Abstract

ABSTRACKPuntioplites buluis a freshwater fish that inhabit the Koto Panjang Reservoir. A study aims to understand the stomach content of P.buluhas been conducted from January to March 2019. The fish was sampled 6 times,  once/ 2 weeks. There were 65 fishes captured, but 3 fishes were discharged as they had empty stomach. Stomach content was analyzedusing a volumetric method and then the Preponderance Index (IP)was calculated. Resultsshown that the main food of the fish is Crustacea 39,38460%.Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that the food of P.buluwas various.  Keywords : fish diet, Indeks of Preponderance, gut content, volumetric method

Abstract

 ABSTRACT             This research was conducted in June-August 2019 at the coast of the Laguna Samudra, Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province. The research aim to find out the potential of marine ecotourism and the development strategy at the coast of Laguna Samudra.This research uses a survey method.Resultsshown thatthe coast of Laguna Samudrahas suitable potential to be developed as a marine ecotourism area. The results of calculations on the value of land suitability index for recreational marine tourism category are 85.2%. Indicates that their value wasthe coastal of Laguna Samudra is very suitable to be uses a marine ecotourism destination. The SWOT analysis shows us a several alternative management strategies that are appropriate for the development of marine ecotourism on the coast of Laguna Samudra. The strategies uses include the Strategy Strength-Opportunity, namely make a general management plan (General Management Plan), improvement of local community development on ecotourism. Weakness-Opportunity Strategy, namely increased promotion in various social media,improve coordination between policy makers and managers, and improve the quality of human resources (HR). Keyword: Potential, Marine Ecotourism, SWOT analysis, Laguna Samudra Beach

Abstract

ABSTRACT             In the Riau University area there are several shallow waters. Activities conducted   around the waters may contribute the input of organic and inorganic pollutant into the waters. The pollutant may increase the fertility of the water and it is reflected in the concentration of chlorophyll-a content in the water. A research aims to determine the aquatic productivity based on chlorophyll-a concentration, has been carried out in March-April 2018.  Sampling was carried out in three stations, namely stations 1 (around the LPPM   building), station 2 (in the front of the   Rectorate building), and station 3 (in the Fisheries Faculty reservoir). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, DO, CO2, nitrate and phosphateconcentration. Samplings were conducted three times, once/week. Results shown that the chlorophyll-a concentration ranged from 4.04-5.12µg/L, temperature 30-310C, transparency 34-84 cm, depth 116-209 cm, DO 4.96-5.64 mg/L, CO2 14.64-17.31 mg/L, Nitrate 0.05-0.06 mg/L, phosphate 0.07-0.19 mg/L, and pH 6. Based on the chlorophyll-a concentration, the water of the waters in the Riau University area   can be categorized as mesotrophic. Keywords: mesotrophic, water quality,reservoir FPK, organic matter, aquatic productivity

Abstract

ABSTRACT This  research was conducted in April to June 2018 in the Dumai Sea Waters of Dumai City, Riau , Privince. The purpose of this study was to determine the level density of C. perfringens and heterotrophic bacteria, analyze the level of resistance of C. perfringens and heterotrophic bacteria to antibiotics. The method used in research is an experimental method. Biochemical and resistance test analyzes were performed at the marine Microbiology Laboratory of the Faculty of study, the calculation of the number of C. perfringens and heterotrophic bacteria from the five stations obtained from the waters shows that the number C. perfringens bacteria is lower if compared with the number of heterotrophic bacteria that are in the five stations. The highest density of C. perfringens bacteria at station 3 with  a value of 1,5 x 106 and the lowest station 4 with a value 2,1 x 105. The average results of testing of te antibiotic Chloramphenicol found that all bacterial isolates were sensitive, and in isoniazid antibiotic testing it was found that all bacterial isolates were resistant. Keywords : Density, Resistance test and C. perfringens and heterotrophic bacteria

