Abstract

This research is a classroom action research. The purpose of the study was to improve student writing skills of narrative text in elementary school V 110 grade Pekanbaru using animated movies. Data collection techniques are observations and writing tests. Data analysis is quantitative and qualitative. On the initial data the average value is 63.42, where there are no student’s who get grades in the highly skilled category, and 3 students get grades in the skilled category. In cycle I the average value increased to 75.79, where 1 student get grades in the highly skilled category and 27 students get grades in the skilled category and the percentage of research success was 73.68%. In cycle II The average value also increased to 82.23, where 6 students get grades in the highly skilled category and 31 students get grades in the skilled category with a percentage of research success was 97.37%. So it can be concluded that the use of animation movies as media can improve the writing narrative text skill students of grade V SDN 110 Pekanbaru

Abstract

Graphic organizer is a strategy that cordinates ideas and cooncepts into visual form. The purpose of this research was to determine the ability of students to analyze fairy tales using graphic organizer strategies.The research methd used is quasi experimental research.The ability of students to analyze fairy tales using graphic organizer can be proven from results of t-test with signifikan level of 5% ( 95% degrees of confidence) obtained t-counts (7.875) >t tables (2.080) and sig (0.019) < 0.05. The value of t-count > t-table or sig.< 0.05 shos that the ability to analyze fairytale stories of the two groups is significantly different. This is also supported differences in the average value of the posttest results of analyzing the students fairy tale in the experimental group anda the control group.the experimental group got an average value of 94.48, while the controol group obtained an average value of 62.30, so that it could be conluded that there was a significant influence on the use of a graphic organizerstrategy on the ability to analyze fairytale stories in grade IV SDN 37 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Low reading skills, preferably reading students, a family environment that has never accustomed to a culture of reading and the development of increasingly sophisticated technologies, such as cell phones, usually children prefer the main game on cellphones to read and increase motivation. The point must be instilled in you who are reading is one means to improve the quality of self because by reading someone will get a lot of information. the purpose of receiving support through this research is to describe the reading skills of grade IV students with scanning techniques in Pelita Jaya Elementary School. The place of research is Pelita Jaya Cluster Elementary School consisting of 8 schools with a total of 274 students and a sample of 163 students. This type of research uses quantitative descriptive research with test instruments. The results of this study were the ability to read by scanning techniques from 163 students who became a sample that received students who received very good categories for 31 people, 32 good categories, then only 19 people were categorized, and 81 people were categorized less than 81 people. support the number of classified as sufficient, with an average value of 55.92

Abstract

Reading plays a crucial role in everyday life because it enables individuals to access the information they need. Students do not acquire reading skills by chance or through inspiration, but through systematic instruction. Reading is not an innate activity; it is a set of skills learned gradually and eventually mastered to become automatic. However, reading problems remain evident in primary schools, particularly the low reading proficiency of students in upper grades. This study was conducted due to the limited reading ability of fifth-grade students at SDN 105 Pekanbaru. Two students were selected as research subjects because their reading skills were significantly lower than those of their peers. To explore this issue, the researcher examined the factors influencing the students’ reading ability. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using surveys and observations. Data collection was carried out through interviews and documentation as supporting evidence. The findings obtained from triangulation of observations and interviews indicate that the factors influencing the reading ability of fifth-grade students at SDN 105 Pekanbaru include intellectual factors and psychological factors.

Abstract

This study investigates the development of a moral-based cooperative learning model within the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum in elementary schools. The primary objective is to identify the validity level and feasibility of the model produced. Conducted as a research and development (R&D) study at SDN Kota Dumai, this project focuses on designing and refining a cooperative learning model grounded in moral principles to support curriculum implementation. Validation results show that the graphic design component obtained a score of 79.00, categorized as good; the linguistic aspect received a score of 78.00, also in the good category; and the content component earned a score of 83.00, likewise categorized as good. The implementation phase further demonstrated positive improvements. At SDN 002 Bagan Besar, the first trial resulted in a score of 78 (46.33%), which increased to 101 (59.83%) in the second trial and reached 134 (79.33%) in the third trial. Similarly, at SDN 004 Bagan, the first trial obtained a score of 61 (48.4%), rising to 80 (63.4%) in the second trial and increasing again to 91 (72%) in the third trial. These findings indicate that the moral-based cooperative learning model developed is both valid and reliable, and its use successfully enhances students’ interaction and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Students’ reading skill has a big influence for students in determining their success in learning process. Students who are able to read well and faster will achieve good learning outcomes. By knowing the importance of reading skills, school must be able to build students’ reading culture. This study aims to find out the principal's strategy in building the students’ reading culture. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach. This research located at SDN 131 / IV Jambi. The subjects of the research were the principal and the teacher. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques were reduction, display and verification. The results showed that the principal's strategy in building students’ reading culture were carried out with habituation, exemplar, cooperation, provision of facilities and infrastructure as well as a reading clinic. This study concluded that the principal's strategy in building students’ reading culture in the school were by forming a reading habit before starting learning process, being an exemplar by reading along with teachers and students, providing reading culture clinics for teachers and students and building cooperation with institutions such as Tanoto Foundation.

