Abstract

Abstract The path finding, called the Tree Building, is the main foundation on traffic assignment model. In conventional method, each iteration in route finding process can produce best path or shortest-path. On the contrary, on fuzzy travel cost condition, that process could produce several paths as shortest-path nominations. This paper discussed the route finding using fuzzy travel cost approach. In conventional method, travel cost, as an input in the model, is expressed in deterministic form, while in fuzzy cost, travel cost is represented as range of certain value from under-bound to upper-bound. Path finding process in fuzzy cost was developed based on Dijkstra (1959) algorithm which placed each selected route in certain layers. Layer with selected route is sequenced from “first” best route. This algorithm is named as Dijkstra Multi Layer (DML) Algorithm. At the end, flow assignment has done with calculating fuzzy membership value in each selected route toward to the best route.   Keywords: fuzzy route cost, shortest path, layer, Dijkstra Algorithm

Abstract

Abstract The need for mass transportation urges the government of Jakarta to build a monorail system. Monorail will increase the capacity of  public transportation system and give a new color to the urban transportation services. Users will have an additional mode choice and then make their preferences. User’s behaviour when choosing mode can be modeled using Stated Preference data. By using Stated Preference, monorail can be compared objectively to existing modes, namely private car, AC bus, non-AC bus, and busway using specific service attributes. Attributes used in this study are journey time, fare, frequency of departure, delay, and walking time to station. Stated Preference data were obtained from a survey to prospective passengers in the service area of the Green Line monorail corridor. Binary logit models were employed to model mode choices and the utility function was in a linear form. Calibration was done by multiple linear regression. Four mode choice models were then obtained, namely monorail versus private car model, monorail versus AC bus model, monorail versus non-AC bus model and monorail versus busway model. Keywords:  monorail, mode choice, service attribute, Stated Preference (SP)

Abstract

Abstract The pleasurable of driving on roads with high level of safety is expected by all road users in developed and developing countries. Communities who live in big cities near to road crossings definitely do not expect noise that which could disturb their daily lives. In this paper, several research findings will be presented related to double layer porous asphalt, in laboratory as well as its application, in some developed countries. It is shown that the use of finer upper layer with less thickness could function as noise reducer. In addition, the double layer porous asphalt has the level of noise very much lower than those of other conventional asphalts. However, the porous asphalt needs maintenance to prevent its void from clogging of debris and other small materials. Another factor that could reduce its service life is the influence of over-loaded vehicles which causes the voids become smaller. Keywords: Double layer porous asphalt, environment, noise, voids and permeability.

Abstract

Abstract Metro is one of the cities in Lampung Province, Indonesia. It is located between Eastern Lampung and Central Lampung Districs and becomes a junction of two regional highway, i.e. Central Sumatera Highway and Sumatera Eastern Coast Highway. This position produces high traffic flow on route assignment in Metro City. This study aims to observe the impact of trough on road network performance in Metro City. TRANPLAN  is used to model the performance of the network and the result is be compared with the field condition. The results indicate that the potency of daily trough traffic load in Metro City is about 24,99%  from the whole interzones movement. The research also indicate that there is no problem with the performance of traffic network in Metro City for time being (with error margin less than 20%). The problem of traffic jamp is predicted happens in 2013 where V/C ratio of several main roads in Metro City are more than 0,8. Trought traffic load contributes about 21% of V/C ratio of traffic network in Metro City. Keywords: trought traffic, OD matrix, route assignment, V/C ratio

Abstract

Abstract Sea transportation sector comes to be one golden bridge for Indonesia to increase the economy activity. In this context, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province is one of the strategic provinces, which acts as a gate to enter in western part of Indonesia. Being surrounded by sea, a harbor and sea transportation in NAD is a must. One of the most important harbour in NAD province is Krueng Geukueh Harbour. NAD has very strategic position, between Malaysia and Singapore, and potential conditions, e.g. closely related with central business district, the existence of abundance natural resources, and the availability of airport. The purpose of this study is to improve the performance of Krueng Geukueh Harbour. An improvement efforts suggested include, improving unity of intermodal and multimodal in this harbour, increasing harbour’s capacity of facilities, increasing shipping safety, improving human resources quality and technology usage, and offering opportunities for investor. Keywords: harbor’s performance, intermodal transportation, multimodal transportation.

Abstract

Abstract The islands located in an area of about 160.000 sq km in southern part of Sulawesi,  consist of 5 regencies. There are 5 big islands (more than 150 sq km each)  in this area. The economic level of these islands is still low and, therefor,  can not afford the commercial transportation tariff. Since 1974 the government of Indonesia has provided so called pioneer shipping (subsidized financially by government) in order to improve accessibility of these islands. So far, the economic level of population of these islands has not much improved. The pioneer ships are general cargo type (coaster), with long distance trips (average 1.660 sea mile) and take about 18 days for a round trip. The determination of shipping routes for servicing less developed islands are made without any deep analysis. This paper began with analysis of selecting ports in order to improve routes of the pioneer ships. To determiny an optimum sea transportation services into the area, the shipping should be classified in regional pioneer routes (main regional feeder), secondary regional feeder, and people shipping. This study found out that the total 22 ports in the area can be divided to 3 categories (hierarchy), 2 regional ports, 7 regional main ports, and 8 secondary regional feeder ports, and 5 people shipping ports.  Keywords: port hierarchy, pioneer shipping, remote islands.

Abstract

Abstract This paper describes the implementation of road safety strategy that was experienced in many developed countries, whereby the sustainable road transport issues were included. Such strategy can hardly be found in Indonesia, the country that facing with serious problem in road accidents. Road safety action plans, those carried out to mitigate road accidents in some countries, were presented. In addition the paper also suggested the actions have to be taken to make better road accidents situation in Indonesia. Keywords: road safety strategy, road accidents, action plans

Abstract

Abstract The use of cars by students, as a primary mode for commuting to and from school, has profound effects on school parking requirements and traffic congestion at the peak hour, especially if the school is located inside the residential area, such as Jemur Andayani, This paper aims to recognize the effect of the implementation of various potentials local area traffic management in reducing traffic congestion in Jemur Andayani residential area. The Trafik Plan to analyze eight potentials of local area traffic management. Schemes presents two alternative solutions to alleviate traffic congestion, consisting of opening which are open the access of the new bridge to reduce trip distance (alternative 4) and implementing several traffic lights to control traffic movement at the major intersections (alternative 8). Keywords: local area traffic management, trafikplan.
