Abstract

In this research, we tested the heterogeneity of speed of adjustment toward target leverage among industries on the Indonesian stock exchange by using two-step partial adjustment model. The sample collected from 2007-2016 and consisted of firms in eight sectors, i.e. agriculture, mining, basic industries, miscellaneous, consumer goods, property and real estate, infrastructure, utilities and transportation as well as trade, services and investment sectors. Firms in the financial industry are excluded because the capital structure of firms in the financial industry reflects specific regulations and are not independent firms’ policies. The results showed that speed of adjustment ranged from 61% - 45% for book leverage and 67% - 43% for market leverage. This significant speed of adjustment is consistent with trade-off theory, which states that firms have target leverage and when firms are deviated from the target, firms will make financial decisions that will close the gap between previous year’s leverage and the target leverage of current period.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethics index of education services at universities in Indonesia with an approach to marketing education services. This is because service ethics is a long-term investment to build trust by providing services that can create ethical education. This research was calculated using the “weighted average value” of each indicator of service ethics, with a population of students from State and Private Universities in Banjarmasin and Makassar. Based on findings obtained from two major groups of the University, namely Higher Education in the City of Banjarmasin and Higher Education in the City of Makassar, the University has a Good Higher Education Ethics Performance (KEPT). Each University, whether Higher Education in Banjarmasin City or Higher Education in Makassar City has different characteristics, for Higher Education in Banjarmasin and Makassar City have similarities with the highest aspects in the Education Service Ethics Index in Higher Education, namely Lecturers provide opportunities for students to apply the lowest questions and aspects, namely the campus building does not provide facilities for students with disabilities or special needs (there are no block or road markers, there are toilets for people with disabilities, names or room numbers using braille).

Abstract

This study aims to explain how the psychological process affects perceived organizational politics (POP) toward organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB). The paradoxical effect of POP to OCB needs to be explained through two psychological processes: First, the mediation effect of psychological safety which explains POP as a barrier to OCB. Second, the mediation effect of careerism which explains POP as an OCB driver. One of the government institutions in Malang District used as research objects, involving 97 employees as respondents. A quantitative approach using Partial Least Square (PLS) used as the method of this study. The results showed careerism mediated the relationship between POP and OCB. But the surprising result is that psychological safety cannot mediate the effect of POP to OCB because employees feel that there is no high threat of doing voice behaviour, helping behaviour and individual initiatives in the political environment. These results indicate that OCB is a safe activity when it does not contrary to other people’s self-interest, so it does not cause a conflict.
