Abstract

Trajectory tracking control problems of the free-floating space robot are considered by the paper, back-stepping control method based on adaptive neural network is put forward. The complex system is decomposed into several simple sub-systems. The control laws are designed by derived, so that closed-loop stability can be obtained by each subsystem; Because of the influence of interference and the measurement level limitation, accurate mathematical model is difficult to be obtained. Neural network controller of good nonlinear approximation ability is designed to compensate the uncertainty of system model. Adaptive learning laws are designed to ensure that weights can be adjusted online real-time. The system uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) is proved based on the Lyapunov theory. Simulation experiments show that the control method can fast track the desired trajectory, and has a good application value for space robotic manipulators with uncertainty.

Abstract

This research was intended to create a fast and accurate spelling correction system with the ability to handle both kind of spelling errors, non-word and real word errors. Existing spelling correction system was analyzed and was then applied some modifications to improve its accuracy and speed. The proposed spelling correction system is then built based on the method and intuition used by existing system along with the modifications made in previous step. The result is a various spelling correction system using different methods. Best result is achieved by the system that uses bigram with Trie and Damerau-Levenshtein distance with the word level accuracy of 84.62% and an average processing speed of 18.89 ms per sentence.

Abstract

In this work, a novel miniaturized compact coupler using the shunt-stubs artificial transimission lines with high and low impedances is presented. Design of the proposed coupler is accomplished by modifying the length and impedance of the branch lines in the conventional structure with the planar resonators in order to achieve branch line coupler with compact size and improvement of the performances. First part of this work is focusing on the theorical study of the proposed resonators where the equations are obtained. Secondly, the proposed coupler is designed on FR4 susbtrate, and simulated by using the EM Solver (ADS from Agilent technologies and CST microwave studio) in order to operate in the ISM band. The obtained results show good agreement with the simulations and the coupler shows a good perfo6rmance in the hole bandwidth. The size of the proposed coupler is reduced around 50% compared to the conventional design. The last part conerns the fabrication and test of the proposed coupler. The measurement and simulation results are in good agreements.

Abstract

Transmission of electrical power for long distance is one of the major challenges for electrical engineers over the years. The first and foremost target it is to ensure the transport of electric power with minimal losses over the distance. This paper proposes to employ the low frequency alternating current (LFAC) with (16 2/3Hz) instead of the traditional frequency (50Hz) for electrical power transmission based on a simulation study. Two transmission systems have been constructed using MATLAB/Simulink software namely: 50Hz transmission systems and (16 2/3Hz) transmission systems. In addition, three different distances of transport lines have been used to compare the efficiency of the two systems namely: short (50km), medium (150) and long (300km). The result demonstrated that the use of LFAC with (16 2/3Hz) is better than the traditional frequency (50Hz) in term of energy saving.

Abstract

The emergence of Big Data applications has paved the way for enterprises to use Big Data as a value-creation strategy for their business; however, the majority of enterprises fail to know how to generate value from their massive volumes of data. Big Data Analytics results can help the enterprises in better decision-making and provide them with additional profits. Studying different researches dedicated to value creation through Big Data Analytics. This paper (a) highlights the current state of the art proposed for creating value from Big Data Analytics, (b) identifies the essential factors and discusses their effects upon value creation, and (c) provides a classification of the cutting-edge technologies in this field.

Abstract

Quantum algorithms are well-known for their quadratic if not exponential speedup over their classical counterparts. The two widely-known quantum algorithms are Shor’s quantum factoring algorithm and Grover’s quantum search algorithm. Shor’s quantum factoring algorithm could perform integer factorization in O(logN). Grover’s quantum search algorithm could solve the unsorted search problem in O(√N). However, both algorithms are introduced as theoretical concepts in the original papers due to the limitations of quantum technology at that time. In this paper, an improved way is presented to realize the two algorithms into a web application using state-of-the-art quantum technology. The web-app is designed and built considering the uses of a quantum simulator and libraries provided by ProjectQ and Rigetti Forest. The result shows that both algorithms are realizable into web-applications.

Abstract

The face-recognition system is among the most effective pattern recognition and image analysis techniques. This technique has met great attention from academic and industrial fields because of its extensive use in detecting the identity of individuals for monitoring systems, security and many other practical fields. In this paper, an effective method of face recognition was proposed. Ten person's faces images were selected from ORL dataset, for each person (42) image with total of (420) images as dataset. Features are extracted using principle component analysis PCA to reduce the dimensionality of the face images. Four models where created, the first one was trained using feed forward back propagation learning (FFBBL) with 40 features, the second was trained using 50 features with FFBBL, the third was trained using the same features but using Elman Neural Network. For each person (24) image used as training set for the neural networks, while the remaining images used as testing set. The results showed that the proposed method was effective and highly accurate. FFBBL give accuracy of (98.33,97.14) with (40, 50) features respectively, while Elman gives (98.33, 98.80) for with (40, 50) features respectively.

Abstract

Face recognition has been an active research topic in the past few decades due to its potential applications. Accurate face recognition is still a difficult task, especially in the case that illumination is unconstrained. This paper presents an efficient method for the recognition of faces with different illumination by using Gabor features, which are extracted by using log-Gabor filters of six orientations and four scales. By Using sliding window algorithm, these features are extracted at image block-regions. Extracted features are passed to the principal component analysis (PCA) and then to linear discriminant analysis (LDA). For development and testing we used facial images from the Yale-B databases. The proposed method achieved 86–100 % rank 1 recognition rate.

Abstract

The climate change tends to be extreme condition that directly affects on decreasing agriculture production.  Therefore, application of automated system in agriculture activities is the potential issue which must be considered. This paper presents ON-OFF and ANN controllers which are applied to the automated irrigation system. Controlling irrigation system used a calculated Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration and a reference of soil moisture as the compared input. Input parameters of the evapotranspiration included temperature, heat radiation, atmosphere pressure and wind speed. The use of feed forward ANN included 1 input layer with 15 neurons and 2 hidden layers with 10 and 5 neurons and 1 output layer and 1 input layer, 2 hidden layers with 96 and 1 neurons and 1 output layer, errors are 14.3% and 3.9%, respectively. Error of the ON-OFF controller with sampling time of 0.05 second is equal to the error of ANN controller. The performance of such controllers were evaluated and compared based on error of both controllers.  The simulation result of ON-OFF controller was used as the reference of controller development based on ATmega 8 microcontroller. The simulation results show that the error of the ON-OFF controller can be easily adjusted by setting the sampling time of the dead zone discretization.

Abstract

Lithium-ion battery has become the mainstream energy storage element of the electric vehicle. One of the challenges in electric vehicle development is the state-of-charge estimation of battery. Accurate estimation of state-of-charge is vital to indicate the remaining capacity of the battery and it will eventually maximize the battery performance and ensures the safe operation of the battery. This paper studied on the application of extended Kalman-filter and third order Thevenin equivalent circuit model in state-of-charge estimation of lithium ferro phosphate battery. Random test and pulse discharge test are conducted to obtain the accurate battery model. The simulation and experimental results are compared to validate the proposed state-of-charge estimation method.
