Abstract

Palm fly ash is waste in the palm oil industry. Palm fly ash has high content of silica. ZSM-5 is one of synthetic zeolite which used as catalyst. It can be synthesized from silica and alumina using hidrothermal method. Source of silica that can be used to ZSM-5 synthesis are sodium silicate, gelled silica and precipitated silica. the purpose of this research is to synthesis ZSM-5 using precipitated silica hydrothermally. The result was analyzed using FTIR. ZSM-5 can be synthesized using precipitated silica hydrothermally. Based on infrared spectrum,the product synthesis shows four characteristic of ZSM-5 characters.Key words : fly ash, silica, hydrothermal and ZSM-5

Abstract

Waste water of textile industry contributes in environmental pollution, especially wastewater containing dye and organic compounds are dangerous because they are non-biodegradable, toxic and harmful to the environment, like as Rhodamine B. Therefore, it is necessary to do the processing of waste dye textile industry to reduce the impact of pollution on the environment. One of the lastest innovations in the processing of textile waste is using advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) by oxidant capable of generating a radical sulphate (SO4*). This study aims to determine the activity of Ce@Carbon Sphere as a catalyst in the oxidation process, to degradation of dye in wastewater by using a combination of peroxymonosulfate and catalyst Ce@Carbon Sphere as an oxidater, and determine the optimum conditions to reduce dye in water. Catalytic synthesis process carried out by the hydrothermal process to produce black carbon from D-glucose and Cerium Nitrate Hexahidrate solution, at 180oC for 18 hours in an autoclave. Then calcined with N2 at 550oC for 2 hours. Degradation of Rhodamine B (waste artificially) 25 ppm for 2 hours with various concentrations of the catalyst 0,1; 0,2; 0,3 and 0,4gr/L and the concentration proxymonosulfate 1; 2; 3 and 4 g/L. One oft the conditions for reducing the levels of Rhodamine B in water is concentration of peroxymonosulfate at 1 g/L and Ce@Carbon Sphere at 0,1 g/L with efficiency up to 32,59%.Keywords: AOPs, Rhodamine B, Ce@Carbon Sphere, Peroxymonosulfate

Abstract

This paper offers ideas for designed a lighting system based RF Transceiver. design involves two sensors, sensor based infrared and sensor based light intensity and then becomes the input for the processor media. the output of the system is automatic switch lights. The automatic switch ensures that the circuit remains turned off when natural illumination is available. The automatic light is made functional from dusk to dawn because sensor reads the light intensity. A movement sensor is used to enhance the conservation of energy. It makes the automatic light operate on low brightnesswhen there is no movement. When a person is approaching, the brightness increases till the person has passed. Abstract

Geopolymers are the result of synthesizing inorganic polymers by reacting high concentrated alkali solutions with Si and Al minerals contained in fly ash. The use of these geopolymers can reduce consumption levels of OPC use in the construction industry. This study aims to create geopolymer based fly ash palm mill with the addition of graphene oxide as filler and Determine the effect of NaOH concentration and the amount of grafena oxide addition to geopolymer compressive properties as well as to study the morphological and physical-chemical structure in geopolymer. Geo-polymer preparation includes several steps of fly ash and sand preparation and then continued by making alkali activator solution (NaOH + Sodium silicate) with 6 M, 10 M and 14 M variations and grafena oxide addition with 0%, 0.2% wt, 0.4% wt, and 0.6% wt. The results showed that the highest compressive strength on the addition of NaOH concentration of 14 M and the addition of 0.6% wt of oxena oxide is 13.2 Mpa on and the lowest compressive strength is produced at the concentration of NaOH 6 M and without the addition of GO that is 5.1 Mpa. This study shows that the addition of graphene oxide can increase the compressive strength of the geopolymer and NaOH as an alkaline solution can reduce the GO sheet into rGO sheets and create an increasingly denser geopolymer structure as the NaOH concentration increases.Key words : Geopolymer, Fly Ash, Graphene Oxide

Abstract

Years of 2015, is a new era in ASEAN region, goes to compromise of ASEAN Economic Society (MEA). Every citizen in ASEAN region has equal opportunity in economic competition, without exceptionyouths. One of the most issues about youth is youth increasing ability program in ASEAN region. To reach this program, It needs a facility as container that known with youth center. Indonesia as country has mainly actor in increasing youthparticipation. It signs that Indonesian was being hosted some youth agendas. Therefore nowadays, Indonesia has not youth center facility that it can be container youth activity.Because of that it should produce youth center facility in Indonesia. Pekanbaru has wellchosen as location of youth center in Indonesia because it has strategic location, besides ofMalacca strait in which international trade routes and directly beside of some ASEAN country. ASEAN youth center perhaps afford to be ASEAN youth representative. Youth center in Pekanbaru emphasis is post-modern architecture, it means is combine modern style between vernacular architecture. It emphasis will produce modern shape but it still has local tradition or local genius. The aim of this research is designing ASEAN youth center inPekanbaru with Neo-Vernacular architecture as paradigm. Generally the strategy on this design such as zoning, mass shape, outdoor / landscape, circulation, structure, and facade.The result of this research is getting ASEAN youth center design in which combine some ASEAN architecture style like Malay, Hindu temple and Buddha temple.Keywords: ASEAN, Youth Center, Neo Vernacular, Pekanbaru.

