Abstract

The demands of the National Standards for Higher Education require undergraduate graduates to be able to think at a high level. In addition, the demands of the disruption era want technology-based education and learning. The COVID-19 pandemic has become a momentum to integrate the two because learning is forced to be done at home with online learning. The results of the preliminary study show that students in online learning are not able to proactively compile their knowledge and lecturers need curriculum tools that refer to high-level thinking according to government demands. Based on the two demands and the results of the preliminary study, a solution is needed. One of the preferred solutions is curriculum development through MOOC-Science development research efforts to improve the high-level thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers. This research aims to develop MOOC-Science that has valid multimedia content that can improve high-level thinking skills and analyze the effectiveness of MOOC-Science on higher-level thinking skills. This development research uses a 4D model research design consisting of 1) definition; 2) planning; 3) development; and 4) the spread. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis and statistical analysis. The results of the study concluded that 1) multimedia MOOC-Science is very well validated; 2) the high-level thinking skills instrument is very well validated; and 3) MOOC-Science has proven to be very effective in improving the higher-level thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers. Suggestions for other researchers can use MOOC-Science with the addition of more complex multimedia features as an alternative to improving the higher-level thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers.

Abstract

This research examines the digital literacy skills of elementary school teachers from a gender perspective, comparing male and female teachers in their implementation of digital literacy in learning activities at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo. SD Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo has integrated digital technology into its learning activities, in line with its slogan, "Islamic and Digital School." This makes it an appropriate setting to investigate whether the educators possess the necessary digital literacy skills and effectively apply them in their teaching practices. The research employs a qualitative approach, producing descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words and observable behaviour using various natural methods. The study specifically focuses on the digital literacy skills of teachers from a gender perspective at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo. The findings indicate that the school's environment and classrooms are consistent with its vision, mission, and slogan of "Islamic and Digital School" in realizing and implementing digital education. Additionally, both male and female teachers demonstrate very good digital literacy skills. Based on data analysis from interviews and questionnaires, it can be concluded that the digital literacy skills of teachers, regardless of gender, fall into the "very good" category and align with the digital literacy indicators set by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo). Abstract

The decline in reading interest hinders the quality of student learning, reducing reading literacy skills. In education, reading is a mandatory activity for students. The presence of a school library can help improve students' reading literacy and support the teaching and learning process. A library serves not only as an information source but also as a learning facility that supports the achievement of educational goals. To meet these goals, school libraries must be developed in terms of management, collection, and facilities to enhance students' reading literacy. This research aims to explore the importance of libraries in improving the reading literacy of fourth-grade elementary school students and to assess the library's contribution to enhancing their reading literacy. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques, involving the principal, one second-grade teacher, the fourth-grade homeroom teacher, and five fourth-grade students. The findings indicate that the school library contributes effectively by improving reading literacy and supporting the teaching and learning process, thus enhancing student learning outcomes. A well-equipped school library, with easy access, engaging literacy activities, proactive librarian roles, and stakeholder collaboration, can significantly improve students' reading literacy. Students involved in various literacy activities tend to have a high interest in reading, leading to improved reading skills and comprehension. A well-managed library becomes a literacy center supporting students' academic success and development.

Abstract

This research aimed to reveal various reasons that encourage teachers to use outdoor learning, the implementation of outdoor learning in schools, obstacles, and the positive impact of implementing outdoor learning at SDN 2 Tajinan. Researchers employed a descriptive qualitative approach, where data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The research results showed that the reasons teachers use outdoor learning include increasing learning engagement, providing authentic learning experiences, honing skills, and introducing students to the environment. Apart from that, outdoor learning is carried out to connect theory and practice in everyday life, create contextual learning, and develop social skills, problem-solving, and students' curiosity. Outdoor learning is carried out by inviting students to plant plants in the school environment, visiting the Arhanud Education Center in Batu City, and inviting students to get to know the environment around the school. The obstacles faced by teachers are difficulties in conditioning students due to the large number of students and the weather and natural conditions. Apart from that, implementing outdoor learning requires more thorough preparation and tends to take longer than conventional learning. The positive impacts that arise include being able to increase student enthusiasm and involvement in learning, making learning more lively, and increasing students' social-emotional aspects, responsibility, and concern for the environment.
