Abstract

 ABSTRACT This Research  was conducted in Mei 2017 in the Beach Cermin, Perbaungan Sub-District, Serdang Bedagai District, North Sumatera Province. The method used in this research is survey method. The purpose of this research is to knowing the tourism activies to the coastal community economy and to know the impact of tourism activities to the coastal community social. Based on the results of research that has been conducted on the existing activities in Beach Cermin is the presence of toilet guards. For the activities in the economy is the coastal community mirrors provide leasing of facilities on the beach, such as game rental, swimming tire rental, and tent rental for a place to relax, and for activities in the existing social Beach Mirror is the appearance of art every Saturday.Keywords: impact, tourism, Serdang Bedagai district

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in November 2017 aimed to analyze the heavy metal concentrations in sediment and surface sea water and the relationship between them as well as to know the level of metal pollution in Kundur Island Coastal Waters, Riau Islands Province. The highest concentration of Cr in sea water was found at Station 3 (0.0598 mg/l), while in sediment was at Station 2 (30,1533 μg/g). The highest concentration of Cu in seawater was found at Station 1 (0.0296 mg/l), while in sediment was at Station 3 (1.7967μg/g). The highest concentration of Zn in seawater was found at Station 2 (0.0904 mg/l) whereas in sediment was at Station 2 (39,5050 μg/g). Simple linear regression analysis for Cr indicated that  when Crconcentration in sea water increases, itsconcentrations in sediments also increases. On the contrary, when Cu and Zn concentration in water increases, their concentrations in sediments decreases and vice versa. The concentrations of Cr, Cu and Zn in seawater have exceeded the threshold value, while in the sediments their concentrations were considered as having nonegative effect to the existing organisms in these waters. Keywords: Heavy Metal, Pollution, Kundur Island, Water, Sediment

Abstract

ABSTRACT Carrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life organism in that area. A study aimed to assess the aquatic carrying capacity based on chlorophyll-a for extensive fishing was conducted in the Tajwid Lake. The carrying capacity was determined based on primary productivity (chlorophyll-a content), which is indicating the existence of phytoplankton in the water. This research was conducted in March-April 2018 in the Tajwid Lake. There were 3 stations, namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (in the middle of lake) and Station 3 (outlet area).  Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate, phosphate, and chlorophyll-a concentration. The concentration of chlorophyll-a indicates that the carrying capacity of the Tajwid lake for extensive fishing was 6.925 tons/year. Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency 47.0-54.7 cm, temperature 29.3-30.7oC, pH 5, dissolved oxygen  4.75-6.29 mg/L, CO2 17.32-22.64 mg/L, nitrate 0.0541-0.0820 mg/L, phosphate 0.1327-0.2798 mg/L, and concentration of chlorophyll-a  was 7.96 µg/L.

Abstract

                                                 AbtractThis study aims to analyze the Perceptions of Fishermen Society Against Insurance Assistance Program for Fishermen (IAPF) Panai Hilir Subdistrict Labuhanbatu District of North Sumatra Province. Population in this research is fisherman society which follow program of Insurance assistance Premium for Fisherman (IAPF) in District of Panai Hilir Regency of Labuhanbatu of North Sumatera Province with 25 respondents. Data collection techniques used were questionnaires.The results of this study indicate that the mechanism of implementation of insurance for fishermen in Panai Hilir Subdistricthas been in accordance with applicable legislation and technical guidelines and can be groupedinto the socialization stage, followed by the submission of insurance participants and the stage of insurance benefit claims. The results of this study also indicate that the perception of the fishermen community against the insurance program has a pretty good value with a total score of 2.013 which means that insurance is important to ensure the activities of fishermen in doing business so that fishermen will get protection, comfort and security in work. Keywords: Insurance, Mechanism, Perception, Fisherman Society.

Abstract

 ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in January 2018 in Sei Nagalawan Village, Perbaungan Serdang Bedagai Regency of North Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study to determine the amount of employment opportunities and how much contribution of marine tourism-related business to the level of income household fishermen. The method used in this research is survey method. Retrieval of respondents using the technique proportional sampling of 19% of the total population. Analysis of the data used is qualitative and quantitative analysis.These results show indicate the magnitude of employment opportunities, especially in the informal businesses in the tourism sector can be seen from the 2017 Households increase in business is growing coastal fishing before totaling 17 business units with as many as 24 workers. Then after the beach is growing up to 42 units of businesses with employees 54 people. On average the fisheries industry accounted for 53.69% of total family income for one month. While the tourism industry and other businesses contributed an average of 36.66% and 9.65% of total household income for one month. Keywords: Employment , Contribution, Household, Fisherman

Abstract

 ABSTRACT Hampala macrolepidota is present in the Kampar Kiri River. A study aims to understand the reproductive biology ofH. macrolepidotahas been conducted from February to April 2018. Fish samplingswereconducted 4 times, one/ 2 weeks. Parameters measured were sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. Results shown that there were 42 males and10 females (sex ratio 4:1). Male has slimmer body, darker body color than those of the female. Size at maturity level in male ranged from 102-300 mm (SL) and 30-700 g BW,while that of the females was 173-330 mm (SL) and 150-990 g BW. The GSI of male ranged from0.04-2.75%, while that of the females was0.94-12.43%. The fecundity was 136.534 eggs/fish, and the egg diameter was 0.5-0.9 mm.Keywords: Sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index, fecundity

