Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the most important and often used energy in life. Therefore to keep the availability of electricity, it takes a power company that will manage the electricity needs. One of the things that affect to the reliability of the equipment is need to know the configuration of the electrical equipment protective device. As known that transmission line is very vulnerable to lightning strikes that produce a traveling wave. It can enter the substation and make the existing equipment in danger. Based on the problems we need to analyze the configuration and performance of the arrester against the impulse lightning. This study was conducted by simulating lightning strikes on equipment using ATP-EMTP software by varying the strike and the distance of the arrester protection for protected transformer in order to get the correct distance to minimize the optimum voltage. The result of the simulation by varying the distance from 3 m, 6.7 m, 9 m, 15 m, 21 m, 27 m, 28.5 m, the safer distance and the smaller peak voltage which is protected by the arrester to the transformer is 21 meters from the current variation at 10 kA, 30 kA, and 60 kA where the lowest peak voltage of phases A, B, and C are compared with other distances. Then the distance 21 m better than the distance of 6.7 m used by PT.PLN (Persero) Garuda Sakti Substation.Keywords: Arrester, ATP-EMTP, Arrester configuration.

Abstract

Natural rubber is an natural polymer that is potentially used as n asphalt additive. This research aims to determine influence of dry rubber content and amount of field latex to asphalt modified properties. In this study, has been used are latex with 22% of dry rubber content (non centrifugated) and 56% of dry rubber content (centrifugated). The sample made by adding field latex in to asphalt at 160ºC with 20 minute of blending time. The concentrations of latex were 5.0%, 7.5%, 10.0%, 12.5% and 15.0% w/w in the mixture. The samples were tests included penetration, softening point, marshall stability, and penetration after loosing weight, with standard of Spesifikasi Umum Binamarga Divisi 6.2010. The result showed that dry rubber content and amount of latex affects the value of test parameters asphalt modified. The best result is obtained from adding 10% w/w non centrifugated latex with penetration, softening point, stability, and penetration after TFOT, respected are 56 dmm, 58ºC, 1554 kg and 55 dmm. The result of this study indicated that addition of non centrifugated latex can improve asphalt properties.Keywords: asphalt modified, asphalt properties, dry rubber content, field lateks, polymer

Abstract

Water consumption is very high in industrial pulp and paper. In addition, water also ranked at third for the world wide used. Low COD ratio (0.3) and biodegradability around 0.5 in wasted is considered ideal. One of the alternative way which is Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) able to degrade harmful organism who less active in the normal degradation process. Active radicals in AOP act produced as oxidizing agents to mineralize complex chemical substances in waste. One of the active radicals, which is sulfate radical (SO42-) has a high oxidation potential of 2.5 to 3.1 V. Several studies showed that radical sulfates can be produced by catalytic oxidation process, such as combination of Peroxymonosulfate with homogeneous metal ion catalyst (Fe2+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Ag+1, Cr3+, Zn2+). In this study, AOP method Peroxymonosulfate which was activated with the catalyst α-Mn2O3@α-MnO2-500 were used to treat COD content in organic waste water from pulp and paper industry. The α-Mn2O3@α-MnO2-500 catalyst was produced from 1:3 molar potassium permanganate and maleic acid that calcined at 500 ºC. These catalysis were characterized by XRD, BET and FESEM. From the XRD analysis obtained a combined peak between α-MnO2 and α-Mn2O3 are comparable with JCPDS standard. From the FESEM analysis, the crystal size of the nanorod obtained is around 18-60 nm in width and 47-185 nm in length. In BET analysis, the surface area is 3.765 m2/g. The degradation of COD content, appear in 50ºC, at retention time of 240 minute, with concentrations of 0.4 g/L catalyst dose and 1.6 g/L Peroxymonosulfate (67,52%).Key word: AOP, COD, Peroxymonosulfate, Waste water, Catalyst

Abstract

Concrete is the most favourite material used in construction. Concrete has some advantages, but in some cases, concrete also has drawbacks. One of the drawbacks founds during the use of concrete is that its tensile strength is low when the tensile strength of concrete is exceeded the cracks will exist. The inovation to solve this is theintroduction of self healing concrete that utilize bacteria bacillus subtilis in a concrete mix. This bacteria can repair cracks in concrete. In this research, bacteria bacillus subtilis were used with different concentration that is 105 cells/20 ml, 105 cells/25 ml and 105 cells/30 ml. Mechanical properties test carried in this research, namelycompressive strenght and flexural strength. The test consist of two loading types namely broken cracks where the concrete was loaded until it fully destroyed and loading up until initial cracks occured. The test was carried after 28 and 56 days of curing. Theresult shown that the concrete with 105 cells/20 ml concentration of bacillus subtilis had the highest compressive strength with increasement by 28,70 % and 34,50 % than normal concrete at 28 and 56 days. Abstract

LTE technology is a technological evolution of the UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) on the three-generation (3G). Mobile telecommunications service providers have the opportunity to use technology through frequency refarming. Before applying the LTE technology, cell planning based on capacity and coverage need calculated in orde to calculated the number of site eNodeB. This research aims to provide of placement site and the number of sites required for the implementation of eNodeB of frequency 1850MHz. Calculation the number of site eNodeB is based on capacity dimensioning and coverage planning. The results showed the number of sites required in the Sub-district Bukit Raya Pekanbaru is 31 site.Keyword: LTE, Cell Planning, Mapinfo, Capacity Planning, Coverage Planning.

