Abstract

This research is descriptive research that aims to get a description of the effectiveness of Mind Mapping strategy in speaking teaching and learning process. The subject of the research is students of the educational program of UNESA English Department 2009 A, and they are 24 students. The setting of the research is in English Department campus of UNESA. It is in Lidah Wetan. The data sources are material documents, lesson plan document, observation result, and the field notes.From the data analysis result, it is known that the application of Mind Mapping strategy in speaking teaching learning process run well. It was proven by the students’ capability in constructing Mind Mapping related to the article given by the lecturer. Beside that, students were also able to present an article with free topic. By applying Mind Mapping strategy, students were able to present a topic clearly and in good arrangement.

Abstract

 This research is done based on the phenomenon in which the teenagers have a lack of motivation to make a relationship with the others. The process how to make a relationship with the peers in Panti Asuhan environment. The purposes of the research are to know the effective the group guidance using peer groups in order to increase the teenagers’ capability to make a close relationship. Based on the effective test toward 40 teenagers in Panti Asuhan environment that is designed using pretest – posttest one group design through t-test. It shows that peer group technique is very effective to make a close relationship in Panti Asuhan Khoiriyah Hasyim Surabaya.

Abstract

 Teaching English is not easy especially for non-English department. It is required a method to motivate the students in order to study English well. In the classroom action research is used kooperatif learning Jigsaw type to improve the students’ score and to motivate them. The results show that this method is very effective to develop the students’ capability. Most of them like to study English.

Abstract

Laser and Fiber Optics course is one of the subject option that is very important. It must be mastered by the students taking the instrumentation and computing skills program. The results of previous observations, namely the Laser and Fiber Optics Subject year 2008/2009 toward the physic students, shows the results of the subject is still less satisfactory. It is caused by the students who do not understand the materials. It can be seen from the lack of active participation in class numbers. As a result the students do not have motivation to ask and answer the questions. By using action research, there is an imprivement toward the students’ participation in Lasers and Fiber Optics subject. The first cycle shows that there are 22 students who are active in this subject. And in the second cycles, there are 36 students who are active. It means there is an improvement.

Abstract

The main problem in learning process of tennis in Physical Education Department, especially S-1 Penjaskesrek, is the students have lack of motivation in participating in tennis classes. In addition, lecturer also still applies old-fashioned teaching methods, i.e. speech, so that less stimulates them to participate actively during class. These conditions led to less student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the results for middle evaluation (middle test), obtained an average value of students were still below the standard that is less than 60, even in a class no one received an A. According to that background, operational problems in this research can be formulated as follows: (a) How does students’ motivation to learn tennis with the use of multimedia and hand-on teaching model?; (b) How are students’ learning outcomes in tennis class with the use of multimedia and hand-on teaching model? After did 2 cycles, students’ motivation to learn tennis has increased (from 122.51 ± 21.049 to 141.49 ± 15.22). Their learning outcomes also increase. As many as 51 students have gotten ≥ 60.
