Having done an analysis on the security vulnerabilities of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) through a desynchronization and an impersonation attacks, it is revealed that the secret information (i.e.: secret key and static identifier) shared between the tag and the reader is unnecessary. To overcome the vulnerability, this paper introduces Shelled Lightweight Random Value (SLRV) protocol; a mutual authentication protocol with high-security potentials conforming to electronic product code (EPC) Class-1 Generation-2 Tags, based on lightweight and standard cryptography on the tag’s and reader’s side, respectively. SLRV prunes de-synchronization attacks where the updating of internal values is only executed on the tag’s side and is a condition to a successful mutual authentication. Results of security analysis of SLRV, and comparison with existing protocols, are presented.

Aiming at the waste of computing resources resulting from sequential control of running mechanism of MapReduce model on Hadoop platform,Fork/Join framework has been introduced into this model to make full use of CPU resource of each node. From the perspective of fine-grained parallel data processing, combined with Fork/Join framework,a parallel and multi-thread model, this paper optimizes MapReduce model and puts forward a MapReduce+Fork/Join programming model which is a distributed and parallel architecture combined with coarse-grained and fine-grained on Hadoop platform to Support two-tier levels of parallelism architecture both in shared and distributed memory machines. A test is made under the environment of Hadoop cluster composed of four nodes. And the experimental results prove that this model really can improve performance and efficiency of the whole system and it is not only suitable for handling tasks with data intensive but also tasks with computing intensive. it is an effective optimization and improvement to the MapReduce model of big data processing.

Streaming technology is currently experiencing a great progress. Faster internet more users streaming. Streaming services that exist today there are still weaknesses in both the upload speed, streaming speed and limited types of video extensions that can be played. To resolve these problems then made a video streaming service based local area network with a system of cloud computing that can work effectively in terms of upload speeds, streaming and variations in video formats. Video streaming application is classified as a service IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service Cloud) in cloud computing. On the use of streaming applications the user does not need to convert the video, with the purpose of uploading process can be faster and applications can play a variety of video formats.

In multimedia transmission, it is important to rely on an objective quality metric which accurately represents the subjective quality of processed images and video sequences. Maintaining acceptable Quality of Experience in video transmission requires the ability to measure the quality of the video seen at the receiver end. Reduced-reference metrics make use of side-information that is transmitted to the receiver for estimating the quality of the received sequence with low complexity. This attribute enables real-time assessment and visual degradation detection caused by transmission and compression errors. A novel reduced-reference video quality known as the Spatial Information in Salient Regions Reduced Reference Metric is proposed. The approach proposed makes use of spatial activity to estimate the received sequence distortion after concealment. The statistical elements analysed in this work are based on extracted edges and their luminance distributions. Results highlight that the proposed edge dissimilarity measure has a good correlation with DMOS scores from the LIVE Video Database.

This paper reports about the development of a modular unit of a higher level framework or tool whose intended objective is the creation of animated lessons for basic programming (CS1) course in computer science discipline with visual aids. The goal of such lessons is to address the difficulties faced by the novice programmers in CS1 course. This module here after referred to as ‘type writer’allows instructors to render programmes or code snippets in a live typing manner as opposed to their sudden or en-block placement on the presentation area like a Power Point Slide; a commonly used approach in the present day eLearning. This project is planned to be executed in two stages and ‘type writer’ is the outcome of the first stage. This would be combined with another two modules that are planned to be developed in the second stage, to make the complete tool. The entire tool would be developed in Action Script 3.0 language that works on Adobe Flash Platform.

A major part of the success of human-robots integration requires the development of robotic platforms capable of interacting in human environments. Human beings have an environment designed for their physical and morphological capacity, robots must adapt to these conditions. This paper presents a fuzzy-sliding hybrid grasp control for a five-finger robotic hand. As a design principle, the scheme takes into account the minimum force required on the object to prevent the object from slipping. The robotic hand uses force sensors on each finger to determine the grasp state. The control is designed with two control surfaces, one when there is slippage, the other when there is no slippage. For each surface, control rules are defined and unified by means of a fuzzy inference block. The proposed scheme is evaluated in the laboratory for different objects, which include spherical and cylindrical elements. In all cases, an excellent grasp was observed without producing deformations in the fragile objects.

The brain is a vital organ in the human body that acts as the center of the human nervous system. Brain-computer interface (BCI) uses electroencephalography (EEG) signals as information on brain activity. Hospitals usually use EEG as a diagnosis of brain disease. Combining EEG as part of IoT (Internet of Things) with high mobility is challenging research. This research tries to make a low-cost BCI framework for motorcycle riders. Analysis of brain activity from EEG data when motorcycle riders turn left or turn right. Therefore, the method of further installation must produce the right features to obtain precise and accurate brainwave characteristics from EEG signals. This research uses the concept of IoT with software engineering to recording human brain waves so that it becomes a practical device for the wearer. The purpose of this study is to create a low-cost BCI framework for obtaining EEG data.

In the present article, the selection process of the topology of an artificial neural network (ANN) as well as its configuration are exposed. The ANN was adapted to work with the Newton Raphson (NR) method for the calculation of power flow and voltage optimization in the PQ nodes of a 10-node power system represented by the IEEE 1250 standard system. The purpose is to assess and compare its results with the ones obtained by implementing ant colony and genetic algorithms in the optimization of the same system. As a result, it is stated that the voltages in all system nodes surpass 0,99 p.u., thus representing a 20% increase in the optimal scenario, where the algorithm took 30 seconds, of which 9 seconds were used in the training and validation processes of the ANN.

The axial flux wound rotor generator has field winding that should be connected to a dc voltage source. Varying the excitation voltage, its electric performance might be controlled to meet the need of a load voltage attached to its terminal. The generator designed is small-scale capacity which has 1 kW, 380 V and 750 rpm. The generator has a single double-sided slotted wound stator sandwiched between twin rotor. The effect of excitation voltage changes on its performance can be seen from the result of calculations using the given equations. The calculation results reveal electric quantities suited with respect to performance of the machine. If the voltage is higher then the losses will be lower. However, the higher the voltage, the higher the efficiency and the torque. It has been found out that for the excitation voltage11 V, the efficiency and the torque are 85.12 % and 13.04 Nm respectively.

Predicting timing of student graduation would be a valuable input for the management of a Department at a University. However, this is a difficult task if it is done manually. With the help of learning on the existing Artificial Neural Networks, it is possible to provide training with a certain configuration, in which based on experience of previous graduate data, it would be possible to predict the time grouping of a student’s graduation. The input of the system is the performance index of the first, second, and third semester. Based on testing performed on 166 data, the Artificial Neural Networks that have been built were able to predict with up to 99.9% accuracy.