Abstract

Pelalawan currently does not have facilities that can accommodate the visitors in large quantities to conduct an activity in the form of exhibitions or promotions for the introduction and develop the potential of the area. Developments in the world of trade, industry, tourismand agriculture are the points for development that bring foreign exchange in Pelalawan. The presence of Pelalawan Convention and Exhibition Centre in hopes of fulfilling the needs ofthe event organizers will be wider place, add value to the community and as a place to gather business people and provide facilities For Convention and exhibition activities. The researchmethods on this design are by conducting data collection, library studies and empirical studies. The concept of the conception based on the observation method of the design function is the Convention as a symbol of mutual agreement in cooperation relationship both parties. This building is designed with the approach of contemporary architecture in order to display the imagery and identity of Pelalawan regency with an attractive design to be a symbol of the grandeur of the building Pelalawan Convention and Exhibition Centre. The main facilities of this building are the Convention hall, Exhibition hall, as a place to gatherthe visitors and business people. Abstract

Every architect have their own characteristics on design; simplicity and pay attention in environment and using an advance technology. Norman Foster is one of the architect in designing by using technology and utilizing nature for energy saving. Development Research is a systematic development effort towards designing, developing and evaluating programs, processes and learning products to find the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. In Pangkalan from the wood raw, it produces a large of wood waste. To reduce the waste, it can be utilize into a useful products, so it was a needed to build a development research center for wood derivatives. The concept design is annual rings, wich is the circle continue, to increase along with the age of the plants. Just like Norman Foster, in process of design about how the design can be sustain and how will responsive to the natural surroundings.This design will be the place for utilitize the waste by using techno;ogy in process of marking.Keyword: Development Research Center, Wood Derivatives Production, Annual Rings

Abstract

The production process at PT. Lembah Karet which processes raw rubber into crumb rubber is divided into wet and dry production stages. Which in the production process produces noise from the use of machines. Noise arising from the use of machines unwittingly will cause disruption of bodily functions in workers, especially in hearing loss. The purpose of this research is to know the intensity of noise resulting from the use of machines, noise mapping, evaluation of noise intensity, exposure time and noise control efforts. In this research measurements of temperature, wind speed and noise intensity using a Sound Level Meter (SLM). Abstract

Overcome the use of fossil fuel based power plants is improving annually and waste in Indonesia palm that cannot be used again, it is the basis for this research through the planning and manufacturing of wind turbine blades of elementary substance composite fibers of empty palm. As for the wind turbine blades designed to be adapted for areas with low wind speeds, the blade is made with an inverse taper type that can convert wind energy into a rotor round with a large torque. The type of airfoil used is NACA 4415 with increasing the chord thickness percentage by 30%. The result of the calculation, obtained radius blade 1,1m and hub 0,2m with the number of blades 5. In the making of blades, the fibre of empty palm is given alkaline treatment with a 3% NaOH rate of 2 hours. Composites made with 5% fiber content of epoxy resin with the length of fiber used is 30mm. Based on the aerodynamic simulation results using Qblade applications, the blade can generate 318W of power at 7m/s wind speeds with blade rotation speed 120rpm. Abstract

Electricity has been used by industry, offices, as well as for the general public and individuals that is greatly improved in demand source of theelectricity can be obtained from solar energy converted into electrical energy by utilizing solar panels. The solar power can be utilized as an alternative electric energy, in utilizing this solar energy is by using a photovoltaic process,which converts directly solar energy into electrical energy.An automatic sun tracking for solar power plants can be designed to meet the needs of large-scale households which people can be easity to use itstechnology, This technology can be designed using some basic instruments such as solar panels. LDR (Light Dependent Resistor), Arduino microcontroller, motor AC and Motor Drivers. Some components are assembled and programmed into a sun tracking device that is called sun tracking,In this research the sun tracking used an automatic motion which following the direction of sunlight using arduino uno brain. The sunlight on LDR sensor and direct motor driver gave the command ‘’On’’ to a DC motor that would move the solar panel to always perpendicular to the arrival of sunlight. Therefore, the solar panels with automatic suntracking system in this research is obtained a control system that can work maximally in the process of controlling and revealed the maximum current.Keywords : Microcontroller, LDR, DC Motor, Solar Panel,Photovoltaics
