Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in April-May 2019 in the waters of Poncan Island, North Sumatra Province, which aims to determine the large nutrient content of substrate (nitrate and phosphate), the level of seagrass density Enhalus acoroides, and to determine the effect of nutrient content of the substrate on the density of seagrass Enhalus acoroides. Determination of the research station by purposive sampling and research sampling using the transect line method. The results showed that the highest nutrient content of substrate (nitrate and phosphate) was found at Station II which has a type of muddy sand substrate and the area is influenced by tourist activity.Nitrate concentration values were 0,074 mg / l and 0,122 mg / l for phosphate concentration values.The highest seagrass density was in Station II with a value of 74,22 stands / m2which had the highest nitrate and phosphate content, and the lowest seagrass density was in Station III which had the lowest nitrate and phosphate concentrations.Simple linear regression test results of the influence of nutrient substrate on the density of seagrass with a value of R2(coefficient of determination) = 0,27 (nitrate), 0,40 (phosphate) indicates there was effect of nitrate and phosphate on the density of seagrass Enhalus acoroides. Keyword: Nutrient Substrate, Nitrate and Phosphate, Seagrass Density

Abstract

ABSTRACT             Bantan Timur Village, located in Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province, is a coastal area on the South Coast of Sumatra. The village is bordered by the Malacca Strait, the coastal and marine areas in this village also have fisheries and marine potential. So that many fishing communities live in the coastal area of East Bantan Village, and one of them is the Akit Tribe fishing community. to dig up information about the role of fishermen's wives in increasing the household income of Akit fishermen. The method used in this research is survey. This survey method directly observes the object of research, namely the role of fishermen's wives in increasing the household income of Akit tribe fishermen in Bantan Timur Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. Based on the results of the study, the characteristics of the Akit fishermen's wife are included in the productive age, low education level, the average income of the Akit fishermen's wife working in the salted fish processing sector and the coconut coping under the Bengkalis Regency Statistics Agency (BPS), which is Rp. 1,500,000 / month. The number of dependents of Akit tribal fishing families in Bantan Timur Village Bantan District Bengkalis Regency averages 5-6 people.Keywords: role, increase revenue, fisherman's wife

Abstract

AbstractPuntius hexazona (Sumatra fish) is a type of freshwater fish that inhabits the streams in the Riau University area and the upstream of the Sibam River. A study aims to understand the reproductive biology of P.hexazona has been conducted from May-August 2019. The fish was sampled 6 times, twice/month. Parameters measured were sexual characteristics, sex ratio, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index (GSI), fecundity and egg diameter. Results shown that the fish from the streamswas 54 (24 males and 30 females,  sex ratio of 1: 1.25), while that of the Sibam River was 38 (16 males and 22 females, sex ratio of 1: 1.38). The average of GSI and fecundity of the fish from the streams was 3.37 and 432 respectively, while those of the Sibam River was 3.08 and 327. Egg diameter of all fish sampled was ranged from  0.33 to 0.78 mm. The eggs distribute evenly in the ovary an it indicates that the fish is a total spawner.Keywords: Sumatra fish, gonad maturity level, gonad somatic index, fecundity, total spawner.

Abstract

ABSTRACKVaccines are weakened microorganisms aimed at raising the immunity of fish against a particular disease. The purpose of this research is to find out what is the best dosage of feed containing HydoVac vaccine on Siamese jambal siam fish (Pangasius hypophthalmus). This research has been conducted in April to August 2019 which is housed in the parasitic laboratory and fish disease Faculty of Fisheries and Marine of Riau University. The test fish used is the seed of a Siamese jambal siam fish that measures 8-10 cm by 150 tails.The method used in this research is a method of experimental with the complete random draft (RAL) a factor of 5 levels of treatment and 3 times repeated, the treatment is Kn (feeding without the Hydrovac vaccine and without test challenge with bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila), Kp (giving feed without HydroVac vaccine and test challenge with bacteria Aeromonas Hydrophila), P1 (addition of Hydrovac vaccine on feed at a dose of 6 ml/kg feed), P2 (the addition of Hydrovac vaccine in the feed at a dose of 8 ml/kg feed) and P3 (the addition of Hydrovac vaccine in the feed at a dose of 10 ml/kg feed). Fish maintained for 30 days in the aquarium, Test Challenge on the 31st day using the bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila. The measured parameters are total erythrocytes, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit value, fatigue, relative percent survival (RPS), and absolute weight growth. Results showed that the addition of HydoVac vaccine on the feed can prevent the disease Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS), judging from the total average eritosit 139x104 cells/mm3, hemoglobin 6,22 g/dL, Hematocrit value 25,11%, life 90%, relative percent survival (RPS) 85,18% and total weight growth 11.76 G. Based on the obtained data can be concluded that the addition of HydroVac vaccine in feed is able to increase the body resistance of the Siamese Jambal siam (Pangasius hypophthalmus).Keywords: Pangasius hyphophthalmus, vaccine HydroVac, Aeromonas hydrophila,

