Abstract

The use of non-linear loads are increasingly widespread. The non-linear load can cause distortion of the voltage wave and current wave. This waveform distortion commonly called harmonics. The problems that can be caused by harmonics include increased energy losses, overheating and low work factor. In practice the presence of harmonics is carrying losses on a variety of tools, one of which is the distribution transformer. In this research designed to determine the harmonic simulation in every winding connection. Software used in this research was ETAP 11.0. Results from this research indicate a winding connection most good to be used in transformer based on the value of THD.Keywords: Harmonic current, Transformer, THD, ETAP, Winding Connection

Abstract

Pulp and paper industries growth significantly especially in Indonesia that in their operations generate potential waste to contaminate the environment. Type of waste that generated by pulp and paper industries mostly liquid that could be processed in wastewater treatment installation (WWTI). WWTI still generate amount volume of sludge waste, so it need to be in special handling. One of the alternative that can be reduce volume of sludge waste is anaerobic hybrid bioreactor. This technology use suspended and settle microorganism that integrated in bioreactor system. This research aim to determine the influence of hydraulic retention time (HRT) toward alkalinity, volatile acid and pH in processing of sludge waste from pulp and paper wastewater treatment installation using anaerobic hybrid bioreactor. This research start from seeding time that 100 ml/day sludge waste added to 1 Litre of cows’s feces extract for 10 days. Next stage is acclimatisation with throw and put methode and continued with start up where sludge waste flewed in to bioreactor with 5 days HRT. Last stage is variate HRT for 4 days; 3 days and 2 days. Result of this experiment show that average optimum pH operations is 6,6. Alkalinity 2010 mg/L otherwise volatile acid concentration is 43 mg/L. Abstract

Ethanol consumption of the world for a variety of uses has increased very significantly in recent years. Therefore it is necessary to alternate sources of raw materials to manufacture bioethanol and bioethanol production can be increased. Nypa sap is one of potential materials to be processed into bioethanol. This research was conducted the pilot scale fermentation of nypa sap, using Tween 80 and ergosterol as suplement to obtain high concentration of bioethanol as well as prevent osmosis in cells. This work is aimed to study of bioethanol pilot scale production from nypa sap, to determine effect of fermentation time to bioethanol and to obtain maximum conditions on the process. And to determine effect of Tween 80 and ergosterol. Fermentation was conducted in 70 L fermentor having variations of fermentation time such as 24; 36; 48; 60; 72; 84 and 96 hours respectively, variations addition of Tween 80 of 250; 375; and 500 ml respectively, and ergosterol of 25; 37,5; and 50 gr. Stirring speed of 200 rpm and temperature of fermentation at room temperature (25 - 300C). Ethanol concentration was analyzed by using Gas Chromatography. Tween 80 and ergosterol effect on the activity of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in converting nypa sap into bioethanol. The process of fermentation maximum conditions indicated in the addition of Tween 80 [375 ml] and ergosterol [37,5 g] at the time of 84 hours having the initial sugar concentration of 258,641 mg/ml. Concentration bioethanol obtained in this condition at 16,602% (v/v) or 131.040 mg/ml.Keywords: Bioethanol, Ergosterol, Nypa sap, saccharomyces cerevisiae, Tween 80

Abstract

Design software interface controlling traffic light intersection ATMega8535 five-basic microcontroller is design to facilitate operator traffic light. This software design involves two different software,software Visual Basic 6.0 and CodeVision avr, Visual Basic 6.0 as a software interface that will send data and CodeVision avr as recipient of the data that is in its hardware. Sending and receiving data here using the existing serial port in komputere that use serial usb rs232 which serves to connect or bridge the respective software sendiri.Pengiriman data through the interface that Visual Basic 6.0, this shipment using the DO pin as data transmission (RX) which in usb serial and in ATMega8535 and received using D1 pin that serves as a data receiver (TX) .Each pin is connected using the USB serial rs232. This method allows an operator to use and change the time when need it. Because the software interface gives the ease of service at rush hour or operarator like solid hours already available, and only enter a number already there dikolom disediakan.Perpindahan in this column automatically, and a solid hour or busy can also be arranged according to the wishes of the operator.Keywords: interface, microcontroller ATMega8535, usb serial

Abstract

The distribution system is an important part of the electrical energy distribution activities as directly connected to the customers. Therefore, the distribution system is always required to have good reliability. One way to increase reliability is using recloser. Optimal placement of recloser will be able to maximize reliability. The author used a genetic algorithm method in determining the optimal position of recloser. Objective function is combining SAIFI and SAIDI. SAIFI and SAIDI are calculated using section technique method. Simulation calculations using MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory) programming. Testing program conducted on radial distribution network. The result is recloser position within 0.157 km from existing recloser. Reduction of SAIFI after the addition of recloser is 13.23%. Abstract

