Abstract

This paper is aimed at describing adaptive strategy used by supported community to preserve and develop Jathilan, Javanese traditional ritual art performance. In describing the aim, the most fundamental nature and meaning attached in the artistic performance had been studied. Qualitative method was employed through literature review and field study. This study located in Magelang Regency, Central Java. The Jathilan in this paper is seen as cultural identity for its supported community, that has a specific role socially and ritually. The supported community, in addition, believes that this traditional art is not only acted as an entertainment, but also a facilitator for their hopes and prays. Despite some changes have influenced the differences of style and variation in the performing art, however, the changes themselves are the manifestation of adaptive strategy had from the supported community to preserve and conserve Jathilan performing art.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan:  (1)  struktur ruwatan massal dengan pergelaran wayang kulit purwa lakon Murwakala; (2) makna simbolik yang terkandung dalam ruwatan massal yang dikemas dalam penyelenggaraan dan pergelaran wayang kulit lakon murwakala; dan  (3)  fungsi sosial ruwatan massal yang dikemas dalam pergelaran wayang kulit lakon Murwakala.  Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan teori fenomenologi tentang perilaku peserta ruwatan, teori struktural, teori semiotika, dan teori fungsi sosial. Pengumpulan data menggunakan pengalaman terlibat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  struktur lakon dan struktur pergelaran wayang kulit lakon Murwakala, makna lakon, jejer atau adegan, terdiri 3 babak permulaan, pertengahan, penyelesaian. Setiap babak memiliki unit-unit yang lebih kecil, lengkap dengan eksposisi, komplikasi, konflik dan penyelesaian. The objectives of this research are to find out (1) the structure of mass ruwatan by purwa shadow puppet show entitled Murwakala, (2) the symbolic meaning inherent in the mass ruwatan embedded in the show of Murwakala shadow puppet. The method of research uses phenomenological approach about the behavior of ruwatan participants, structural theory, semiotic theory, and social function theory. Data collection uses the related experience. The finding of the research shows the play structure of Murwakala shadow puppet show, the meaning of the play, jejer or scenes, which consists of 3 stages: beginning, middle, and ending. Each stage has its smaller units, complete with exposition, complication, conflict and resolution.

Abstract

Laesan art is a kind of traditional art, which is a result of aesthetic expression of people with trancephenomenon in side. Here, implicit symbols occur in Laesan art, then it is interpreted by theaudiences and applied in terms of behavior patterns of people in Bajomulyo. From that phenomenon,research studies are form of aesthetic expression and meaning of symbols of Laesan art. Thisresearch uses qualitative approach, with data collection technique done by interview, observation ofparticipants, and documentation study. Analyzing data done by reducing, clarifying, decrypting,concluding, and interpreting all information selectively. Techniques of checking relevance data weredependability and conformability. Research result show that Laesan art having aesthetic expressionin: a) in the beginning, core, and the end of the show, b) supporting substance of the show consist ofperformance equipments; dance movement; offbeat; make up and clothing; and stages. Symbol thatshape meaning in the process of symbolic interaction consists of incense, offerings, accompaniedsing, and meaning of trance in Laesan. Suggested that Laesan art need to be repackaged in order tomake it better and have a high sale price, it is need to be conserved and inherited to the nextgeneration to avoid extinction.Kata Kunci : laesan, laes, ekspresi estetis, makna simbolis, trance

Abstract

Guru sekolah dasar, khususnya di Sematera Selatan bingung ketika para guru dihadapkan dengan mata pelajaran baru yang disebut Muatan lokal. Mereka harus mengajarkan matapelajaran muatan lokal (seni tari) sementara mereka tidak tahu apa yang harus diajarkan. Tulisan ini diharapkan dapat mengatasi kesulitan itu. Muatan lokal adalah mata pelajaran baru pada kurikulum 1994. Dahulu, materi muatan lokal dititipkan pada pelajaran lain, seperti PPKn., Bahasa Indonesia. Sekarang materi ini berdiri sendiri dan terpisah dari pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, PPKn, dan sebagainya.Banyak materi muatan lokal yang dapat di ajarkan di sekolah dasar. Tetapi dalam artikel ini hanya dibicarakan tentang tari sebagai alternatif materi muatan lokal. Tari Gending Sriwijaya adalah tari tradisional Palembang. Abstract

The goal of this article is to bring to light lareh nan bunta as a form of representation of the system of democracy – or power – developed by Dt. Nan Sakelap Dunia. The discussion in this paper uses a qualitative method which is backed up by quantitative data. The data was collected through participant observation, interviewing, discussion, and analysis. The analysis was carried out using a descriptive method using theoretical reasoning, with knowledge of aesthetics and art. The results of the research show that conceptually, talempong basaua is a musical reality which represents lareh nan bunta in Luhak 50 Koto Minangkabau. Lareh nan bunta is a synthesis of the influence of power – or dialectic – between lareh kotopiliang (autocracy) and lareh bodicaniago (democracy), each with its own system of leadership. The dualism in the autocratic and democratic systems of power form a balancing power known as lareh nan bunta – a combination of all three existing conceptions. Lareh nan bunta is also reflected in the concept of musical aesthetics in talempong basaua in Luhak 50 Koto Minangkabau. Talempong basaua represents a combination of two musical concepts, namely talempong and the rhythms or irama of dendang (vocal music), which are combined to create a new genre.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of in-service teacher in supervising the pre-service teachers during the Teaching Practicum Program and in building the pre-service teachers’ character to be competent music teachers in the future. This study implements narrative inquiry as the method of research. Narrative inquiry method explains the variety of cases during the process of supervision by the in-service teacher. In addition, the research was held in Pasundan 8 Senior High School Bandung and was analyzed further by using qualitative methods with interactive analysis as it is formulated in the research question of this study. Results show that the supervision by an in-service teacher has been successfully enhanced the ability of pre-service teachers in teaching art and culture, particularly music lesson. The competence of pre-service teachers can be achieved by giving them examples, model, and music experience from in-service of the pre-service teachers.

