Abstract

Petroleum oil still serves as a primary source of energy and national fuel. Oil reserves in Indonesia are depleting so substitution of fuel that derived from petroleum have to be sought. Recent years, a lot of research has done, whose purpose to find a fuel that can be an alternative source one of that is biodiesel. Raw material for making biodiesel can be from animal fat or vegetable oil. One type of vegetable oil that can be used as a raw material source of energy is kapok wood. This research is aimed to make biodiesel from cotton oil, to study factors which influences production, such as acid-based activated catalyst, the regeneration catalyst, and to determine the physical and chemical properties of biodiesel. The transesterification process was done on a mole ratio of oil: methanol 1: 9, oil mass 50 grams, the weight of the catalyst 1%-wt, temperature of 60°C during 90 minutes, the activation of clay catalysts are in acids and bases, and then recycle and regeneration of catalyst. This study given the biodiesel result having the largest yield of alkaline activation of the catalyst as much as 93.1%. Characterization of physical properties of biodiesel have a density 871 kg/m3, kinematic viscosity 3.5 mm2/s, acid number 0.37 mg KOH/g sample, and the flash point 210oC respectively. The catalyst regeneration cannot restore 100% reactivity of catalyst.Keywords: biodiesel, clay, recycle, regeneration, transesterification

Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) was high strength organic wastewater contained COD 40.000 – 60.000 mg/l. To decreased lag phase on anaerobic treatment for treat it, the anaerobic mixed culture bacteria should be acclimatized toward POME. The bioreactor acclimatization process used circulating batch reaktor with worked volume 24 L and ratio wastewater to biomass bacteria was 80:20 (% V/V). The parameter observed in this research was COD and VSS. Seeding process was doing in 7 days with highest efficient of the reduction COD was 34,54% and enhancement VSS 51,71%. Abstract

The turn-milling test has three methods in the process of working are orthogonal, tangential, and co-axial. In this methods turn-milling test produces a varied surface roughness. To optimize the surface roughness in this method orthogonal turn-milling then the variation of testing is done at the rotation velocity of workpiece and feeding velocity. The testing process of turn-milling machining is performed on conventional lathe with the addition of a rotary tool. The purpose of this research is to get the optimum rotation velocity of workpiece and feeding velocity of the value of surface roughness and To know the effect of velocity rotation of workpiece and feeding velocity to surface roughness value. With increasing velocity rotation of workpiece and feeding velocity, velocity rotation of the workpiece increased will affect the surface roughness value. Based on the roughness class N, the 630 rpm rotation of workpiece parameters with feed rate of 0.060 mm is a good parameter in this study because it produces a roughness value of 1.489 μm lower than the other test.Keywords : Turn-milling, Round, Feeding, Roughness.

Abstract

Implementation of the project of New Apron Development Workshop of Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru from initial observations of previous authors poses a risk during the construction period of unpredictable events by civil engineer is a force majure condition such as unpredictable volume during interim planning The time set does not include unexpected or over volume work. The delay that occurred in the project of Advanced Construction Work of New Apron Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, Pekanbaru on the field is 228 days (planned for 322 days but the realization in field 550 days). This resulted in the late apron at the SSK airport to be usable. However, by carrying out risk analysis, mitigation and control procedure obtained the following results: for the probability of 80% delay in execution time to 68 days. Reduction time delay reaches 70%. Implementation of risk management can control the project risk systematically.Keyword: Risk analysis, delay, project, probability.

Abstract

PT.PLN: 20 kV network substations Garuda Sakti, frequently interference, one of interferences is the short-circuit current. To install equipment to include Recloser. This paper discuss the analysisof the use Recloser on distribution network 20 kV, this paper also be simulated using the software ETAP 12.6 which will feature some of the parameters for comparison of calculations and data thatalready exists in PLN, with two parameters, short circuit and coordination Recloser with overcurrent relay (OCR). Recloser is supposed to work first on feeder interferences and OCR on theincoming side works for incoming 20 kV interferences.Keywords: Recloser, relay overcurrent, short circuit and simulation ETAP 12.6

Abstract

This research study the compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) of OPC and OPC rice husk ash (RHA) concrete. Test will be measured after 28 days immersed in peat water. Specimens will be immersed in peat water after 28 days cured in normal water. Compressive strength of OPC concrete showed biggest value than OPC with admixture RHA 5% and 10% which is increasing amount of RHA for subsitute cement will decreasing compressive strength. Test UPV of the specimen showed OPC RHA 5% being best quality than other.Keywords: Durabilty, OPC, RHA, peat environment.