Abstract

Aseptic packaging is one of the largest contributors of garbage where the production reaches 4 billion pieces per year. The handling of this garbage haven’t maximum yet, so it can be an opportunity to recycle the aluminum foil into alum. The aluminum foil on aseptic packaging contents 52% of aluminum, measured with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The product to make alum are 20%, 30% and 40% of KOH and the variation of 6M, 8M, and 10M H2SO4. The research show that the maximum produced of alum was mostly produced by using 40% of KOH and 6M of H2SO4 which produced 19,91 gr of alum from 3 gr of raw materials or equal to 72.69%. The characteristic of the potassium alum has content 4.59% of aluminum and 0% of insoluble substances.Keywords: Aluminum, Aseptic packaging, Potassium alum

Abstract

A lightning protection system is indispensable for the building that has a very vital function, such as Hospital. To protect the building from direct strike and indirect strike use of air terminationsystem and arrester. Among them are air termination system, Protection Angle Method, Method Jala, and Rolling Sphere Method. Building Riau University Hospital is a health care center built by size (p x l x t) 61m x 31m x 27m. To design a lightning protection system at the University Hospital of Riau note identifying the needs of a lightning protection system based PUIPP, the determination of the distance from the strike, election finial, determination conductor resistance values down andgrounding buildings. From the calculation of hazard assessment, the area of lightning strikes reach 37406.98 m2, the possibility of being struck by lightning strikes each year at 0.8915 with a lightning protection system efficiency by 0.883. Based on the results of the design and analysis of building structures Riau University Hospital using the ball rolling seen that the existing protection system can not protect the entire building well. From these results it appears that the building Riau UniversityHospital requires 8 finial placed on any area affected by stroke each finial 1 meter high and the ground is good enough prisoners of 3.5 ohms.Keywords : lightning protection system, rolling sphere method, distance strike

So it is with Malay Contemporary Architecture through design thatremain based on Malay traditions, but more advanced, varied, flexible and innovative both in form and appearance, material use and technology used to support the latest architecturalstyle. This study aims to identify the application of Malay Contemporary Architecture in new buildings in urban areas. Abstract

Electricity supply from PLN network is not always continually available, there could be a blackout at any time. To anticipate such outages, it is necessary to design an automatic transfer switch between the main power source and the backup power. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the automatic transfer switch equipment, where mechanically formed by cam-switch which is driven directly by variable reluctance stepper motor with microcontroller ATMega8535. Automatic mode of operation is determined by stepper motor controlled by microcontroller ATMega8535 while manual mode is done by using grip handle attached to the rotor axis of variable reluctance stepper motor. The determination electricity supply of genset and PLN conditions is determined tolerance of ± 20% from 220 VAC standard voltage of PLN, this condition becomes the basis for moving the stepper variable reluctance motor with the angle-step position -300 for the supply of PLN (I) and +300 angle for generator (II) to move Cam-switch to supply the load. The testing design has done with the following result i.e. the variable reluctance stepper motor will rotate if fullfilled the 20% of tolerance to achieve for the uninterruptible load supply. Abstract

Batik wastewater have color contents as naphtol, indigosol, and remazol which is streamed directly to the environment without treatment can decrease environment quality because batik wastewater consist heavy metals, suspended solids, and organic matters. Batik wastewater can be treated by electrocoagulation method. These research targets are to determine the removal efficiency of TSS and pH, compare to the quality standard, and knowing the effect of voltage and contact time. The electrocoagulation basin reactor is made in 30 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm of dimentions with total volume of wastewater is 10 L, using aluminium electrode plates with size of plate is of 17 cm x 17 cm, the plate thickness is 3 mm the distance between plates is 1 cm. The variabele of research are voltage (10, 15, and 20 volts) and contact time 30, 45, and 60 minutes. The result showed that the most efficient is 20 volts of voltage 60 minutes of contact time. The percent removal for TSS is 99,11% with concentration of effluent is 11 mg/L. The pH value is 11,2. Based on the result TSS parameter already complied the standard of PERMENLH/5/XLII/2014, except pH parameter.Keywords: Aluminium, electrocoagulation, batik wastewater, voltage, time contact.