Household electricity customer is a sector that contribute significantly to affect the high peak loads. This is because in this period people began to turn on the lights, television and other electrical equipment to run its activities which affects the availability of electrical energy. One effort that can be done on the condition that the limited electricity supply that is by saving electrical energy usage by implementing peak clipping and strategicconservation of reducing electricity consumption at times of peak load use power tools are more energy efficient. This research explores the benefits of the implementations of peak clipping and strategic conservation to changes in load pattern and the potency in energy savings. The analysis was focused on the household load of television in Pekanbaru. Based on the calculation and analysis, with application of peak clipping and strategic conservation on the television can increase daily load factor to 12,87%. The potency of energy savings is estimated at 43,99% per day of work.Keywords : load pattern, energy savings, peak clipping, strategic conservation

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain the optimum setting and should be of 30 MVA transformer protection system at Gardu Induk Batu Besar PT B'RIGHT PLN Batam. This study uses the method of observation, which was to determine the object to be studied to make the setting protection 30 MVA transformer in Gardu Induk Batu Besar PT. B'RIGHT PLN Batam. With the data obtained as one line distribution network diagram (SUTM) Gardu Induk Batu Besar PT. B'RIGHT PLN Batam along with data CB, transformers, relays OCR specifications andGFR and tuning the existing condition of the relay, and additional data that support for this thesis as the daily load data and others. From the calculation results with existing data in the field is still in appropriate conditions (the difference is not too much), so that it can be concluded that the overall setting of the OCR and GFR that is in the field is still in goodcondition. OCR for setting relays and GFR in the feeder has approximately the same value where TMS for OCR and GFR respectively 0,15s 0,134s in calculations and in the field toOCR, and 0,104s in calculations and in the field to the GFR 0,1s , But there setting relay is no longer appropriate that the relay setting and GFR OCR on incoming side, where TMS andTMS = 1,5s = 1,2s in other words if there is a short circuit fault then the relay will take a long time to work with the value of t = 5,255s. So setting relays OCR and GFR incoming sidethat is in the field must be set back.Keywords: protection setting, OCR, GFR

Abstract

Crosswind is a very dangerous if the wind hit motorcycle. Moreover, it happened on the bridge. Strong wind warning devices are needed in order to give warning to themotorcyclist. Anemometer is a measuring instrument which can measure wind speed. The type of this anenemometer is bowl type. Rotary encoder proximity required to provide windspeed input and then it will be processed into the microcontroller ATMega 8. And ATMega will process all the data based on program in the microcontroller. The program is BASCOM AVR. From the data processing will be displayed to the LCD in the form of wind speed data. And the result of this processing will also be sent to the LEDs and buzzer alarm. The red LED will turn on when the wind speed is >22 knots as well as the buzzer sounded and thegreen LED will turn on when the wind speed is <22 knots. The strong wind warning devicesrequire a power supply. The power supply used is a line to line voltage of PLN. But sometimes, the outages caused strong winds warning device is not working. So we need abackup power supply that comes from the battery, so that strong wind warning devices can work continuously. The second power supply is controlled by a relay which is the function as a transfer switch between the power supply to be used. Main power supply output voltage of 12 V and 5 V with a maximum current of 3 A and pull out the battery charger voltage 13.20 V.Keywords: Anemometer, Bascom AVR,power supply catu daya, power supply, charger battery.

Abstract

Increasing oil prices and global warming, many people think to developed energy technology. One of them is the bidirectional DC-DC / DC-AC converter. Bidirectional that mean the converter can work in both directions. In this journal, the writer proposed bidirectional DC/AC inverter. Bidirectional inverter is an inverter that works in both directions. Which can convert AC input into a DC output or otherwise. In this paper discusses a single phase AC induction machine can rotates when fed DC voltage from the battery. And at the time of Induction Machines apply a voltage from utility (PLN), the battery can be charged. Bidirectional switching inverter using PWM mode. Abstract

Reliability is the ability of a system or component performs all the functions needed specific time period. Reliability Networking Local Area Network (LAN) is determined from the failure rate. This journal discusses Reliability Networking LAN analysis based on the value of the MTTF. This failure occurs on a physical disorder that includes transmission side include electric, ups, switches, transmission (fiber optic), converters, patch cords, connectors and others. The method that used in analyzing reliability is Distribusi Weibull. The calculation method of the Weibull distribution parameters using LSM. From the calculation, the shape parameter value is 1.9664 and scale parameter value is 3.4039. MTTF value of 0.9936 months, the uptime value of 11.0664 month, reliability value of 0.9222.Keywords : LAN, reliability, distribusi weibull.
