in the highway environment and in the case of vehicle movement at variable speeds between (40-120 km/h) and the simulation time is 200 sec. The ad-hoc ondemand distance vector protocol performance was evaluated by three performance measures (end-to-end delay, dropped packets, overhead and packet delivery ratio).