Abstract

Salah satu tari tradisi Jawa di Keraton Surakarta yang masihdianggap keramat dan mempunyai daya magis adalah SrimpiAnglirmendhung. Tari ini disejajarkan dengan Bedhaya Ketawang.Pengucapan mantram atau doa sebenarnya suatu peristiwa magis, karenaberdasarkan pendirian bahwa kekuatan sakti yang keluar dari ucapanucapanitu bisa membuat dewa-dewa atau roh untuk memenuhi keinginanmanusia. Syair tembang Durma dalam gending kemanak Anglirmendhungitu sebenarnya adalah mantram (doa) yang mempunyai daya magis,kepercayaan seluruh pendukung (umat) terhadap adanya ilmu gais/magis,menjadikan tarian Anglirmendhung merupakan tari yang sakral. SrimpiAnglirmendhung dipercaya oleh masyarakat Keraton Surakarta khususnyadan kalangan seni tradisi di Surakarta dianggap mempunyai daya magisdan dapat mendatangkan hujan.Kata Kunci : Religio-magis, Anglirmendhung, hujan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji ada tidaknya perbedaan minat terhadap musikcampursari antara masyarakat remaja golongan atas dengan masyarakat remaja golongan bawahdi Semarang. Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah kuantitatif. Populasi, seluruh remajaSemarang. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling. Ukuran sampel104 orang, terdiri dari remaja golongan atas 52 orang dan remaja golongan bawah 52 orang.Analisis data untuk menguji perbedaan, menggunakan rumus uji beda dua rata-rata (t-tes).Analisis data untuk mengetahui kategori besaran minat, menggunakan analisis deskriptifkategoris. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, minat terhadap musik campursari antara masyarakatremaja golongan atas dengan masyarakat remaja golongan bawah, ada perbedaan. Kategoribesaran minat diketahui, masyarakat remaja golongan atas masuk dalam kategori cukupsedangkan masyarakat remaja golongan bawah masuk dalam kategori besar. Disarankan,hendaknya campursari sebagai seni budaya lokal mendapat perhatian yang serius dari semuapihak agar keberadaannya tidak lenyap ditelan jaman. Dalam hal ini perlu ditumbuhkan kreatorkreatorbaru utamanya dari kaum remaja sebagai generasi penerusnya.Kata kunci: campursari, stratifikasi sosial, minat, remaja, seni

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the teaching culture in the indigenous community. This study explores the local knowledge system in the practice of music teaching in an indigenous community of Kampung Naga, Tasikmalaya regency. This is an ethnographic research to give a detailed analysis on each case and to understand the phenomena from the point of view of the doers. This study documents the local knowledge system in music teaching culture in Kampung Naga, including nu dirampa (tried, explored), nu dirasa (perceived, contemplated), and nu nyata (used, applied). Hopefully, these findings can be the foundation of education, conservation, and innovation, and also as skills to improve the society’s welfare, not only Kampung Naga society, but also other societies, especially in the context of education at school.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan vokal setelah diberikan metode solfegio pada peserta didik kelas VIII A di SMP Negeri 2 Kayen Kabupaten Pati tahun 2009/2010 dan untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas belajar vokal setelah diberikan metode solfegio peserta didik kelas VIII A di SMP Negeri 2 Kayen abupaten Pati tahun 2009/2010. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif  kualitatif dan kuantitatif, rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas dilakukan dua siklus setiap siklusnya empat pertemuan, pada semester dua tahun pelajaran 2009/2010.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 40 peserta didik mencapai kriteria baik jumlahnya 33 peserta didik (82,5 %). Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode solfegio di kelas VIII A SMP 2 Kayen Kabupaten pati dapat meningkatkan kemampuan vokal peserta didik. Berdasarkan analisa data keadaan dipengaruhi adanya respon yang baik dari peserta didik terhadap latihan intonasi, ritme serta harmoni. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode solfegio di kelas VIII A SMP 2 Kayen Kabupaten Pati, peningkatan aktivitas belajar pada kegiatan visual activities, listening activities, oral activities serta motor activities pemberian latihan-latihan dengan metode solfegio memberikan stimulus yang menyenangkan terhadap aktivitas belajar sehingga terjadi perubahan pengalaman belajar. Rerata aktivitas belajar vokal peserta didik dengan nilai 3.86 dengan skor 40 – 52 (50) predikat aktivitas belajar sangat baik. The goals of this research are to find out the improvement of vocal skill of students at VIII A class of 2009/2010 year of Public Junior High School 2, Kayen, Regency of Pati after having been treated with solfegio method and to identify how the method could improve the students’ vocal learning activity. Technique of data analysis used descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The design of action research was conducted in two cycles; each cycle consisted of four meetings, in the second semester of 2009/2010 year. The finding shows that among 40 students, 33 of them reached a good criteria (82,5%). The research shows that the use of solfegio method in the class could improve students’ vocal skill. Based on data analysis, the condition was influenced by good response from students toward intonation, rhythm, and harmony practices. It also shows that the use of the method could enhance students’ visual, audio, oral, and motor activities; giving more exercises by solfegio method could give an enjoyable stimulus to their learning activity so that their learning experience changed accordingly. The average grade of students’ vocal learning activity was 3.86 with the score of 40 – 52 (50); the learning activity was considered very good.
