Abstract

The Kampar River received pollutants originated from anthropogenic activities along the river and thus negatively affect the water quality in general. To understand the water quality of the river based on periphyton community structure and WQI-NSF Index, a research was conducted from January to March 2017. There were five (5) sampling points. Water samples were taken 3 times/ week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, turbidity, transparency, current speed, total suspended solid, depth, pH, DO, BOD5, nitrate, phosphate and types of periphyton present. Results shown that there were 5 classes of periphyton present, namely Cyanophyceae (8 species), Chlorophyceae (16 species), Bacillarophyceae (18 species), Xantophyceae (2 species) and Euglenophyceae (2 species). Water quality parameters are as follows : Temperature 30.3-310C, turbidity 8.1-11.22 FTU, transparency 61.25-79 cm, current speed 25-36 cm/s, TSS 10.3–16.17 mg/L, TDS 11.17– 16.75 mg/L, depth 17-138 cm, pH 5–5.17, dissolved oxygen 5.47– 6.23 mg/L, BOD5 2.59–3.38 mg/L, nitrate 0.0822-0.1803 mg/L and phosphate 0.4352-0.4823 mg/L. The value of the WQI-NSF index was 62-66, indicates that the river is on moderate condition.Keywords : Kampar River, Water Quality, WQI-NSF, Periphyton

Abstract

ABSTRACT               This research was conducted in May 2017 at Berakit Village, Teluk Sebong Sub-district, Bintan Regency, Kepulauan Riau Province. The purpose of this study was to identify social warannty forms, to describe social security mechanisms, and to know the effect of social warranty on behavioral changes of the Suku Laut community.This research method is qualitative method, informant determined with snowball sampling, and data were analyzed using descriptive analysis.              The results show that the existing forms of social warannty in the Suku Laut Community are the guarantee of education, health insurance, food clothing, housing security, and job and business warannty.The mechanism for obtaining social warranty in the Suku Laut Community is formal and informal.With the social warannty obtained by the Suku Laut Community, there will be behavioral changes such as residential change, economy, attitude / behavior, spiritual change/ belief and lifestyle changes both transportation and communication in the community. Keywords: social warranty, behavior change, Suku Laut, Bintan(1) Students in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine University of Riau(2) Lecturer in Faculty of Fisheries and Marine University of Riau

Abstract

This research was conducted in April 2016 at the Strait of Bengkalis, Riau Province. The aim of research is to determine the pattern salinity and temperature distribution at ebb tide and flood tide. Research used survey method. Tide data obtained were presented in the form of chat the map and discussed descriptively. Based on the research it showed that average salinity at flood tide 23.56‰ and ebb tide 22.90 ‰. The average of salinity at ebb tide was lower than flood tide. In contrast to the temperature, the temperature measurement at flood tide lower than ebb tide and the average value at flood tide 31,18ºC and ebb tide was 31,53ºC. The results showed that distribution of salinity and temperature during flood tide and ebb tide is fluctuated. The pattern of distribution of salinity, temperature and other environmental parameters (pH, transparency, current velocity and depth) were different betwen the flood tide and ebb tide.Keywords: Salinity, Temperature, Distribution Pattern, Bengkalis Strait

Abstract

This Study was conducted in February 2017,located in The Teratak Buluh village subdistrict Siak Hulu District Kampar Riau Province, The purpose of this study was determine the people perception of fish Farming in cages and determine the people perception of fish farming in cages and determine the people perception of enchancement in come of fish farming in cages.Methods used in research is survey method. The determination of the respondents was connducted by census of 17 people. Analysis of the data used are descriptive analysis.The results of the study explained that the perception of the community on the waters in the Teratak Buluh village that the potential of village waters in good condition for business development. Based on the analysis of the 60% of people assessed well that the potential of waater in The Teratak Buluh village for the development of aquaqulture business. People’s perception on fish cultivation in cages 60% have good/positive perception.Based on the perception,the potential of waters in the village of Teratak Buluh supports the development of fish cultivation business in cages.Keywords:Perception,The people,Teratak Buluh

Abstract

ABSTRACTKampar Kanan River has strong current and rocky substrate and it may affect the type and abundance of phytoplankton and ephylitic periphyton. To understand the type and abundance those organisms, a study has been conducted in February to March 2017. Parameter measured were types and abundance the phytoplankton and ephylitic periphyton, temperature, brightness, current, depth, pH, DO, free CO2, nitrate and phosphate.Samplings were conducted 3 times, once/ week, in 3 stations.Results shown that there were 38 phytoplankton species present, namely Bacillariophyceae (16 species), Chloropyhceae (14 species) , Cyanophyceae (4 species) ,Euglenophyceae (2 species), Chrysophyceae and Dinophyceae (1 species).  The average of phytoplankton abundance was around 2,023to 2,252  cells/L. the H’ was 4.465to 4.624; C was 0.071to 0.115  and E was 0.765to 0.840. Results shown that there were 45 the ephylitic periphyton species present, namely Bacillariophyceae (23species), Chlorophyceae (18species), Cyanophyceae (3species), andXantophyceae (1 species). The average the ephylitic periphyton abundance was 5,322to 8,479  cells/ cm2. The H’ was 3.725to 4.469; C was 0.071to 0.115  and E was 0.765 to 0.840. Based on the abundance of phytoplankton and ephylitic periphyton, the Kampar River in the Air Tiris Village is classified as moderate fertility rate.Keywords: Phytoplankton, ephylitic periphyton, Air Tiris Village Kampar River, Water Quality

