Abstract

ABSTRACT   Ngaben is a religious ceremony conducted by Hindu-Balinese society and has shifted. The shift indicates a change in the interrelation between people in the ceremony ngaben in crematorium. Research question divided into two questions: 1) What factors encourage people choose held ceremony ngaben in crematorium and 2) How the social interaction between people in conducting ceremony ngaben in crematorium. The theory used in this research is the social exchange theory George Caspar Homans. The social exchange theory find an exchange that happened between people who are involved in the ceremony ngaben in crematorium. The people involved in the ceremony ngaben in crematorium have the motivation to benefits earned and affect the social interactions. The research method used was qualitative. Research sites in the Secretariat Maha Gotra Pasek Sanak Sapta Rsi and Crematorium Santha Yana. The result of research shows the factors that encourage people choose held ceremony ngaben in Crematorium Santha Yana is a socio-cultural, social structure, economy, and energy and time. Social interaction in the ceremony ngaben in Crematorium Santha Yana is cooperation and conflict. The conclusion of this research is people choose ceremony ngaben in Crematorium because effective and efficient. Keywords: ngaben in crematorium, social interaction

Abstract

ABSTRACT Parents inability toward environment condition in their place of origin made them allowed the children to work as tukang suwun in Badung Market. This condition makes Lentera Anak Bali Foundation empowering the children who work as tukang suwun. The aim of this research is to describe the process, understanding and analyze the empowerment impact of children as tukang suwun. Empowerment process is being analyzed with empowerment theory by Parsons. Qualitative method with descriptive approach is used in this research. The result of research shows that empowerment of children as tukang suwun conducted by using mezzo approach of Parsons theory. The empowerment of mezzo approach is utilized to the group of children as tukang suwun by joint program with SKB (Sanggar Kegiatan Belajar) as government institution who educate functional literacy and entrepreneur literacy. The education and training are used as a strategy of empowerment by Lentera Anak Bali with SKB. The type of education and traning given is informal education and skill traning. The empowerment impact has seen from several changes of the children tukang suwun. Those changes can be seen by physical condition (such as cleanness and healthiness), behavioral (attitude in language used, politeness is increasing than before) although SKB had incharge financially however, the capability of children as tukang suwun unseen in their live skills. Abstract

ABSTRACT In light of a growing interest in South Korea pop culture, widely known as hallyu or Korean wave, this study set out to identify its trend fashion through dramas, musics, online shop and mall. It also describe girls’ consumptive behaviors to buy cosmetics, clothes and other accesories. Descriptive approach with qualitative method were used to describe Karl Marx's commodity fetishism theory related to those behaviors. The findings of this study confirmed that girls in southern Jakarta bought Korean fashion products because its unique, simple, high-quality and made from natural ingredients cosmetics. Second, the beauty of idols had influenced them in consuming and willing to spend money on their appearance the Korean mode. They would satisfied if they can buy those branded stylish and products. Abstract

Abstract The aquaculture industry of mangrove forests is using for economic welfare. Mangrove ecosystems, especially in Taman Wisata Hutan Raya Ngurai Rai, Denpasar Selatan, are rapidly declining by illegal logging and wastes. This research identified the roles of photographers as environmental social movement in protecting deforestation. Based on a qualitative exploratory research, the ecological theory of the city by Robert E. Park, and Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, I observed and interview 19 informants. The results of this study argued that the photographers mobilization efforts to address youth engangement in environmental campaigns by shared photographs of deforestation of mangroves in social media. They also asked non-government organizations and local government for joining and involving in these campaigns. Keywords: photographer, mangrove, forest, environmental social movement, social media

