Abstract

The primary objective of Qur’anic interpretation is to address its pressing significance, necessitating meticulous analysis. Hasan Hanafi seeks to overturn the classical approach, where interpretation starts from the Qur’an and moves towards understanding reality, by proposing a reverse trajectory, from reality to the text. This research delves into the methodological framework of Hanafi’s socio-phenomenological approach to Qur’anic interpretation. The socio-phenomenological approach, rooted in philosophy and social sciences, is employed as a tool for engaging with the Qur’an. Its aim is to mitigate subjectivity and prioritize the urgency of addressing communal concerns through interpretive studies. Content analysis is the research methodology employed, specifically employing descriptive analysis to comprehensively scrutinize the data at hand. A thorough library research method was implemented, encompassing an extensive survey of meticulously selected literature. The findings reveal that Hasan Hanafi’s interpretation aligns with the fundamental thematic method but adopts a more eclectic approach. Hanafi places greater emphasis on the pressing interests and challenges faced by the community, which are then confronted with the Qur’an in search of solutions. By emphasizing the relevance of the Qur’an to the social realities and phenomena of contemporary society, Hanafi’s method advocates for a dynamic and contextually sensitive interpretation that addresses the community’s urgent needs and problems. This study highlights the strengths of the socio-phenomenological approach, notably its capacity to provide holistic and profound understandings of social contexts and phenomena. Through its engagement with diverse disciplines and perspectives, this method encourages a comprehensive interpretation that takes into account the multidimensional nature of social issues.

Abstract

This research study highlights the paramount significance of Quranic ethics within the domain of Islamic psychology, particularly in addressing the psychological challenges of contemporary society. By recognizing the crucial role played by spirituality and ethical behavior in mental well-being, Islamic psychology offers a valuable framework for promoting comprehensive wellness and social equity. This study employs a qualitative research approach and follows a systematic methodology comprising several key steps, including literature review, data collection, data analysis, framework development, and validation. The findings of this study demonstrate that Islamic psychology and Quranic ethics provide a distinct and invaluable perspective on human behavior and mental health, addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals in the modern world. As the primary source of Islamic teachings, the Quran serves as the foundational basis for the framework of Islamic psychology, offering a holistic approach to understanding human beings. Notably, the Quran presents a comprehensive set of moral guidelines that can be applied and developed within the context of Islamic psychology. The framework of Quranic ethics encompasses various dimensions, including moral guidance, virtues and character development, self-reflection and accountability, spiritual well-being, ethical decision-making, and healing/forgiveness. By incorporating Quranic guidance on moral conduct, virtues, self-reflection, and forgiveness, Islamic psychology provides practical solutions that acknowledge the profound significance of spirituality. This integration empowers individuals to derive strength, discover meaning, and establish a sense of purpose through their faith.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to undertake a comprehensive and in-depth examination and analysis of the discourse surrounding Islam Nusantara, considering the evolutionary trajectory of ideas introduced by Gus Dur concerning the indigenization of Islam, spanning from the 1980s to the present-day concept of Islam Nusantara promoted by PBNU. As a result, the study endeavors to achieve a profound understanding and knowledge of the Nusantara Islamic civilization, which places utmost value on pluralism, tolerance, and the principle of rahmatan lil alamin, embodying compassion for all of creation. The research methodology employed in this study entails a rigorous review of relevant literature, drawing on diverse scholarly works exploring Islam Nusantara and tracing the origins of these ideas. Particular emphasis is placed on analyzing Gus Dur’s perspectives regarding the indigenization of Islam. The study’s findings reveal a significant correlation between the ideas espoused by Gus Dur and several noteworthy phenomena observed in contemporary Indonesian Islam. Firstly, a prevalent misinterpretation of jihad exists within specific segments of the Muslim community, leading to the emergence of explicit terrorist movements, such as ISIS and its sympathizers in Indonesia. Secondly, ongoing violations of religious freedom and beliefs continue to persist within the country. Thirdly, there is an expanding range of religious narratives and discourses prevalent in society that tend to lean towards radicalism and exhibit an aversion to diversity. Consequently, this study substantiates the notion that Islam Nusantara holds the potential to serve as a solid foundation for constructing a framework of religious moderation, serving as a crucial response to the progressively pervasive discourse and practice of religious radicalism within society

Abstract

This article explains the philosophy and legal principles of 'adam al-gharar bai' al-salam contract practiced by modern society. In contemporary economic practice, the bai' al-salam contract is widely used in online transactions. Online transactions raise various new problems such as; non-compliance with the specifications of the product ordered, quantity that does not match the order, quality that does not match the order, until there is uncertainty of accountability in the event of damage to the product. The methodology of this article uses a literature study with descriptive analysis. Data were obtained from various books, journals and other online sources. The results of the study show that the philosophy and principles contained in bai' al-salam are mutual help, certainty, and justice. As for the practice of online transactions, the legal principle of 'adam al-gharar bai' as-salam can be applied as long as the seller lists and describes the size, quality of the product or its constituent materials on its online platform