Abstract

This quantitative descriptive research aims at describing the character of responsibility of the fifth grade students at SDN 136 Pekanbaru. The research was conducted because the students were lack of awareness in responsibility both at school and at home. The population of this research was all of the fifth grade students at SDN 136 Pekanbaru with 136 students and the number of sample was 48 students which were chosen by using questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that the fifth grade students of SDN 136 Pekanbaru were responsible both at school and at home. It can bee seen from the results of the analysis of students doing homework by 74.48%, repeating lessons at home by 58.68%, helping parents at home with 66.87%, doing class picket assignments by 70.31%, doing group assignments together with groups by 68.75%, doing individual tasks by 70.31%, keeping the school clean by 69.44%, apologizing to friends when guilty by 61.20%. It can be concluded that the fifth grade students of SDN 136 Pekanbaru were responsible both at home and at school. Thus, the school and the teacher should be able to build the character of responsibility at school.

Abstract

Local scripts are the priceless cultural heritage of the nation. The existence of local scripts today is increasingly eroded by the use of Latin writing. A few young people are able to write local scripts. One of the forgotten local scripts is the Sasambo script in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This study aims to describe the learning interest of PGSD students on local scripts. This research was designed in a quantitative descriptive form. The data was collected through surveys. The instrument used were a closed questionnaire and interview guidelines. Data analysis used descriptive statistics. The subject of research was PGSD students of University of Mataram. The results showed that PGSD students' interest in learning about local scripts was very low. The indicators showed that few students have ever learned local scripts, the number of students interested in learning local scripts was small, the number of students who were willing to read literature was small, the number of students who had interested on local scripts was small, the use of local scripts was also small and the assumption that local scripts were not important to learn. The reason for the lack of interest in learning about local scripts was because local scripts were difficult to learn and were not needed anymore in practical life. Based on the findings, it needs various efforts to increase student interest in learning local scripts Sasambo through learning innovation. By learning local scripts, it is expected that the preservation of local scripts will be maintained.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study that reveals the implementation of humanistic mathematics lectures to the students from the Frontier (Terdepan), Remote (Terpencil) and Backward (Tertinggal) Areas (3T). The data were analyzed with qualitative data analysis techniques. This study aims to describe a model of humanistic mathematics lecture, explain the humanistic mathematics lectures, and explain the role of lecturers in humanistic mathematics lectures. The research subjects were students from the 3T area. 3T students are students from the most outermost regions in the territory of Indonesia. Mappi, Manokwari-Sorong, Timika, Asmat, and Mentawari Regencies. The results of the study stated that the humanistic mathematics learning model was using the PMRI approach. Steps of humanistic mathematics lectures: (1) introduction of the lectures, (2) understanding the material in groups, (3) groups interaction, (4) sharing opinions, (5) using the context in accordance with 3T students, (6) the freedom in searching for information, (7) students construct their own knowledge, (8) creating SANI : polite (santun), open (terbuka) and communicative (komunikatif) in lecturing, and (9) students were facilitated by positive, cooperative and open activities. The role of lecturers in humanistic mathematics lectures was as a facilitator and mediator.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the students’ higher order thinking skills based on the concept of cognitive domain thinking in the revised version of Bloom's taxonomy on the science with ecosystem themes at elementary schools. This study used descriptive research with qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were the fifth grade students at SDN Kepatihan 06 Jember, SDN Sumbersari 03 Jember, and SDN kebonsari 04 Jember. The data were collected through tests and interviews. The results of this research were the students’ higher order thinking skills in the elementary schools had various categories, namely low, medium and high categories. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students’ higher order thinking skills on the science with ecosystem theme at elementary schools were low category with 86.08%, medium category with 12.66%, and high category with 1.26%. The low level of thinking ability was influenced by the level of understanding of the concepts in the ecosystem material that led students to have problem in understanding it.
