Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport Pekanbaru serve domestic and international flights, this airport is also a home base for Squadron 16 and Squadron 12 Roesmin Nurjadin air base. The noise level is affected by flight activity in the airport. The purpose of this research is to determine the intensity of noise at the airport and the surrounding residential area, duration of noise exposure, and mapping of noise spread pattern. Noise measurement method based on KepMenLH No 48 of 1996, and the device used is Sound Level Meter (SLM). Measurement of sound pressure level (Lp) lasted 1 day. Based on the results of data processing of the 5 points of measurement, results showed the level of noise in the airport area is 77.72 to 91.82 dBA . Noise control can be performed by making of noise barriers and using noise-absorbing materials in the construction of houses.Keyword : noise, airport, sultansyarifkasimII

Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) has total COD concentration 35.000 mg/L. In terms to treat the high strength organic wastewater, sludge from POME treatment plant which contained mixed cultures bacteria can be used as inoculum. This process was called seeding that has function to increase growth phase of the bacterial biomass by using glucose technical grade as substrate for bacteria to consumed. This study was conducted in Circulating Bed Reactor (CBR) as batch reactor with working volume of 25L, ratio of glucose : inoculum = 50% : 50%. This research aimed to study the effect of the glucose degradation in order to increase the bacterial biomass. This process was done in five days with removal rate of soluble COD and growth rate of VSS that has amount of 2.278 mg/L/day and 1.116 mg/L/day, respectively. Meanwhile the removal efficiency of soluble COD was 28,57% and growth efficiency of VSS was 67,4%. Abstract

Solid waste produced by the palm oil processing industry consists of oil palm empty bunches (20-23%), fiber (10-12%), and shells (7-9%). Until now, the solid waste of palm fruit fiber is used as a potential energy source to be burned as boiler fuel. But along with the increase in Crude Palm Oil (CPO), there are still many palm fruit fibers that are not utilized optimally so that the waste only accumulates in the factory area, so the alternative sollution that can be done is by composting. Composting of palm fruit fiber waste with the addition of POME liquid waste which aims to determine the effect of adding Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) liquid waste with variations of 0%, 20%, 30% and 40% to the C/N ratio and measurements of C, N, pH, water content, and measurements are carried out. temperature, and the compost product is compared to compost quality standards (SNI 19-7030-2004). The results showed that the effect of POME addition at 20% gave the best results as indicated by the content of C/N 10.81, pH 6.99, water content 42.44% and temperature 32.06 oC, and compost product fulfill the quality standards SNI 19-7030-2004 compost. Thus, the best composting performance of palm fruit fiber waste is the addition of 20% POME with the fastest composting time at 25 days. Utilization of palm fruit fiber is one of the solutions to sustainable environmental pollution control. Abstract

Palm oil mill effluent (POME) has high chemical oxygen demand (COD) content of 44.444 mg/L causing the most suitable processing technology is anaerobic digestion. This research aimed to study soluble COD removal efficiency and bacteria growth rate as VSS in acclimatization process of rumen fluid as inoculum addition in POME treatment. Acclimatization I was conducted in circulating bed reactor (CBR) with working volume 20 L, ratio of glucose : POME inside the reactor is 50% : 50% (%v/v). Meanwhile, acclimatization II was conducted in upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) with working volume 10 L, ratio of glucose : POME inside the reactor is 0% : 100% (%v/v). Acclimatization I and II was done in 20 and 50 days with soluble COD removal efficiency 80,36% and 65,41%, respectively. Meanwhile, bacteria growth rate as VSS has amount of 277 mg/L/day and 429 mg/L/day, respectively. Keywords: palm oil mill effluent, acclimatization, mixed culture bacteria, glucose, soluble COD, VSS

Abstract

The cellulase enzyme is a collection of several enzyme that work together to hydrolyze cellulase. Cellulase enzyme are widely used in the textile, food, detergent, bioefuel and pulp and paper industries so that the enzyme needs continue to increase every year. The production of cellulase enzyme using natural substrate which is widely available in Indonesia, namely empty palm bunches as a carbon source as an expensive carboxymethyl cellulase (CMC) substitute and using Bacillus substillis isolates. This study aims to obtain optimum conditions for cellulase enzyme production with acid pretreatment on oil palm empty fruit bunch substrate and variations in pH of the medium using Bacillus substillis. Pretreatment was carried out so that lignocellulose biomass is more easily hydrolyzed and increases glucose level which will enter the next production phase. Variations in the pretreatment were carried out by adding with acids as well as variations in pH 6,5;7,0; and 7,5. Enzyme activity was calculated using the Nelson-Somogyi method. The result showed that the highest enzyme activity was obtained at pH 7,0 and 40ºC at the pretreatment TKS with acid of 0,041 U/ml. Abstract

Palm oil mill effluent (POME) has a COD content of 44,444 mg / L. The use of mixed cultures and single cultures such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae in removing Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) has the advantage of being able to adapt to mixed substrates. This research aims to study the comparison of COD removal from POME using mixed culture bacteria and single culture. This study was conducted in a batch system using Circulating bed reactor (CBR) with a working volume of 20L and 5L, the ratio of inoculum: substrate = 30%: 70%. The results showed that the efficiency of dissolved COD removal in mixed cultures was proportional to a single culture that was equal to 42% with a removal rate of 1.114 mg / L / day. Meanwhile, the growth rate of VSS in mixed culture bacteria was 2.800 mg / L / day and a single culture was 2.667 mg / L / day.Key words: Palm oil mill effluent, mixed culture bacteria, single cultures, COD Removal, VSS
