Abstract

Lightning strike is one of the main causes of faults at 150 kV transmission line in Indonesia. This fault may cause damage on the electrical system equipment. Therefore, the protection device to protect the equipment is essential to ensure reliable operation of electrical system. Arrester is a protection device that can be used to protect equipment from lighting strike. The life time of the arrester is effected, when the number of strike is increased. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the lightning strike to the life time of the arrester. A number of parameters were used in this study such as: Thunderstormday (IKL),lightning current, the length of transmission line, The Total Probability of the Arrester Failure. It has been found from the results that when there was a lighting strike with 1 kA until 45 kAand the tail duration 0 until 45s , The Total Probability of the Arrester Failure is 0,00141255. Therefore, with IKL 150 per year, the life time of the arrester is 2 years and 2 months when it is hitted by 1 kA until 45 kA lighting.Keywords: Arrester, life time of arrester, lightning strike.

Abstract

Waste (B3) used oil is a residue of pure oil that comes from many kind of industrial activities and engine means. After waste oil is converted to fuel without special treatment. waste oil can be used as fuel for the internal combustion engine. The engine diesel is modified in the fuel filter system and the addition of the fuel pump. Filter system use fuel filter which is positioned parallel with two filtering stages. In the first stage the filter is given a magnet to pull the iron powder that is contained on the oil and the second filter has the function to filter out of the whole of the dirt that causes the nozzle to clog. This Fuel Pump serves to supply waste lubricant oil into the fuel injection system. Performance characteristics performed by testing a diesel engine at a constant speed of 2100 rpm. The harvesting start from 350 W. 700 W. 1000 W. 1350 W. 1700 W. 2000 W . 2350 W. 2700 W. and 3000 W with a variation of time of 3.5 minutes per loading on fuel consumpion. From the experimental results show the performance of diesel engine with used fuel oil waste does not change in power. Torque. and BMEP. Thermal efficiency of the bioslar obtained 18.54% and thermal efficiency in used oil 17.72%. Keywords : Waste Engine Oil. Diesel Engine. Filter. Pump

Abstract

Green Architecture is a design approach in building designing. Green Architecture treats landscape, building, and interiors as one, and is also applied as a sustainable approach on development cycle. Green Architecture on the design of Palm Oil Research and Development Center is used as a method to transform concept, principle, and design strategy that exploit surrounding area weakness into an advantage to increase the building’s function. The concept of Power of Nature is applied to the design by metaphorical approach that is a combination of four natural elements in its interrelation to create balance. It is applied to the shape of building mass in terms of orientation, openings, roof shape, choice of color, and landscape pattern design.Keywords: Green Architecture, Palm Oil, Power of Nature

Abstract

The increasing need for energy and the depletion of petroleum reserves forces people to seek alternative energy sources. Based on the above problems it is necessary to analyse of the availability of generating systems to generate electrical energy pekanbaru city. This study uses a HOMER simulation consisting of Solar Cell (PV), Wind, and Converter. Simulation results of the highest availability of solar energy at 12.00 for 3.86 kw, and wind energy at 16.00 for 3.79 kw.for grouping of the potential winds are in group II that is locations with an average wind speed of 2,5 – 4 m/s. the resulting solar energy can be used for small scale electrical energy conversion system.Design of wind turbine (PLTB) and solar power plants the most optimal based on net present cost of $ 53.18 and cost of energy (COE) amount 506.$/kWh. In terms of its economy, the greater the installed renewable energy capacity, will decrease fuel usage levels and cost incurred.Keywords: PV, Wind, renewable energy, HOMER, Optimazation, Sensitivity, Availability

Abstract

Chitin is a biopolymer that can be used in the biomedical field. Chitin can be isolated from shrimp waste using chemical methods through deproteination and demineralization processes. To reduce color in chitin required decolorization stage. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of stirring rate and acetone concentration on the decolorization stage on the characteristics of chitin produced and to make mathematical modeling of carotenoid reduction from inside chitin using acetone in the decolorization stage. The research procedure begins with reducing the size of ebi waste into powder sizes. The powder was then reacted with 3.5% NaOH (deproteination), 1:10 (w / v) ratio for 2 h and stirring speed of 150 rpm. The deproteination product is reacted with HCl 1 N (demineralization), 1:15 (w / v) ratio for 1 h and stirring speed of 150 rpm. The demineralization product was decolourized using 60%, 80%, and 100% acetone, a ratio of 1:10 (w / v) at 70 ° C with a stirring rate of 0.150, and 300 rpm for 720 min. Samples were taken every 60 min increments of 5 mL, the solidified yield of the decolorization filtered and dried. The addition of carotenoids in acetone was analyzed using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the increase of stirring speed and concentration of acetone, carotenoid content in the solvent also increased. The results of colorimeter test for chitin before decolorization had percentage whiteness of 53.2%, while for chitin at 100% acetone concentration with stirring rate 0 rpm and 300 rpm had a whiteness percentage of 57.9% and 70.3 %.Keywords: acetone, decolorization, carotenoid, chitin, shrimp waste

