Abstract

Transformer oil is one of the important components of a transformer, because in addition to its function as an insulator which provides the function of inter-winding insulation inside the transformer, as well as the cooling medium to absorb heat from the transformer core and transformer winding. The content of gases dissolved in transformer oil indirectly indicate the condition of the transformer itself. Therefore, analysis of transformer oil or Diissolved Gas analys (DGA) needs to be done to determine the type of interference that may occur in the transformer, which can be directly carried out an action and special attention to the transformer before the condition worsens. The final task is about the maintenance actions that must be done to the results of gas content dissolved in transformer insulating oil. This research was conducted by comparing some methods of interpretation that is TDCG, Duval triangle, and Duval pentagon. The test sample used for analysis is the transformer oil samples at some substations owned by PT. PLN (Persero) P3BS UPT Pekanbaru, Riau. The results showed that increasing the amount of dissolved combustible gas in transformer oil will result in reduced performance of the transformer. This would explain that the transformer has impaired which can be disturbances thermal (thermal fault), partial discharge, or arcing.  Keywords: transformer oil, DGA, Duval method, Disruption

Abstract

Bioplastics are an alternative for conventional plastics that are biodegradable because it can be made from natural materials that can be decomposed by the environment. Bioplastics can be made from sago starch and filler of graphene oxide because its availability and it can improve the mechanical properties of bioplastics. This study aims to make bioplastic from sago starch with the addition of graphene oxide while studying the effect of adding graphene oxide and stirring time for bioplastic mechanical properties. The making of bioplastic was performed by using solution intercalation method while the graphene oxide was synthesized by using Hummers modification method and it produced the dispersed of graphene oxide in the solution. The analyzes were graphene oxide crystallization test, mechanical properties test (elongation and modulus young), morphological test, functional group qualitative test of bioplastic composite and graphene oxid and bioplastic biodegrability. The result of bioplastic tensile strength analysis showed that the addition of graphene oxide and stirring time influenced the bioplastic mechanical properties where the highest tensile strength was 4.018 Mpa for 15% graphene oxide with 50 minute and bioplastic can be naturally degraded 70-80% within 8 days with the highest hydrophobicity of 88.7%. Bioplastic morphological analyzes have shown that 50 minutes stirring time has evenly distributed the filler.Keywords: bioplastic, graphene oxide, hummers, solution intercalation, sago starch.

Abstract

Research on the use of plastic waste has been carried out in recent years, but the weak adhesivity between the surface of the plastic and cement make a drastic reduction in compressive strength in the cement-plastic mixture. To overcome this problem, treatment iscarried out on the plastic that has been chopped using 4% NaOCl and 5% NaOH to convert the polymeric hydrocarbon groups in the plastic into R-COOH which is more reactive to thecement material. In this research nine solid bricks are evaluated to study four ABS material composition using pra-treatment 4% NaOH and 5%NaOCl, and four without pra-treatment.Those four ABS material compositions total are 0; 0,2; 0,4; kg. The results showed substitution of 0.4 kg ABS with treatment succeeded in reducing the dry weight of the block by 21% and increasing the compressive strength of the block by 30%. This shows theresulting brick has better quality than the brick without substitution.Keywords : ABS substitution, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, solid brick, recycled plastic

Abstract

Waste problem is a complicated problem in Indonesia; aseptic packaging waste is one of them. This study student tried to recycle paper carton aseptic packaging into paper art. The purpose of this study was to learn how variations of adhesive influence raw material mass in the process of aseptic packaging waste into art paper, to analize the quality of the result on its grammature test, tearing strength index, tensile strength index, and the bursting strength index Student used 50gr of raw material mass and variations of 5%, 7.5% and 10% of PVAC adhesive. The results of generated paper art then tested in the laboratory of paper to determine its Grammature, Tearing strength index, Tensile strength index, and the Bursting strength index. The best results for Grammature determination at 10% adhesive concentration is 352 g. The best result for Tensile strength index at 10% adhesive concentration is. 7.56mN. The best results for Tearing strength index 10% adhesive concentration is 4776 kN / m and the best results for Bursting strength index is 545.84 kPa. Overall the paper art produced, including in both categories in accordance with the quality standards of food packaging cardboard and paper.Keywords: Aseptic packaging waste, PVAC adhesive, Recycling, Paper art

