Abstract

Liquid wastes originated from fish market and tofu industries are rich in organic materials and it is potencial as basic materials for liquid fertilizer. To understand the N, P and K content in the liquid fertilizer made from fish market and tofu industries liquid waste, a study has been conducted from February to March 2015. The fertilizer was made by fermented the waste with EM4 for 30 days. There were 5 treatments applied, namely 100% market waste (P1); 100% tofu waste (P2); 50% market waste and 50% tofu waste (P3); 75% market waste and 25% tofu waste (P4) and 25% market waste and 75% tofu waste (P5). Result shown that the P4 shown the highest content of N (1,700 mg/L) and P (395.9 mg/L), but the K content in all treatments was almost the same. Addition of the liquid fertilizer into Azolla microphyla media significantly increase the growth of the plant and the best result was also obtained in the plant that was fertilized by P4. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the liquid fertilizer made from combination of the market and tofu liquid wastes provided better performance in N and P content.Keyword: Fish market liquid waste, Tofu liquid waste, Liquid Fertilizer, EM4, Azolla microphylla

Abstract

Based from result of the research that 15 % honey basting toward smoked catfishcould increase the quality based from organoleptic value, chemical malue, pH value, sugarcontent, fungi identification and total of bacteria colonies. The results showed that theprocess of honey basting had a significant effect toward the appearance value, texture, taste, moisture content, protein content, fat, ash content, sugar content, and total of bacteriacolonies, without any effect toward smell content and pH value. Honey basting 15% increasethe organoleptic value quality of 7.02 on appearance value, 8.06 on textute, 7.68 on smell, and 7.64 on taste, with the bright brown color of the smoked fish, dense and compact texture, distinctive odor of smoked fish and have a good characteristic flavor of smoked fish. Thesmoked catfish contained 23.35% of moisture content, 37.10% of protein content, 14.49% offat, 5.37% of ash content, 7.22 of pH, 18.35 of sugar content, and 2.0 x 104 cell/gram of thetotal of bacteris colonies, could maintain the saving of smoked catfish (Pangasiushypophthalmus). Keywords: Catfish, coconut shell, honey

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to utilize waste utilization as a wet noodle natural dyes with different matter binding on consumer acceptance. Design used in this study was completely randomized design (CRD) factorial, with two treatments that wheat flour (B1) and corn starch (B2) and the concentration of squid of ink. The parameters observed are organoleptic test and proximate test (moisture content, protein content, fat content, ash content, and carbohydrate content). The result of study showed that wheat flour with added squid of ink to value organoleptic appearance, aroma, taste and value proximate moisture content, protein content, fat content, ash content, and carbohydrate content. Based on the level of consumer acceptance panelists preferred wet noodles are wheat flour with the addition of squid of ink 1.5%, where the value of such a (3.07%) shiny; aroma (2.80%) is not the typical smell of a wet noodle wheat flour; texture (3.07%) is very compact with a water content (46.82%); protein content (30.11%); fat content (1.89%); and total bacterial colony (3.73 x 104).Keywords:wet noodle, wheat flour, corn starch, fish protein concentrate, squid of ink

Abstract

The research was conducted in March until April 2015 to determine the correlation of weight reduction by smoking to the quality of smoked mackerel (Euthynnus affinis) fillet that stored at chilling temperature (7 ± 2 °C). The research was using correlational-experimental method. The first step is filleting the fish at the size of 1.5 cm in thickness and 70 g in weight, then soaked it in 30% salt brine for 5 minutes. Then the fillet was soaked in the liquid smoke at the consentration of 8% for an hour and then dried until the weight was reducing until several percentages, namely: 0%, 20%, 40% and 60% from the initial weight. Parameters used were hedonic values (appearance, odor, taste and texture), moisture content, pH, free fatty acid, total phenol, and bacterial total plate counts. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed using simple linear regression. The result shows that the increase of weight reduction on smoked fillet mackerel stored in chilling temperature (7 ± 2 °C) was significantly correlated to the increase of hedonic values (appearance (R2=0.665), odor (R2=0.629), taste (R2=0.559), and texture (R2=0.763)), total phenol (the first total phenol (R2=0.868), the end total phenol (R2=0.940) and free fatty acid (R2=0.493) (p<0.05). Otherwise, it was significantly correlated to the decrease of moisture content (R2=0.902), pH (R2=0.339) and bacterial total plate counts (R2=0.260) (p<0.05).Keywords: chilling temperature, Euthynnus affinis, smoked fish, weight reduction

Abstract

This research was conducted on December 2014. This study aims to determine how much of the investment, benefit, feasibility and problems faced by fish farmers in the aquaculture of Catfish (Pangasius sutchi) in the pond of Koto Mesjid Village. The method use in this research is a stratified random sampling method with respondens are 13 farmers were divided into 3 stratas. The results of this research indicate that business investment smoke catfish farming in the pond for aquaculture strata I is Rp. 53.905.057,-/unit aquaculture, for strata II the require Rp.135.942.250,-/unit aquaculture and investments for the aquaculture of strata III is Rp.229.361.250,-/unit aquaculture. The value BCR of Catfish farmers in the Koto Mesjid village is between 1.08 until 1.13, value of FRR is 16.02% until 25.08% and the value of PPC 7.97 period until 12.48 period. Based on the results of the analysis of the work done then concluded that the cultivation of the most financially feasible to be developed is the cultivation of strata III by using the BCR value of 1.13, FRR amounted to 25.08%/years and PPC are 7,97 period or 3.99 years. Constraints faced by farmers in the enterprise is feed prices tend to be relatively high and the presence of pests and diseases that attack the fish in the pond.Keyword: Koto Mesjid village, Investment, BCR, FRR, PPC, Catfish

Abstract

Lubuk Siam Lake is one of the oxbow lakes in the Lubuk Siam Village, SiakHulu Sub-regency, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This lake is overgrown by varioustypes of aquatic plants and almost cover the surface of the lake. This condition hampersthe fishing activities in the lake. This research aims to discover the types and density ofthe aquatic plant in Lubuk Siam Lake and it was conducted on February to March 2015.Field sampling was done 2 times, a month period. The plants were then identified basedon Van Steenis (1981).Results shown that there were 7 species of aquatic plants present in the LubukSiam Lake and they are belonged to 4 classes, 7 families. They are Eichhornia crassipes,Salvinia natans, Ipomoea aquatica, Cyperus sp., Paspalum sp., Pandanus sp., andNephrolepis sp. The most common plant is Salvinia natans (61-71 organisms/m2,relative density 55.94-57.13 %), while the rarest was Ipomoea aquatica (4.5-7organisms/m2, relative density 3.48-6.47 %). In general, the relative density of aquaticplants in the Lubuk Siam Lake can be categorized as rare to dense. Keywords: Lubuk Siam Lake, Aquatic Plant, Density