Abstract

The use of natural rubber in the form of solids such as crumb rubber (SIR 20) will require a long time when mixing with asphalt, therefore mastication process is used before mixing with asphalt. Mastication is process of grinding natural rubber in open mill to break the chain in natural rubber polymer. The aim of this study to determine the effect of rubber mastication and rubber storage time after mastication on modified asphalt characteristics. In mastication process, asphalt as plasticizer agents with levels of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% w/w and rubber storage time after mastication are 0 days and 30 days. The asphalt used is 60/70 penetration type asphalt. Asphalt modified by mixing SIR 20 and asphalt with a ration of 1:9 at temperature of 165oC and stirring time for 30 minutes. Modified asphalt is tested for penetration test, softening point, marshall stability, and weight loss. The results of the study showed that the addition of plasticizers in rubber and rubber storage time after mastication affected the value of penetration, softening point, marshall stability, and weight loss. The best results were obtained at 0% plasticizer content and 0 days rubber storage time with a Penetration value of 58.5 dmm, Softening Point 59.1ºC, Marshall Stability 1710.9 kg, and Weight Loss 0%. The storage time of 30 days, the best results on a 5% plasticizer content with a Penetration value of 58.4 mm, Softening Point 56.3ºC, Marshall Stability 1463.3 kg, and Weight Loss 0.27%.Keywords : asphalt modification, plasticizer, mastication, SIR 20, penetration, softening point, marshall stability

Abstract

Fulfillment of drinking water needs in Bangko Pusako, Rimba Melintang and Tanah Melawan Subdistricts in Rokan Hilir Regency still relies from bottled water, boreholes, plumbing, river water and springs and rainwater, where the quality and quantity of these sources are not guaranteed. In 2016 drinking water needs amounted to 226 liters / second and will reach 312.5 liters / second in 2036, so that it is necessary to plan the installation of a drinking water production unit that can meet the drinking water needs of the region for the next 20 years with raw water coming from the Rokan River. Based on mass balance analysis, units obtained that are able to process raw water with quality according to PERMENKES number 492 in 2010. The planned processing units are intake, pre-sedimentation, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection and neutralization.Keywords: Rokan Hilir, Production Unit, Water requirements, Water Treatment, Rokan River

Abstract

Biodiesel is one of alternative energy which replace the fossil fuel as the product of transesterification of vegetable plants. Whole this time, the process of making biodiesel using homogeous catalyst NaOH or KOH which produce soap and hard to separate biodiesel product using catalyst as its disadvantages. Therefore, by using heterogen catalyst, researcher start to develop it using catalyst geopolymer in the oil of calophylluminophyllum seed. The objective of this research is making biodiesel from the oil of calophylluminophyllum seed, knowing the influence of geopolimer ctalyst toward the number of biodiesel that has been produced, knowing the best condition of making biodiesel and also identifying the charateristics of calophylluminophyllum seed oil. This research starts from raw material preparation which include mixing, heating, and refinement. Furthermore, degumming the calophylluminophyllum seed oil to remove impurities contained in the oil. The transesterification process of oil has done in different level of speed i.e 200, 300, 400 rpm respectively and various catalyst concentration i.e 1%, 2%, 3% respectively at methanol of oil mole ratio 9: 1 and the reaction temperature of 60 °C and a reaction time of 120 minutes. From the result was obtained that the highest biodiesel of 92,14% at the stiring speed 400 rpm with 2% concentration geopolymercatalyst. Physical characterization have done such as density 878 kg/m3, kinematic viscosity3,67 mm2/s, acid number 0,46mg-KOH/g biodiesel and flash point 137°C respectively according to the standard of Indonesian biodiesel (SNI 7182:2015).Keywords :Biodiesel, calohyllum inophyllum seed oil, geopolymer

Abstract

Hybrid turbine is a combination of two types of turbines into the one. The purpose of combining turbines is to improve the performance of each turbine. In this study, propeller turbine and venturi turbine are combined into the one. Energy ball wind turbine is placed in front of propeller turbine. The diameter used by propeller turbine is 200 cm with NREL S833 airfoil and venturi diameter of 50 cm. The number of propeller turbine consist of blades of 3 pieces and 5 venturi pieces. Then the pitch angle variation on the propeller turbine blade is 30º, 45º and 60º with a wind speed of 2.5 m/s to 5 m/s. From the result test show the addition of a large pitch angle reduce the power generated by the turbine, the addition of a venturi turbine to the propeller turbine can increase power at every pitch angle variation. The highest power is a produced by hybrid turbines with a pitch angle variation of 30º that is equal to 0.655 watts.Keywords : Propeller turbine, hybrid turbine, energy ball wind turbine

Abstract

The aims of this paper is to examine the influence of the landuse changing towards traffic generation on Hangtuah street’s corridor in Pekanbaru city. The object that to attained are to identification the condition of landuse and transportation , calculate the traffic flow (traffic counting) for each landuse, analyze the development of the landuse, analyze the trip generation, and analyze the influence of the landuse changing towards traffic generation on Hangtuah street’s corridor in Bencah Lesung subdistrict in Pekanbaru city.The research method that used in this paper is descriptive that identification landuse condition and transportation at Hangtuah street. Then, performed analysis of landuse’s development, analysis of generation and attraction, and analysis of the influence of landuse towards generation and attraction of Street of Hangtuah street in Bencah Lesung Subdistrict in Pekanbaru city.Keywords: landuse, traffict, transportation