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Chlorella sp flour fortification on the quality of cookies added with head snake (Channa striata) fish protein concentrate with organoleptic, chemical and microbiological and to find out how many fortified Chlorella sp best in Fish Of Channa Striata protein concentrate. The method used was an experimental method and design as completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment fortification flavour Chlorella sp with consist four taraf, the taraf is C1 (Chlorella sp without flavour), C2 (2 gram Chlorella sp fortification flavour), C3 (4 gram Chlorella sp fortification flavour), C4 (6 gram Chlorella sp fortification flavour). The parameter test of the reseach is organolephtic, proximat, and coloni bacteria total.The result of the reseach is 2 gram Chlorella sp fortification flavour showed the best of the treatment, with the characteristic is green, intact and tidy (8.1), aroma slightly smelly chlorella sp (7.9), flavor tasty, savory and a little taste of chlorella sp (7.8), hollow textures and less crunchy (8.5). It contained of water 3.60%, protein 28.52%, fat 21,60%, ash 1.30% and total bacteria 3.1 x 103 Cfu / g).Keyword: Channa striata, Chlorella sp., cookies, Fish Protein Concentrate

Abstract

Mangrove is a tree that normally grows in the intertidal zone of marine coastal environments. This study aims to estimate the carbon content of mangrove forest ecosystems within a certain area, to analyze biomass differences, carbon stocks and CO2 uptake and to analyze the effect of mangrove density on biomass, carbon stock and CO2 uptake. This research held on February 2017 by survey method and used the data of mangrove species, it’s number and diameter of breast height (DBH) on each sub plot. Measurement of mangrove biomass was done allometric equation method. The result of carbon stock and CO2 uptake in mangrove indecates that Station III was higher than Station I and II. The average yield of mangrove carbon stock and CO2 uptake is 1333,99 ton / ha and 4891.30 ton / ha. For the highest soil organic carbon is found in Station 1 with an average soil organic carbon of 1446.75 tons / ha. The density of mangrove biomass, carbon content and CO2 uptake which has a strong relationship. The content of biomass, mangrove carbon and CO2 uptake were significantly different (p <0.05) between stations. Keywords: Mangrove, Carbon, Jorong Ujuang Labuang

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aim to determine the optimal dose of additional herbal supplements in feed toward the growth performance and survival rate of red tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) by using biofloc system on peat swamp water. This research was conducted on January 30-March 10, 2018 at Technical Service Unit (UPT) of Hatchery, Marine and Fisheries Faculty, University of Riau. This research was using experimental method by completely random design (RAL) one factor with three replications. The treatments were: A: 0 mL/kg of feed (control), B: 25 mL/kg of feed, C: 50 mL/kg of feed, and D: 75 mL/kg of feed. The herbal supplements were consisted of turmeric, kencur, temulawak and ginger with Bacillus sp. and yeast (Rhizopus oligosporus). The results showed that a different doses of additional herbal supplements affecting the growth performance and the survival rate of red tilapia usingbiofloc system on peat swamp water. In addition, it also affected the absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, feed efficiency and feed conversion ratio.The optimal dose was at 25 mL/kg of feed as it showed significantly different results compared to control and was not differ significantly at higher doses. So that while being applied in terms of economy, 25 mL/kg  was the most efficient dose, by giving the specific growth rate was 2,33%, survival rate was 80%, absolute weight growth was 3,12 g, absolute length was 2,71 cm, feed efficiency was 89,66% and feed conversion ratio was 1,12.                                                                                      Keyword : herbal supplements, red tilapia, biofloc, peat

Abstract

This research was conducted in July 2016, it was conducted in the Kelurahan of Belawan Bahari Medan city. This study aimed to analyze the production of Salted Fish Gulamah in Kelurahan Belawan Bahari starting from production inputs, production process, product of dried fish Gulamah, and analyze the distribution of salted fish Gulamah in District Belawan Bahari. The method used in this research is survey method and determine the respondents using the method applied bassed on population (Arikunto 2006).Based on the research results, for the production of salted fish Gulamah input using Gulamah fresh fish, the process includes several stages and the product is a salted fish Gulamah. Gulamah salted fish production in Kelurahan Belawan Bahari by 27 business units with an average production of salted fish once a production of 3 tons, with an average per month is 68.6 tons. Distribution of salted fishGulamah markets include in area Medan and some areas the city of Medan, Dairi, Deli Serdang, Labuhan Batu, Tapanuli Selatan, Tapanuli Tengah, Serdang Bedagai and Rantau Parapat with the distribution percentage of 40% over the market in the city of Medan and 60% outside the Medan market.Keywords: Production, Distribution, Gulamah Salted Fish, Kelurahan Belawan Bahari

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of an additiond different amounts of carrageen to the quality of lomek fish meatballs. The method used was an experiment, with Completely Randomized Design (RAL) word one factor as treatment: B0 treatment: B0 (without carrageen), B1 (carrageen as amount 12.5 g), B2 (carrageen as amount 25 g) and B3 (carrageen as amount 37.5 g). Parameters tested were organoleptic and chemical. The results showed that the best treatment for the quality of lomek fish meatballs is B2 with the amount of carrageen 25 gram, with a creamy white form, compact texture and chewy, the smell of lomek fish meat is lost, and the fish taste is decreasing with the water content value 69, 46, protein 16.16%, fat 8.36%Keywords: Fish lomek, meatballs, number of carrageen
