Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is an advanced scientific technology that can provide strong ability to assist in analysis and diagnosis of almost every type of data, therefore; AI widely used in medical fields, which is applied in the diagnosis and early detection of diseases. Kidney disease is one of the common diseases that are diagnosed and the necessary treatments are suggested by artificial intelligence. In this research, a logic system was used. The fuzzy logic system (FLS) is one of the artificial intelligence systems for diagnosing kidney diseases, where the fuzzy logic system divided into five variable inputs, namely urea, creatinine, glucose, bun, and uric acid, and they represented laboratory tests of the patients, this variables and also three outputs were identified, which are chronic inflammation and kidney failure, stones and salts, acute inflammation of the kidneys and bladder, which is the result of the medical diagnosis of the disease. Five memberships for inputs and three memberships for outputs are used in FLS. Diseases are concluded based on the values of the inputs, and thus the system proved its effectiveness and accuracy in diagnosis and this system is considered an aid to the specialized doctors in the field of kidney diseases.

Abstract

Wood species identification is a crucial task in various industries, including forestry, woodworking, and conservation. Traditional methods rely on manual expertise, which can be time-consuming and error prone. Hence, an automatic wood species recognition system is developed in this study using deep learning (DL) models. In this study, three deep convolutional neural network (CNN) architectures, SqueezeNet, GoogLeNet, and ResNet-50 was tailored for wood species classification. The accuracy of the DL models was evaluated in recognizing fifty different wood species. Additionally, the wood species images were altered using JPEG Compression, Gaussian Blur, Salt and Pepper, and Speckle noises to assess the models' performance in identifying the wood species from the distorted images. Results show that the ResNET-50 based wood recognition system is the most accurate model to recognise the wood species. The implications of this research extend to forestry management, quality control in woodworking industries, and the preservation of endangered wood species in conservation efforts.

Abstract

This paper proposes a small structure of robust controller to control robotic arm’s joints where exist some uncertainties and unmodelled dynamics. Robotic arm is widely used now in the era of Industry 4.0. Nevertheless, the cost for an industry to migrate from a conventional automatic machine to industrial robot still very high. This become a significant challenge to middle or small size industry. Development of a low cost industrial robotic arm can be one of good solutions for them. However, a low-cost manipulator can bring more uncertainties. There might be exist more unmodelled dynamic in a low-cost system. A good controller to overcome such uncertainties and unmodelled dynamics is robust controller. A low-cost robotic arm might use small or medium size embedded controller such as Arduino. Therefore, the control algorithm should be a small order of controller. The synthesized controller was tested using MATLAB and then implemented on the real hardware to control a robotic manipulator. Both the simulation and the experiment showed that the proposed controller performed satisfactory results. It can control the joint position to the desired position even in the presence of uncertainties such as unmodelled dynamics and variation of loads or manipulator poses.

Abstract

This letter investigates the properties of a novel multi-band fractal antenna with a triangular geometry that can expand its bandwidth, provide multiband functionality, and enable the best smart antenna technology. The antenna employs an FR4 as support with dimensions of 75x75 mm2 and a thickness of 1.6 mm. A microstrip line with an impedance of 50 ohms feeds the patch. The high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) is applied to develop and simulate the patch. The vector network analyzer AVR ROHDE and SCHWARZ ZVB20 carried out the experimental tests of the prototype antenna. The suggested antenna's simulation results show that it runs on five main frequency bands: 1.840 GHz, 2.770 GHz, 2.940 GHz, 4.330 GHz, and 5.790 GHz, with a high gain that can exceed 6.01dB and an efficiency of 82%. In the operational bands, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is between one and two. The results from the simulation and the experiment are extremely similar.

