Abstract

The development of science is a complex process of individual creativity. Because of that science should not be described or regulated by any form of regulation or legal system. To resist attempts to curb the science in formal and rigid forms, Paul Feyerabend offers two things, namely that replicates the principles and the principle of anything goes. The principle of the development means, we do not work in a system of thought life forms and the single institutional framework. Instead, we should put pluralism as a theory and methodology, systems of thought and forms of life within the institutional framework. And the principle of freedom anything goes (anything goes), means freeing all forms of a trip is, without much bound by a system. Feyerabend thought it quite well practiced in religious studies because they could create an understanding that is not stuck to the approach dogmatic and ideological. The plurality of approaches when assessing religions is richness to create a wide variety of religious studies approaches.

Abstract

Existentialism philosophy of looking at things based on the existence or how humans are in the world . Etymologically derived from the word existentialism copies, meaning outside, andand a meaningful existence stand or place , so widespread existence can be interpreted as a stand alone as himself as well as out of him .In general meaning , humans in existence it was aware that he was there and everything is determined by the existence he admits. Islam is not a religion of one-dimensional. Nor is religion based solely on human institutions and limited to the relationship between man and God. Up to understand it is not enough just to a single method .Rather it requires human freedom in view of other methods. Departing from these freedoms least epistemology format Islamic studies as a form of independence awoke thinking.Because, for freedom of thought is a study which occupies an important position . Islam in this case have a clear concept , universal and tested . Islam's relationship with the independence of thinking.

Abstract

The dissent among the internal and external of religious communities essentially not because the divergence of religious concept. It appears because different methodology and logical thinking among the intellectuals that influence the people in vast dimensions. The differences of logical thingking will impact the different product of thought and religious activities. Among others is the different of normativity and historicity methods and logical thinking. Throughout the course of history, both logic collide each other. So the effort to integrate this both logic absolutely necessary for the advancement of development of religious studies in the future

Abstract

This article talks on interpretation methodologhy of tarti>b nuzu>li used by al-Jabiri for understanding al-Qur’an. Al-Jabiri offers new interpretation methodology, tarti>b nuzu>li , for criticizing, completing, and developing previous interpretations which are considered having political, ideoligical motivation, and many importances; and unable to answer many developing modern problems. There are two steps done; He reconstructs definition of al-Qur’an by self referencial and constructs sistematicly methodologycal of al-Qur’an interpretation. They are fas}l al-maqru>’ ‘an al-Qa>ri’ and was}l al-qa>ri’ bi al-maqru>’ whose purposes make al-Qur’an modern for its self (mu’a>s}ra>n li nafsihi> ) and modern for us (mu’a>s}ira>n lana> ). So, the jargon of “s}a>lih} li kulli zama>n wa al-maka>n” can be really applicated without forgetting the authentication of al-Qur’an.

Abstract

Understanding the hadith is the most important step after examing its authenticity. The aim of this paper is to explain the development history of ma’ani> al-h}adi>s\ and to analyze the comtemporary methods from five thinkers namely: Fazlur Rahman, Yusuf Qardhawi, Muhammad al-Ghazali, Syuhudi Ismail and Khaled M. Abou El Fadl. This concludes that the prosess of understanding hadis (ma’ani> al-h}adi>s\) has been developed by many Islamic scholars from classical era to contemporary era. Analyzing the ways of ma’a>ni al-h}adi>s\of five thinkers above, are able to be classified into three steps; analyzing the text, historical context (micro and macro-asba>b al-wuru>d), and applying in reader’s context.

Abstract

Tantangan teologis paling besar dalam kehidupan beragama sekarang ini yang dihadapi orang-orang beriman di tengah kenyataan pluralisme agama dewasa ini adalah bagaimana suatu teologi dari suatu agama mendefinisikan dirinya di tengah agama-agama lain. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa, pada umumnya kaum beriman berpikir dengan double standars (standar ganda); agama kita adalah yang paling sejati dan berasal dari Tuhan, sedangkan agama lain hanya konstruksi manusia, atau mungkin juga berasal dari Tuhan tetapi dipalsukan oleh manusia. Sejarah mencatat bagaimana standar ganda ini telah melahirkan suasana saling curiga di antara umat manusia atas nama Tuhan. Agama tampaknya selalu hadir dalam wajah ganda, ambivalensi yang sulit diurai dan dimengerti lebih-lebih bila penganutnya menempatkan diri sebagai aktor dalam setiap konflik yang terjadi.