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the presence of Trans Sarbagita which have an impact in the daily life of people in Denpasar. Trans Sarbagita is a government-owned public transport by Bali Province is enough to attract attention, especially the people of Denpasar. Different level of socioeconomic status Denpasar becomes interesting when linked with the use of Trans Sarbagita as a mode of daily transportation. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether or not the influence of socioeconomic status of people in Denpasar with the selection Sarbagita Trans  as a mode of transportation. Theory that used in this research is social stratification. This study used quantitative research methods using non-probability sampling technique to 100 respondents that people in Denpasar as Trans users Sarbagita corridor I and II. Based on the occupation, the use of Trans Sarbagita dominated with lower socioeconomic status with an average job such as students, drivers, workers, retirees and housewives. Based on the latest education, the use of Trans Sarbagita dominated by people in Denpasar with a moderate level of socioeconomic status with an average of the last education is high school, while based on income, use of Trans Sarbagita dominated by low socioeconomic status levels with an average income below Rp 1.500.000, -. Judging from the frequency of use Trans Sarbagita in a week, the level of socioeconomic status (employment, education, income) does not affect the election of Trans Sarbagita as a mode of transportation. Abstract

ABSTRACT Balinese culture, especially the young adult comunity in Denpasar in particular is the result of the long process of assimilation and acculturation. The influx of new modern cultural that goes to Bali have been pervasive in the various aspect of  peoples lives in Bali, including the pattern of living among young adults, modern lifestyle and consumerism. This research aims to know the factors that affect the behavior of adolescent to young adults related to premarital sex in Denpasar, and how to prevent premarital sex behaviors that are currently already a considerable problems if not immediately resolved. The subjects of this study are some young adults who each earn an income in Denpasar which is indeed identified. The technique of data collection conducted in this study is an in-depth interview, observation technique used in this study using a non participant observation, where researchers did not directly involved in the activities of the subject. From the results of data analysis, it showed that premarital sex behaviors in young adults in Denpasar have several factors that can be affected, such as the influence of peers, age in puberty stage, economic status, social control and lowself concept in their selves. There are several suggestions to prevent premarital sex behaviours among young adults in Denpasar i.e. by choosing good peers and listen to what the parents told limit the young adults sex desires and strengthen the values of religion and education.   Key words: Young adult, Premarital Sex, Income Earners.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cultural and religious ceremonies are an inseperable part of the life of Balinese people. Numerous ceremonies that need to be done by Balinese people indirectly makes kebaya an important clothing. This research describes different ways that are done by Balinese women in Ubud Village to create ideal impressions through their kebaya. The concept of dramaturgy by Erving Goffman and qualitative methods are used to portray this phenomenon. In ceremonies that bring happiness Balinese women usually use kebaya in bright colors. However, in ceremonies that cause sadness, they prefer to use kebaya in darker colors. White or yellow kebaya are usually used for religious ceremonies. Thus, Balinese people in Ubud use different kinds of kebaya for different ceremonies. As the front stage, Balinese women will wear new kebaya with high heels, makeup and hairdo to represent their concept of a beautiful and ideal appearance. On the other hand, back stage is various activities to prepare for their appearance in the front stage. This activity includes buying kebaya, going to the salon, and exercising. These activities are done to prepared beautiful and ideal appearance when they interact with others, because essentially every human being wants to represent themselves to others. Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konstruksi sosial tattoo artist di studio tato di Legian, Kuta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menggunakan dua sumber data yaitu data primer dan data sekunder yang dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode observasi partisipasi. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori konstruksi sosial Berger dan Luckmann dan data didapatkan melalui mengamati dan mewawancarai para informan di studio tato. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan terdapat tiga produk konstruksi sosial tattoo artist, yaitu 1).Tattoo artist sebagai sebuah ekspresi seni, 2).Tattoo artist sebagai penyedia jasa. 3).Tattoo artist sebagai identitas diri. Kata Kunci : Konstruksi Sosial, Tato, Tattoo Artist, Seni.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Deviations consume liquor in the community, students. Data analysis shows that is why they consume liquor, because there are several factors that cause and occurrence forms due to liquor as well as the social impact of irregularities liquor, because they interact in the wider community in the city of Denpasar. According to Durkheim conditions that encourage individualistic nature, social structure and Merton disagreement about the five types of social deviation behaviors of individual adaptation. This research was conducted in July to September 2014 in, in-depth interviews, observation and document study and data analysis. Mechanical determination informant 25 people as key informants. Students Papua alcohol originated from Papua call themselves friends, peers, curiosity, alcohol addiction, self-control is weak, and lack of morals or religion. After alcohol occurs forms and effects of social aberrations, such as sick, accident, theft, fights and pregnancy. Keywords: Irregularities, Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages
