Abstract

Ojek (motorcycle paratransit) is one form of paratransit in Indonesia, using a motorcycle rented by a person and gives the person a lift. By evaluating the feasibility of ojek services, the sustainability of ojek as a mode of transportation in a rural area can be determined. This research was conducted on ojek services in Wonogiri, Central Java Province. The results indicate that the investment of ojek services for rural areas is feasible to be implemented because it meets the feasibility criteria used in the analysis. The prospect of the existence of ojek in the rural areas in the future is also quite good and is expected to take place for long time, especially in areas with limited formal employment, relatively low education level of job seekers, and low-wage workers. Keywords: paratransit, ojek, rural transportation, feasibility analysis.

Abstract

Abstract The transportation production cost (TPC) considerably has strong influence to the national economic condition. This paper focused on the analysis of the transportation production cost sensitivity in relation to the variation of the external affecting factor, which are fuel price, rupiah exchange rate and Bank of Indonesia interest rate. Based on the R2 values, the TPC components in general have significant correlation, with the fuel prices. However, they do not have high correlation to the fluctuation of interest rate and rupiah exchange rate. The sensitivity analysis shows that a 10% rise on fuel price would cause 6%, 2%, 7%, 2.4%, and 4.9% rise on the TPC of intercity bus, ferry ship, interisland ship, train, and airline, respectively. Keywords: sensitivity analysis, transportation production cost, external affecting factor.

Abstract

Abstract The selection methods for pavement handling in Indonesia are often less precise. Handling of road damage with an overlay calculated based on the effective modulus of pavement is often chosen as a quick solution. However the road handling related to the structural damage cannot be done only with the overlay because pavement structural repairs are needed and, if this is not done, the pavement damaged will occur quickly. This study was conducted on the road segment Number 017.11 (K), Jalan Bypass, in Demak, to identify the type of damage, severity, and quantity of damage. The results were then analyzed using the PCI method for determining the repair option costs. Then a cost comparison was performed on the overlay cost based on the pavement effective modulus using the AASHTO (1993) method with the overlay cost based on the Bina Marga (2005) method. The results can be taken into consideration in determining the road maintenance program so that the handling of road damage becomes more precise and optimal. Keywords: road pavement, road damage, pavement effective modulus, overlay Abstrak Pemilihan metode penanganan kerusakan perkerasan jalan di Indonesia sering kurang tepat. Kata-kata kunci: perkerasan jalan, kerusakan jalan, modulus efektif perkerasan, pelapisan ulang

Abstract

A post-crash two-step analysis was performed on a fatal road accident involving a single-occupant pick-up truck that hit a concrete barrier in an almost perpendicular (frontal) direction. Firstly, the crash event was reconstructed to estimate the value of related parameters, such as collision speed, angle, speed of separation, and collision impulse time. Subsequently, models were developed to study the involved injury mechanismemphasizing on simulating the effects of using seatbelt to the occupant’s body during the collision. Accident reconstruction was carried out using VistaFX3 package software, while MADYMO package software was used in the study of injury mechanism. The results show that the acceleration rate suffered by occupant’shead and thorax (chest) could have been significantly reduced if the seatbelt were used properly. Keywords: traffic accident, safety belt, vehicle speed.

Abstract

Kata-kata kunci: simpang tak bersinyal, tak sebidang, volume, kapasitas, derajat kejenuhan

Abstract

Abstract A rapid increase of motorcycle ownership in the last twenty years made a decline to the road safety. This condition led Jakarta government to announce a policy for motorcycles to ride on leftmost lane on the road effectively by January 2007. Therefore, this paper analyzes the obedient of motorcyclist to the policy after about 4 months officially announced in various traffic conditions. This paper analysis is based on the 24 hours observation on both directions of Letjen. S. Parman Arterial Road using video recorder. First of all the distribution of motorcycles across the lanes are analyzed. Furthermore, the percentages of motorcycle in the leftmost lane on different time periods and different V/Cs are compared using t-test. Additionally a Pearson correlation analysis is also conducted between the percentage of motorcycle in the leftmost lane and several other variables. The results shows about 46 percent of motorcyclists obey the policy. The analysis also shows that there are significant differences between the obedience of motorcyclists in the 10.00-16.00 observation periods and in the 22.00-06.00 observation period. Keywords : lane distribution, motorcycle, Jakarta

Abstract

Abstract Material constraints and increasing demand for road construction materials have resulted in high construction costs and road rehabilitation, so alternative materials are needed, such as recycled asphalt and potential waste utilization, such as steel slags. This study is a literature study, with the aim of evaluating and controlling the performance of asphalt mixtures using Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement and steel slag, as a substitute for aggregate. The Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement material generally has aging which causes an increase in stiffness during the structural life and reduced adhesion to asphalt. This can be prevented by steel slag material, which has a rough surface and texture, so as to prevent cracks due to internal friction of the mixture. The overall use of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement materials and steel slag can improve mixture performance and resistance to fatigue. Keywords: asphalt mixture, reclaimed asphalt pavement, steel slag, flexible pavement  Abstrak Keterbatasan material dan meningkatnya permintaan material konstruksi jalan menyebabkan tingginya biaya pembangunan maupun rehabilitas jalan, sehingga diperlukan material alternatif, seperti daur ulang aspal dan pemanfaatan potensi limbah, seperti slag baja. Kata-kata kunci: campuran beraspal, reclaimed pavement asphalt, slag baja, perkerasan lentur