Abstract

Threshing station is the separation palm kernel process from the bunch by way of slamming into a rotating drum. The purpose of this research is to design an automatic control system on the threshing station model using PLC Zelio smart relay. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is a microprocessor based on instrument that can be programmed to control the machining process automatically. The threshing station model is a shape which resemble of threshing station palm oil mill of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V - PKS Sei Galuh, it has been scaled 1 : 8. This design has 2 inputs namely push button to turn on and turn off of the works system, a rotary encoder sensor to detect the rotation screw conveyor, and has 3 outputs namely 3 units of DC motors. The programming language is used the ladder diagram by using the Software Zelio Soft 2. This design consist of the design of ladder diagram program, an automation control system design in the auto feeder and the rotary encoder sensor design. The result of this design is revealed that auto feeder runs automatically turn on for 60 seconds and turn off for 30 seconds, continuously. The rotary encoder sensor works with voltage is 4.4 Volt at the moment un-stunted and 0 .1 Volt when the stunted.Keywords : Automatic Control System, Threshing Station Model, PLC Zelio Smart Relay, Rotary Encoder Sensor.

Abstract

The cost of electrical bill in most of hospital in this big cities indicates getting high. This phenomenal can be anticipated through auditing. By doing this audit will be able to determine the cost factor and the related issue. This paper purposes audit energy to a hospital to evaluate the potential energy saving to reduce wastes of energy for unnecessary things. In this analysis will be obtained the hospital operational cost in the efficient way. The raw data is findout by observation and direct measurement in the respective hospital. The measurement of power quality in the electricity panel main by using the instrumention of power quality analyzer (PQA). The output of this instrumen has managed to figure out the following parameters i.e. output of voltage (V) , the current (ampere) , power factor (cosphi) , active power (W) , power reactive (VAR) and power imaginery (VA). Base on the measuremant result, the power quality status the hospital is obtained. In the overall, the following results are describing i.e. energy consumtion intensity (ECI) is 6,1 kWh/m2/month for non ac room and considered as inefficient criteria and 12,89 kWh/m2/month for ac room considered as efficient criteria .The measurement also to include the lighting component to get the intensity of light to compare the condition a standard value. Abstract

The availability irrigation and drainage systems had to experience a reduction in capability and performance. This is due to lack of maintenance and monitoring for the beginning so it works out of its capacity limit, the low performance of Operations and Maintenances (O & M), deficiency and deteriorating services. Since 2015, the irrigation area Sei Silam has no O & M because of the transfer ofauthority which is from Kampar district government to Riau provincial government. Therefore, it is necessary for evaluating the performance index of facilities and infrastructure in the main irrigation area based on Minister of Public Work Regulation Number 12/PRT/M/2015 which has been interpreted into IrrigationSystem Performance Index (Indeks Kinerja Sistem Irigasi – IKSI). Result of research showed that the performance index is 71.30%or condition of performance is good; where physical infrastructure is in the amount of 31.98%; plantation productivity is equal to 13.02%; supporting facility is 7.7%; personnel organizationis equal to 9.6%; 5% of documentation; also there is 4% in Water User Farmer Association.Keywords: performance index, irrigation, IKSI

Abstract

Processing of palm oil into Crude Palm Oil (CPO) will produce a large amount of liquid waste. To produce a ton of crude palm oil (CPO) produced 6 m3 of palm oil mill effluent. In this study, a process for removing organic compounds in wastewater using the advanced oxidation process by combining peroxymonosulfate (2KHS5.KHSO4.K2SO4) and a catalyst of LaMnO3 Perovskite. The combination will produce sulfate free radicals that capable degrading harmful organic compounds in effluent effectively. Nanocrystalline LaMnO3 was obtained by calcination at a temperature of 800 °C for 2 hours with an average crystal diameter of the highest peak of 29 nm in the shape of the Rhombohedral catalyst and the catalyst has qualified the catalyst with a nanoparticle structure. Several variations of oxidation process variables were performed to assess their effect on organic matter decline. Some fixed variables were oxidation reaction temperature 30 oC, reaction time 120 min, stirring speed 400 rpm, and concentration of peroxymonosulfate solution 2 g/L, pH of liquid waste is 8 and catalyst concentration 0,4 g / L. Conclution of this research is efficiency of 80.5 % for decreasing COD and efficiency by 15,6% for TOC reduction. This proved that the LaMnO3 catalyst is capable of activating peroxymonosulfate.Keywords : AOP, LaMnO3 Perovskite, Oxidation, Peroxymonosulfate