Abstract

Premature cardiac contractions, including premature atrial contractions (PACs) and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), are common arrhythmias that may increase the risk of cardiovascular complications when they occur frequently. Accurate classification of these events from electrocardiogram (ECG) signals remains challenging due to noise and signal variability. This study proposes a machine learning–based classification framework that combines recursive feature elimination with cross-validation for feature selection and an ensemble learning strategy to improve classification robustness. The approach was evaluated using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Beth Israel Hospital (MIT-BIH) Arrhythmia database and achieved high classification performance, with an accuracy of 95.34%, F1-score of 92.11%, and balanced precision and recall for PVC and PAC. In addition, SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) were employed to identify the most influential features, enhancing model interpretability. The results demonstrate that the proposed framework provides a reliable and interpretable solution for distinguishing premature cardiac contractions, highlighting its potential application in clinical decision support systems.

Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a key crop and a major source of livelihood for a vast population of the world after wheat and rice. However, diseases have diverse effects on potato fields, leading to damage to crops and reducing crop production. The two major diseases that afflict potato plants are referred to as early blight and late blight. Protection of this crop yield from blight diseases is one of the foremost challenges. Therefore, detection of these leaf diseases at appropriate time is very essential to prevent the damage. This study intends an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart potato leaf diseases monitoring and control system that combines IoT technology with eco-sensing and image processing to identify and categorize these diseases. Studies have found that blight diseases are directly related to temperature and humidity of the planted area. This study measures environmental information using a sensor network installed in the planted area. After sensing and measuring environmental information, acquired values are displayed and farmers get these acquired values via message notification. The system obtains a 97% accuracy rate in recognizing these diseases by using our fine-tuned model of ResNet-50 for image processing.

Abstract

5G/6G technologies require higher-performance antennas in terms of bandwidth, gain, radiation, compact size, efficiency, and low cost. At the same time, fewer natural disturbances, such as rain and snow, and fewer non-natural disturbances. This is the challenge facing scientific research into antenna design and manufacture. In addition, in this paper we study and design a flexible circular microstrip patch antenna operating in the 60 GHz band for 5G/6G applications. This antenna is based on a biosourced substrate for industrial, scientific, and medical applications. For this study, we will use two techniques: one concerns the deformation of the ground plane deformation of the ground plane and substrate to improve the electrical performance of a proposed antenna. At the same time, the other is the parametric study of the appropriate position of a coaxial feed probe. This technique has the advantage of requiring no radiation contrition on the part of the coaxial probe. Next, specialized high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) simulation software is used to design this antenna; it has a wide bandwidth above 3 GHz, a gain of 7.41 dB, a directivity of 7.53 dB, a radiated power of 13.55 dBm, an accepted power of 13.67 dBm, an incident power of 15.08 dBm, a radiation efficiency of 97.29 % and an efficiency of 98.4 %.

Abstract

Internet of things (IoT) technology has found more applications that require complex computation while still preserving power. Embedded processors as the core of the IoT system approaches the need for computation by employing a parallel processor system, namely MPSoC. While various MPSoCs hardware is widely available, there is limited software support form of user-friendly libraries and development platform. There is a need for such a platform to facilitate both the study and development of parallel embedded software. arduino as the widely used embedded development platform is yet to officially support multicore programming. This work proposes an arduino-based development environment that supports multicore programming while maintaining arduino’s simple program structure, targeted at specific low-power MPSoC, the RUMPS401. The environment is fully functional, and while it targets only specific MPSoC, the proposed environment can easily be adopted to other MPSoCs with similar structures with minimal modification.

Abstract

In this paper, we design and simulate a 28/38 GHz dual-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) patch antenna array that operates in the FR2 frequency band (28 GHz and 38 GHz). This antenna array comprises four similar patch antennas with a rectangular “L minus two slots” shape. In addition, it applies to 5G electronic components such as a smartphone. We used high-frequency structure simulator (HFSS) software to perform the design and simulation for this antenna. In addition, this proposed antenna array provides better performance, such as; bandwidth around 28 GHz is equal to 0.69 GHz and 38 GHz is equal to 0.86 GHz, equal gains 5. 9 dB at 28 GHz and 9 dB at 38 GHz, directivities are 6.3 dB at 28 GHz and 9.4 dB at 38 GHz, the efficiency of 95.38% at 28 GHz, and efficiency of 96.53% at 38 GHz.