Abstract

This research aims to comprehensively explore the following aspects: (1) the conceptual frameworks employed by Persis scholars in their understanding of polygamy from the perspective of Persis women; (2) the subjective interpretations and meanings of polygamy among Persis women; and (3) the empirical realities and experiences of religious practice among Persis women regarding polygamy. The study adopts a qualitative research approach, utilizing socio-phenomenological methods, specifically drawing upon symbolic interactionism theory and social construction theory within the Bergerian sociology of knowledge, as the analytical framework. The research findings reveal significant variations in the perspectives of Persis scholars regarding the doctrine of polygamy. These divergences can be attributed to differences in educational backgrounds among Persis scholars (asatidz). Central to the debates are interpretations of justice within the context of polygamy, the criteria for engaging in polygamous marriages, the understanding of the permissible number of wives, and the interpretations of scriptural verses related to polygamy, whether regarded as mutasyabihat (ambiguous) or muhkamat (clear). In terms of the understanding of polygamy among Persis women, socio-cultural factors play a significant role, resulting in a context where Persis women in Garut perceive themselves as equal to men. Consequently, they assert their personal rejection of polygamy, while simultaneously recognizing its permissibility within the framework of Islamic teachings. In practice, instances of polygamous marriages among Persis women are rare, primarily due to the perception that the requirements for polygamy are nearly unattainable (suprahumanization of polygamy

Abstract

Islamic economics actually still has the opportunity to develop and become an alternative in facing global challenges. However, the development of Islamic economics requires a strong theoretical foundation. The purpose of this study is to show the importance of epistemological research in the field of Islamic economics. There are two approaches that can be used in analyzing Islamic economics, namely descriptive and thematic. Both are interrelated in the process of strengthening the study of Islamic economics. Therefore, based on the epistemological approach, there are two types of Islamic economic studies that are normatively based on rationality and religiosity, and both cannot be separated from the moral basis of Islam. This research method uses the literature survey method by utilizing library resources in obtaining data, to prepare a theoretical framework and also to strengthen the methodology. Then the validity of the Islamic economic methodology can be tested based on the consistency of the internal system and its compatibility with various systems that govern the dimensions of human life. By supporting Islamic economics as a normative science, a combination of rationality and religiosity will continue and be sustained, as this will develop an economic flow that is more rooted in global ethics in the future.

Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research explores in depth social and religious phenomena related to preaching patterns and their influence on people’s spiritual lives. A sociology of religion approach is used to analyze the factors that influence the effectiveness of the Tablighi Jamaah’s da’wah in this region. Research data was collected through observation techniques and in-depth interviews with members of the Tablighi Jamaah, religious leaders and the local community. The research results show that the Tablighi Jamaah applies a unique da’wah approach, namely through the method of home visits (khuruj), religious discussions, and direct interactions in daily life. This approach has succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of practicing worship consistently and building a closer relationship with Allah. Apart from that, the Tablighi Jamaah’s preaching emphasizes real examples and the simplicity of living in accordance with Islamic teachings. The positive impact of this method can be seen in significant changes in the mindset and behavior of people who are more religious. However, this research also found challenges in implementing the Tablighi Jamaah’s da’wah, including negative assumptions from some communities, weak internal support in amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, as well as economic and geographical obstacles that influence the success of da’wah. However, the Tablighi Jamaah’s personal approach and consistency in preaching succeeded in overcoming most of these obstacles.

In addition, this activity contains values of togetherness and solidarity, which are demonstrated in the reading of the Qur’an alternately by several people and in the provision of alms for participants. Overall, the tradition of reciting the Qur’an at graves In Tanjung Medan Village not only functions as a tribute to the dead but also as a means of conveying Islamic values in a way that is simple and easily accepted by the community

Abstract

Indonesia is unique because of its pluralistic and diverse character. This uniqueness can certainly produce conflict between communities if not managed well. One cause of this is radicalism and intolerance. Moreover, there has been an increase in the number of digital media users in Indonesia, which has the potential to become an arena for contesting various ideologies, including extreme ones. Therefore, a country with religious and cultural diversity requires a religious moderation approach to overcome radicalism and intolerance. This study aims to provide an overview of the role of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama in promoting religious moderation on social media. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with descriptive analysis that uses secondary data from various scientific literature sources such as journals, books, official reports, and social media content. Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama were chosen because they are the most prominent Islamic organisations in Indonesia and significantly influence religious life. Content analysis was used in this study. This research shows that religious organisations such as Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama play an important role in efforts to ground the religious moderation movement in Indonesia, especially in the context of digital media. Islam Berkemajuan and Islam Nusantara are views initiated by these two organizations to foster religious moderation in society. These two organisations use digital platforms to spread religious messages that emphasise tolerance, harmony, and respect for diversity. The implication of this research is that the presence of Muhammadiyah and NU on social media is strategic in shaping public opinion and expanding the understanding of religion. By using digital media, these two organisations are disseminators of moderate religious teachings and agents of social change that can reduce extremism