Abstract

ABSTRACT    This research was conducted on may 2019 in Suka Maju  Village, Rambah sub-District, Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. This study aims to determine the characteristics of fish farmers. to find out how the level of motivation of fish farmers and to analyze how the characteristics relate to the motivation of fish cultivator businesses. The method used in this study is the survey method which is analyzed using Rank Spearman and the number of respondents in this study were 25 respondents.  From the results of the research analysis, Farmers characteristics include: age, education, income, number of dependents and bussiness experience. From the results of the research analysis, it was found that the level of motivation of fish farmers is seen from 6 indicators namely 3 indicators of intrinsic motivation (willingness, hope, enthusiasm)and 3 indicators of extrinsic motivation (rewards, income, market opportunities), the more dominant indicator is the intrinsic motivation indicator with a score of 48%,and extrinsic motivation indicators 44%. The relationship of characteristics with the motivation of fish farmers stated, the relationship of intrinsic motivation related to age, education, and business experience has a significant relationship, the relationship between intrisic motivation with income and the number of family dependents is not significant. And extrinsic motivation relations related to age, education, number of family dependents and business experience have a significant relationship, the relationship between extrinsic motivation and income is not significant.        Keywords: Relationships, characteristics, motivation business, fish farmer.

Abstract

ABSTRAKThis research was conducted from October to December 2018 at the Laboratory of Parasites and Fish Diseases, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau. This study aims to obtain the best dose from the solution of harumanis mango seeds (Mangifera indica L.) to treat catfish (P. hypophthalmus) infected with A. hydrophila seen from the picture of leukocytes. While the expected benefits are a solution of harumanis mango seeds can be used as a medicine to treat Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS) disease. The method used in the research is the experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five levels of treatment, namely (Kn): Infected fish A. hydrophila and untreated mango seed solution, (Kp): Fish infected A. hydrophila are not treated with mango seed solution, (P1): Fish infected A. hydrophila were soaked with mango seed solution at a dose of 1600 ppm, (P2): Fish infected A. hydrophila were immersed in a manga seed solution at a dose of 1800 ppm (P3): Infected fish A. hydrophila is soaked in a solution of mango seeds at a dose of 2000 ppm. The leukocyte parameters measured were total leukocytes, leukocrit percentage, leukocyte differentiation and phagocytic activity.The results showed that the solution of harumanis mango seeds was influential in treating catfish infected with A. hydrophila, the dose of 2000 ppm mango seed solution was the best dose in the treatment of catfish infected with A. hydrophila seen from a total leukocyte of 7.37 x 104 cells / mm3, leukocrit levels of 2%, phagocytic index of 35.67%, and survival rate reached 80%. While the percentage of 81% lymphocytes, 10.67% monocytes and 8.33% neutrophils. The results of measurements of water quality during the study, namely temperature 28.2-28.50C, pH 5-6.7 dissolved oxygen 5-6.7 mg / L, and ammonia 0.02 mg / L. Keywords: Description of Leukosit, Pangasius hypophtalmus, Mangifera indica L., Aeromonas hydrophila

Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted in February in the Meskom village, Bengkalis subdistrict, Bengkalis regency, Riau province. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect and differences in catches of drift gillnet by using the mesh size differences. The method used is a survey method. Catches of drift gillnet with 2 inch mesh size are Bombay duck, Slender shad, Shorthead hairfin anchovy, Sagor catfish, Shark and White pomfret. Based on the total weight obtained, the catch was dominated by Shorthead hairfin anchovy (setipinna breviceps) by 30% with a total weight of 89,5 kg.The catch in the mesh size of 3 Inches is not as much as the mesh size of 3 Inch, namely Wolf herrings, Tread Fins,  Narrow barred spanish mackerels and Longjaw thryssa. The percentage of catch that was dominated was Tread fins. From the t-test calculation, there is a difference in the catch of the drift gillnet. Keyword: Drift Gillnet, Mesh Size, Catch

Abstract

Abstract Koto Tibun Reservoir is one of the reservoirs that exist in Riau Province precisely on the road crossing Pekanbaru-Bangkinang km. 43, Kampar District. These reservoirs are used for agriculture irrigation, aquaculture water supply and other needs. The research aims to understand the limnological condition in the Koto Tibun Reservoir based on physical – chemical parameters was conducted from February - March 2018. There are 3 stations, namely Station 1 (riverine zone), Station 2 (transition zone), and Station 3 (lacustrine). Sample were taken once/week for a 3 weeks period. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparancy, depth, water current, DO, CO2 free, pH, nitrate and phosphate concentration. Result shown that the temperature was 25,3 - 25,6 0C, transparancy 75 - 79 cm, depth 3,11 -  3,54 m, water current 0,16 - 0,40 m/second, DO 4,78 - 5,62 mg/L, CO2 free 18,64 - 19,44 mg/L, pH 5, nitrate 0,186 - 0,193 mg/L and phosphate 0,093 - 0,113 mg/L.  Based on nitrate and phosphate concentrations in Koto Tibun Reservoirs waters can be categorize oligotrophic and mesotrophic - eutrophic conditions.Keyword : Koto Tibun Reservoir, Aquaculture, Water Quality, Trophic Status

Abstract

ABSTRACT  T. anomala is a type of shrimp that commonly found in the muddy areas of mangrove along the  coastalareaSelatPanjang. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the chitosan in absorbing heavy metals in gravestones.Carapace from T. anomala is used as raw material of chitosan.The carapace was taken and then washed, dried, refined, demineralization, de-preoteinated, deasitelation and was tested of heavy metals Pb and Cd in gravestone using AAS.The characteristics of chitosan T. anomala were semi-transparent cream color, in the form of amorphous solid, and odorless with yield value, moisture content, ash content, nitrogen content and the degree of deacetylation 17.5%, 6.74% (gw), 4.32% (dw) , 7.55%, and 71% respectively.Based on reduction values of Pb and Cd heavy metals, the concentration of K3% was the best concentration with the reduction values of 84.56% and 50.00%, respectively. These values indicate that the effectiveness of chitosan in absorbing is strong.Key words: Mud lobster, chitosan, heavy metals Pb and Cd.

Abstract

ABSTRACT                The research on was conducted in February until March 2019 in Koto Baru sub-District, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra Province.Its was aimed to find out how the elements of the fisheriesextension activities and how thefish farmerbusiness motivation and than how the relationship of elements of the fisheriesextension activities with thefish farmerbusiness motivation. The method used in this study is the survey method which is analyzed using Rank Spearman and the number of respondents in this study were 30 respondents.               From the results of the research, it was found that theelements of the fisheries extension activitieswas seen from an indicator of the extension workers, counseling material, a method of counseling, the media counseling, and frequency counseling are categorized efective with a total score2.088, and tofish farmer business motivation was seen from an indicator of motive, expectation, and incentive are categorized high with a total score 1.271. Have a real relationship and significan between elements of the fisheriesextension activities withfish farmer business motivation, relationships real are value a correlation coefficient 0.932**, it means having value the relationship overpowering. Value correlation between elements of the fisheries extension activities with the fish farmer business motivation valuable (+), it means direction relationship parallel, so that it can be concluded that elements of the fisheries extension activities have relationship on the level of  the fish farmer business motivation  Keywords: Relationship, elements of the extension activities, business motivation, fish farmer.