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was aimed to determine the effect of natural dyes addition of catfish wet noodles on consumer acceptance, which was given coloring from beetroots, mustard greens, and carrots. The method used in this research was the experimental method of making catfish wet noodles with the addition of different natural dyes. A non-factorial Completely Randomized Design was used in this research with 4 types of treatment, namely (W0) without natural dyes, (W1) red color from beetroots, (W2) green color from mustard greens, and (W3) orange color from carrots. All treatments were repeated 3 times so that the number of experimental units was 12 units. The parameter measured in this study was the preference test. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the catfish wet noodles with the addition of natural dyes from mustard greens (green colour) most preferred by consumers acceptance with 71 panelists (88.7%). The addition of natural dyes in catfish wet noodles was significantly affected to appearance and odor, however, did not significantly affect to texture value and taste value. Based on the parameters tested, the results of organoleptic values of appearance (7.20) which criteria of bright green, odor(6.95) which criteria of mustard greens odor, texture (6.76)which criteria of thick, elastic and slightly sticky, and taste (6.49) which criteria of slightly mustard greens taste. Keywords: Catfish, wet noodles, natural dyes.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Anabas testudineus is one of freshwater fish living in the peat swamp area in the Pelalawan Village. A study aims to determine the reproductive biological aspect of betok fish. The fish was sampled 6 times, from March to May 2019. Parameters measured were sexuality, sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. Result shown that there was 102 fishes, 60 males and 42 females. Sex ratio of males and females was 1,4:1. In each sampling time there were male and females fishes in I, II, III and IV gonad maturity level. The gonad somatic index (GSI) in males were around 0,60-0,96% and females were around 0,62-2,79%. The female’s fecundity were around 2.395-4.862 eggs/fish, and egg diameter ranged from 0,5-0,8 mm.Keywords : Anabas testudineus, Sex ratio, fecundity, Gonad Maturity Level, Gonad Somatic Index.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted in coastal waters of Singkep Island held on 28 Januari 2018 – 4 Februari 2018. The study aimed at analyzing Pb, Cr, Cu and Zn concentration in waters column as well as in sediment were taken from two stations with three replicates at each station.. Heavy metals were analyzed by following Hutagalung procedure (1991) and Yap et al., (2003). The results showed that the average content of heavy metals in Singkep water is 0.23 mg/l (Pb), 0.05 mg/l (Cr),  0.09 mg/l (Cu),  and 0.43 mg/l (Zn), the sediment was 3.89 μg/g (Pb), μg/g, 18.53 (Cr), 2.08 μg/g (Cu), 38.67 μg/g (Zn). Simple linear regression analysis indicates negative correlation between Cr, Cu and Zn content in sea water and in sediment with Y =38.51 – 430.4x , r = 0.51 (Cr), Y =37.87 – 378.0x r = 0.88(Cu) ; and Y =45.74 – 16.31x, r = 0.11 ( Zn) and positive correlation between Pb content in sea water and in sediment with Y= -4.2241+ 34.19x, r = 0.71. The concentration of all metals measured in water exceeded the quality standard regulation. However, concentration of metals in sediments were below the ERL and ERM.Key Words : Singkep Island, Heavy Metal, Pollution, Seawater, Sediment

Abstract

 ABSTRACTThe aim of the study was to discover the potential level of Batukalang Beach as destination for marine ecotourism. The method used was survey methods, data was consisting of primary and secondary data. Interviewing sampling method was used purposively, particularly for tourist sample for local people, stakeholder and local goverment. The result showed that Batukalang Beach has a big potential in marine tourism and possess a big chance to develop in marine ecotourism sector. It was showed by the suitability value of marine ecotourism development. The value was resulted through tourism proponent criteria, total scores of WTA and WTP, scores of economic potential, and SWOT analysis.                                                                 Key Words: Batukalang, potential and marine ecotourism

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to determine the effect of ethanol solvent with different concentrations on the characteristics of catfish meat protein concentrates which include yield, proximate, and amino acids, to obtain optimal concentration. This research was conducted in 2 stages: first stage,the making of catfish meat flour, 2) making catfish meat protein concentrates using ethanol solvents with different concentrations (65% ethanol, 75% ethanol and 85% ethanol). The analysis showed that the use of ethanol solvent with different concentrations had a significant effect on the characteristics of protein concentrates. Ethanol solvent with a concentration of 85% was the best concentration in the production of protein concentrate with a yield, ash, water, protein, fat, and amino acid content was 80.42%, 19.44%, 6.35%, 68.37%, 0.55%, and50.25%, respectively. Keywords: Protein concentrate, catfish, ethanol

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study was conducted in June 2019 on Berhala Island, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research aims to determine the potential of ecotourism in Berhala Island and to analyze the suitability of ecology to be developed as an ecotourism location. The method used is a survey method and the determination of station points by purposive sampling. The results showed that the main marine ecotourism objects of Berhala Island are the beauty of the island, the view of the beach with clear waters, white sand and clean, underwater beauty, and protected animals such as turtles and dolphins and the phenomenon of the sun rising from above the lighthouse. The value of the Tourism Suitability Index ranges from 85.26 to 94.23%.Strategy (WO) Increasing the promotion of tourism on a national and international scale, construction of tourist support facilities, improving the quality of human resources through education and training. Strategy (SO) Development of marine tourism with the concept of ecotourism, creating jobs and preserving nature and maintaining the sovereignty of the State. Strategy (ST) Preparation of detailed zoning and regulations for the development of marine ecotourism potential, environmental utilization does not exceed the carrying capacity of the region, forming a special team for supervision of marine ecotourism potential development activities.