Abstract

This study aims to develop a dynamometer to develop a sliding adaptive vertical engine on SMAW welding with 1G / 1F position. Development of sliding adaptive vertical machine includes design, manufacture, testing of sliding adaptive vertical machine, and testing of welding results with tensile test and penetrant test. The parameters used in this study were using V and fillets, 80 - 90 volts, rotary speed of 44 - 60 rpm stepper motor and 60˚ - 65 sudut electrode angle. Specimen A angle 60˚ - 65˚ current 90 rounds 57 rpm has a tensile strength of 349.91 MPa, whereas specimen B with angle 60˚ - 65˚, current 100 and round 60 rpm has a tensile strength of 304.52 MPa. For the test results using the penetrant showed the specimen C is better than the specimen D.Keywords :Welding, Tensile Strengh, Sliding Adaptive Vertical, SMAW.

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify soil stabilization effect on mechanical properties of concrete with high mud content. According to SNI 03-2461-2002 code, the fine aggregate should must contain mud more than 5% of as weight. In this research, soil stabilization of 1% from mud weight was added to concrete mixtures. The percentages of mud added to the concrete mixture in this research were 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 23%. A 15x30 cm cylinder is curing in normal water for 28 days to study its compressive strength, tensile strength and elasticity modulus with expectation of 20 MPa in the concrete quality. The result of the research shows an optimum increase in the compressive strength to the concrete with 20% variation mud content. By adding the soil stabilization, compressive strength of the concrete is increased by 30.14% compared to a concrete without the soil stabilization. The value of tensile strength of concrete with 5% variation mud content added soil stabilization lower by 2.60% compared to a variations of a concrete without mud content. The value of the elasticity modulus of concrete with 23% variation mud content added soil stabilization lower by 152.34% compared to a variations of a concrete without mud content. This research concludes that a high mud level concrete with soil stabilization has a higher concrete quality compared to the a high mud level concrete without soil stabilization.Keywords : Compressive strength, tensile strength, elasticity modulus, soil stabilization, mud

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the use of LPG household fuels in WP II dan WP III Pekanbaru city. Random sampling method. total sample is 267 families. this study uses descriptive analysis that contains secondary data, study of literature, and primary data. WP II and WP III Pekanbaru City that use LPG fuel respectively at 99% and 98%. Abstract

Solar dryer is a drying foodstuffs, agricultural products and fishery products with the aim of accelerate the drying process using solar energy. This research is aims to find out the performance of the dryer with heat storage on the reduction of the water content of the material. This tool is combined with a heat storage system using a split stone material or so-called rock beds as a sensible heat storage medium to dry raja sere bananas. The drying process is carried out for 8 hours with direct heating from solar thermal energy and continued for 4 hours by utilizing heat from the heat storage system. The test parameters include the intensity of solar radiation, temperature, and the decrease of material mass. The average solar intensity received by the solar collector is 882.39 W/m2, with an average material temperature of 34.02°C. The highest temperature on rack 8 is 35.09oC and the lowest temperature in rack 1 is 33.25oC. The highest rock temperature of 43.94oC with thermal energy is stored at 2311.87 kJ. Percentage reduction of material mass by 39.59% with final moisture content of 45% wet basis.Keywords: Solar Dryer, Heat Storage, Mass Reduction.

Abstract

Generally, the electrical fault that occurs at substations forms a phase-to-ground short circuit fault. The fault currents flowing on the earthing grid can different result in voltage gradients at the ground level around the substation. The purpose of this study to evaluate the earthing system at the substation of Batu Besar, and to find out whether grid earth resistance meets standards. Then, to protect people who walk or touch equipment of electric shock. The earthing system needs to be evaluated in each period to get the touch voltage and step voltage that conforms to safety and security standards. This research method is to collect parameters ρ, ρs, hs, A, LT, and h, which are calculated using the formula of grid earth resistance, touch voltage, and step voltage. Later the results of calculations, analysis, and compare using the IEEE Std 80-2013 standard. Based on the analysis results obtained grid earthing resistance of 0.62 Ω, touch voltage of 737.65 V and step voltage of 2458.43 V. The results of the earthing system evaluation at the substation of Batu Besar meet the standards of IEEE Std 80-2013.Keyword : grid earthing system, touch voltage, step voltage