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in March 2018 with the aim to determine the concentration of Pb, Cu and Zn, and their relation to the size of snail (Cerithidea montagnei) and to determine the safe limits of snail consumption, and to estimate the level of metal pollution in the waters of Air Hitam Strait. Sampling locations were determined by using purposive sampling and was conducted in areas with relatively different anthropogenic activities. Heavy metal concentration analysis was performed at the Marine Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Riau. The results showed that the metal content of Pb at station 1 was 1,128 μg/g and in station 2 that was 1,000 μg/g, Cu at station 1 was 45,480 μg/g and in station 2 was 69,756 μg/g while Zn at station 1 was 115,556 μg/g and at station 2 is 152,836 μg/g. A simple linear regression analysis between the size and the metal concentration of Pb in the snail showed a strong relationship, while Cu and Zn concentration showed a moderate relationship. The safe limit of snail consumption in the waters of Air Hitam Strait for Pb metal is 6.6789 kg/week, Cu is 17.0086 kg/week and Zn is 14.6055 kg/week. The MPI value forAir Hitam Strait is 20.19, which illustrates that the waters of the Strait is in the state of relatively polluted. Keywords: Pollution, Heavy Metal, KepulauanMeranti Regency

Abstract

AbstracEcotourism is travel to a good natural environment that is natural as well as artificial as well as cultures which are informative and participative approach that aims to ensure the sustainability of natural and socio-cultural. This research was carried out in February-March 2018 in the waters of Pandang Island,Subdistrict Tanjung Tiram, North Sumatra Province. This research aims to identify potential marine ecotourism are owned and determine the development strategy of ecotourism in the region of Island marine point of view. The methods used in this study with survey method. Index value the suitability of Tourism at setian stations namely: 91.66% I Station, station II Station 62%, III 82.69%. Judgments about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, the development potential of the waters of the island of view assessed from the observations on site research, interviews and questionnaires.            Pandang island has the potential of marine ecotourism Standpoint with the appeal in the form of coastal ecotourism. Alternative management strategies that are appropriate for the development of marine ecotourism on the island's point of view, namely: 1) Involving the community in the supervision and management of marine ecotourism activities, supporting infrastructure Improvement 2) form of ecotourism transportation by utilizing local communities, 3) Memanfaatan the potential of natural resources, local hospitality and history to attract visitors through the concept of marine ecotourism as well as utilizing the existence of tourist attractions around the island Point of view.Kata Kunci: Potential, Ecotourism, SWOT Analysis, Pulau Pandang

Abstract

AbstractBelontia hasselti is a typeof freshwater fish that inhabit swamp waters.Information on biological, including morphometric, meristic, and growth patterns of the fish is rare. To understand the morphometrical andmeristicalcharacteristics, and growth patterns of the fish, a research had been conducted from February to March 2018. There were 100 fishes (70.08-130.05 mm TL and 7.44-40.02 gr BW). There were 26 morphological characteristics measured and 11 meristical characteristics counted. The meristical characteristics were as follows: D. XVI-XVII, 10-13 P.10-12,   V.I, 4-6 A. XV-XVII, 11-13). The number of scale in the pre-dorsal fin was 22-24, in the cheek was 4-6, around the body was 32-42,  in the caudal peduncle was 14-16, above lateral line was 4.5-6.5 and under lateral line was 11.5-13.5). There were 5 morphometrical characteristic differences between male and female B.hasselti.They wereheight of the head,  space from aye to the dorsal fin, space from ventral fin to the anal fin, the height of dorsal and the height of anal.The length-weight relationship shown that the growth of male and female was allometric negative.Keywords:freshwater fish, allometric, morphological characteristic, meristic characteristic

Abstract

Abstract The carrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organism in that area. A study aimed to assess the aquatic carrying capacity for extensive fishing in the Tanjung Putus Lake, Buluh China Village, Kampar District, Riau. The carrying capacity was determined based on primary productivity using chlorophyll-a value, which is indicating the existence of phosphate in waters.This research was conducted March, 2018.There were 3 stations namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (in the middle of lake) and station 3 (outlet area). In each stations, there were 2 sampling sites, in the surface and in the middle of water column. Sampling was done three times, once a week. Water quality parameters measured weretransparency, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphate and nitrate concentration. Results shown that chlorophyll-a: 6.98-7.52 µg/L, transparency: 85.17-96.5 cm, temperature: 30.2-31.8 oC, pH: 5, dissolved oxygen: 4.82-         6 mg/L, phosphate: 0.05-0.09 mg/L and nitrate: 0.05-0.06 mg/L. The concentration of chlorophyll-a indicates that the carrying capacity of the Tanjung Putus Lake for extensive fishing was 1,74 tons/year. Keyword: Oxbow lake, Extensive fishing, Phytoplankton, Water quality
