Abstract

AbstractMAS disease(Motile Aeromonas Septicemia)is a serious disease, can attack all types of freshwater fish in tropical areas and can cause 100% death within three days. Treatment with antibiotik and chemicals is not recommended, therefore it is necessary to alternative from natural ingredients such as Rhizophora sp. leaves that have antimakrobial content such as tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids and saponins. The purpose of the research is to find out the effectiveness of Rhizophora sp. leaf extract to treat gills and kidneys of fish infected with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. The method is a survey method with a comparatively descriptive data analysis between treatments. Test fish used are siamese jambal fish(Pangasius hypophthalmus) infected with A. hydrophila measuring 13-15 cm. The dosage used for treatment is 0 ppm, 1300 ppm, 1600 ppm, 1900 ppm. Treatment is done by immersion in Rhizophorasp.leaf extract solution for 5 minutes as much as twice with an interval of 24 hours. The parameters measured include; clinical symptoms, gill and renal histopathology, and water quality. Fish organs in the process of histology and coloring (HE). The results showed that Rhizophorasp.leaf extract pointed tochanges in gill tissue and kidneys of fish infected with A. hydrophila. The best dose is 1600 ppm with gill tissue abnormalities in the form of: lamella fusion, while the kidneys show abnormalities in the form of: hypertropy and necrosis. Keywords: Rhizophora sp., Aeromonas hydrophila, Histopathology,Pangasius hypophthalmus

Abstract

AbstractThe selectivity of the fishing gear is defined as the ability of the fishing device to obtain specific fishing targets by type and size during the capture process and allow all unwanted by-catch catches to be passed unscathed (FAO, 1995). The purpose of this study was to find out the selectivity of the mesh size and the composition of the catch of drift gillnets in PPN Sungailiat. The result of this research is a drift gillnet with a mesh size of 8.89 cm caught tuna with a fork length range of 32 - 45.7 cm and the highest catch ratio was caugth at fork length (L). = 37.7 cm with Sa = 0.999289326.Meanwhile, mesh size of 10.16 cm caught tuna with a fork length range of 36.6 - 50.3 cm and the highest catch ratio was caught at fork length (L) = 43.3 cm with Sb = 0.999974108.So that drift gillnet with a mesh size of 10.16 cm are more selective than drift gillnet with a meh size of 8.89 cm,because the L value is greater and the S value is closer to 1. As well as catching more large fish that are fit to catch (≥ 40 cm). Keywords : Fishing Gear; Selectivity; Sungailiat; Drift Gillnet

Abstract

ABSTRACThe dominant fishing gear used in the Ombilin River is the bamboo trap compared to other fishing gear. The process of making bamboo traps takes a long time and the type of bamboo used as the basic material for the bubu is increasingly difficult to obtain, so some fishermen try to use PVC wire counters. This study aims to compare the number of catches using bamboo traps and wire traps operated in the Ombilin River. The results showed that the difference in the number of catches based on weight and tail was more wire traps than bamboo traps. The number of catches based on tails and weight obtained by bamboo traps with an average catch for 15 days of capture is 37.33 fish (2533.20 grams), while in wire traps the average catch is 52.86 fish (2810.87 grams). Keywords : bamboo trap, wire trap, number of catches.
