Abstract

Women prophethood has always been an alien concept to Islamic theology. According to modern as well as mediaeval mainstream Islamic schools of exegeses, jurisprudence and even according to everyday schools of fatwa: women are either too inferior, too week, or even not pure enough to meet the requirements or handle the challenges associated with prophethood. However, rethinking the Quranic text, in isolation from mediaeval gender biased narrow preferences, proves this view to be wrong. In this paper I provide a uniquelinguistic analysis of the Quranic story of Maryam, the mother of Jesus and the only woman mentioned by name in Quran. Maryam as I argue, is acknowledged in Quran as a female prophet: chosen equally to all chosen men, i.e., male prophets and above all women. In addition, a logical analysis in favor of Maryam’s prophethood will be provided. The juxtaposition of both evidence supports women prophethood.

Abstract

Abstract

The Holy Quran is such a book of rectitude and instructions which has immersed itself in the complete intellect for human welfare. In fact, it includes all types of matter whether dry or moist. There is no aspect or turn of human life, which has not been provided complete guidance to the human beings at every step. This also eliminates the doubts of human nature, removes the suspicions and the nonsense, protects from the predicament of self-made concepts, abolishes the human consideration from every type of uncertainties and guardsman from every kind of misleading, and guides him towards Allah Almighty, Who is the Lord and Master of all creatures. But the condition is that the man should seek guidance from Allah Almighty and may display obedience. At present, a major part of the Muslim Ummah is a victim of disintegration and differences. The efforts being carried out in the name of religious meditation are not for the preaching of Islam but are being wasted in the debate of Islam and infidelity among their own ranks. The religion of Islam, which is the preacher of human equality and unity, has become a source of promoting disintegration through deplorable efforts. Now the issue has gone beyond arguments and disputation, as no member of the Muslim Ummah is ready to listen to the other’s opinion. A series of non-stop indiscriminate killings and bloodshed has initiated, and bonfires of hatred have been inflamed on the name of Islam, which is the key to affection, brotherhood, and unity of the Ummah.  The reason for this prevailing situation is due to the evading from the teachings of the Holy Quran and relating this achievement of benevolence to the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran is being considered as the book of guidance only to the extent of text, but help regarding the corporeal and life after death is sought from the sources which are against the Holy Quran’s teachings and guidance. Before any ceremony or sermon, the verses of the Holy Quran are being recited, but then whatever is spoken or presented is entirely considered the spirit of the Holy Quran. The heaps of hatred and animosity are raised. If we follow the principles of the unity for Muslim Ummah provided by the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) the existing situation can entirely change.

Abstract

This study critically discusses the pros and cons of the circular letter (surat edaran) of the Aceh governor and Ulama Consultative Council (MPU) Decree No. 2 of 2020 related to responses and public evaluation of the prohibition of the religious learning forums (pengajian) other than Ahlussunnah Waljama’ah. This research is a qualitative research with three data collection techniques: meticulous observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The result of the study showed that there were pros and cons related to the circular letter and decision on the prohibition of conducting pengajian that contradicts the I’tiqat of Ahlussunnah Waljama’ah which is based on Syafi’i School of Law. Among them, according to the Aceh government and the MPU, the circular letter is intended to prevent greater abuses in the form of disunity in the Acehnese community due to differences in understanding in matters of worship. Meanwhile, others failed to understand the circular letter and MPU decrees because they consider them weak and were greatly influenced by certain conservative Islamic figures in Aceh, appearing to some people as political activity and power.

Abstract

This study presents a scientific explanation of a very important verse (Ayat), 95:4 in the holy Qur’an. The verse is in sura At-Tin, states that:  ﻟَﻘَﺪْ ﺧَﻠﻘْﻨَﺎ اﻹِﻧﺴَﺎنَ ﻓِﻲ ٲَﺣْﺴَنِ ﺗَﻘْﻮِﻳﻢِ : "Verily, We created man in the best statue (mould)”. In response to the “best statue”, a mysterious observation is proposed by  correlating the four oaths of Allah (Sobhan wa tawla: SWT) which imposed before starting this verse, with the help of physical structure of oath materials, knowledge of medical science and other verses in the holy Qur’an. That is – the statue of human body (Adam) represents the combine structure of Arabic words (ﻣﺤﻤﺪ) Muhammad (Peace be upon him: PBUH) and (اﻟﻠﻪ) Allah (SWT), which made his (Adam) superiority to all others. Thus humans became the topmost creature in the whole universe, and his body structure is created in the best statue, mentioned in the verse of the holy Qur’an. Actually, the creation of such a structure of the human body is the outlook of the infinite love of Allah (SWT) to His prophet Muhammad (SAW). Regarding this, supporting verses in the holy Qur’an are discussed.
