Abstract

Santo Antonius  Purbayan  church  is  the oldestchurch  building  in  Surakarta.  This  heritage building of  DutchColonial  period  was built  in 1916  and  still standing  to this day, and  did not experience  much  changes  in the  architecture  and interior  aspects.  The building is  a historical evidence of an event that  has  the value of  architectural  and  interior.  The  stylescombination  of  space  forming  elements  and  transition  elements in  the  interior  is  very variative, that are  Art  &  Craft,  ArtNouveau,  Art  Deco,  Nieuwe  Bouwen,  and  also to  the European Classical  style  such as  the  church  building at  the first in Europethat  are  Early Christian  style,  Romanesque  and  Gothic.  The combination  of  various  styles  could not be separated  fromaspects of  function  and  meaning  of  a  church  and  has beenadapted to the local climate and conditions.

Abstract

Children in the street is one of the social problems that exist in Indonesia, especially in Surabaya, one of the major cities with high population . Poverty is the main cause that forces children to seek income and living on the streets to help the family’s economy . Street environment is possible to bring negative impacts on children who lives in the street. The education center of children in the street with Green Design concept aims to facilitate street children in order to get an education and a decent life like the kids in general through interior design with green design concept applied in order to build and develop the nation . Design methods that will be used is an analytical method to conduct field surveys and direct interviews to find out the problems, then collect data, and analyze the data as a basis for designing the interior with standard literature. Interior design of street children’s education center with Green Design concept is not only the result of social problem solving that occurs but also as a life-support and the learning process for the better.

Abstract

Flatpack furniture is disassembly furniture  and ready to be used with thin parts such as multiplex, scrap metal, cardboard, and so then packaged neatly and facilitate the delivery, this furniture was introduced in 1951 by Erie J. Sauder.In library room needed a private space especially for the readers, but it should be noted that library have a limited space.With efficient application of  Flatpack makes it easy to be included and be moved to the library room is quite limited.

Abstract

Y.B. Mangunwijaya is known from his architectural and interior designed with emphasis in wastu citra, a design that fulfill the function of the building also the beauty which is created with the truth. Among of his works, the dominant of his design are the worship spaces. Santa Perawan Maria di Fatima church; interior relief in Panti Semedi chapel; Santa Maria Assumpta church; Angin Mammiri seminary; Santo Albertus Magnus Jetis church and chapel are chosen as the sample. This study used qualitative methods. All data were found with literature studies and interviews. The function of this study are to know the concept background and the application of Y.B. Mangunwijaya’s concept in this worship space. The results of this study indicate that the interior design style of worship space that Y.B. Mangunwijaya’s design relate with the value of Vatican II’s, churches that open to the world. Also Y.B. Mangunwijaya uses diaspora church concept or churches that relate with Java cultural value, which is a new idea results from the mix between Y.B. Mangunwijaya’s background as an architect with an emphasis on wastu citra, wastu widya, and the values of the Christianity as well as Y.B. Mangunwijaya’s understanding of the traditional architectural style Java that is harmony with the natural environment. With this, Christianity value becomes harmony with the culture surround it.

Abstract

Acceptance of Christianity in Indonesia, especially in East Java in the 1800s made GKJW (Jawi Wetan Christian Church) has a different liturgy and buildings with other Christian churches in Indonesia. In this study will be discussed how the influence and embodiment blend of Javanese culture with Christian culture that looks physically in the GKJW Wiyung Building, with uses descriptive qualitative method. And the results of the research will demonstrate the fusion of cultures are in this church.

Abstract

Jember is a regency that have a lot of tourism objects and culture that needs to be introduced through Indonesia. Rembangan is one of potential tourism object that needs to be managed. This Unique Dutch Heritage Architecture and Interior  Building is historical. Based on research, Rembangan has been experienced some renovation for a few times, but Rembangan itself had not has a fixed form of building. Jember is famous with a fertile soil and abundant agriculture which becomes one of appeal tourism attraction. The people’s modern lifestyle has also required a changing of the activities pattern and interior needs, which caused there is a needs of facility replenishment that gives comfort and gratification. The facility will not only focus on its function but also from the aesthetic and culture application. The coherency of the function, aesthetic and culture will create an appropriate living environment. The concept application “Luxury in Farming” that gives luxury and farming environment which also the constitute of the soul of the Jember resident to applied in a space create a Rembangan tourism object will be the best hostelry in Jember town.

Abstract

Elementary School which applied Montessori system for children is one of the design project for intending to develop chils’s interest and talent are packed in teaching and learning activities that are educational and fun. Considering elementary school to be main major for child, of course that will bring some impression in the  process of child intelligence. Therefore, the integration of the formal and non formal education system will be special characteristic that may support child in teaching dan learning activity. Design arragement impresses dynamic in order to make children more enthusiastic and active in all processes. Absolutely it would be relevant to the needs of child around the age of 6-12 years, either the condition dan character of the child. Design methods using qualitative applied starting from exploration to final design that can accommodate the facilities needed by the child in accordance with the Montessori method.

Abstract

First of all, the palace is the official residence of the king (a head of state or a president) and his family. As we know, that the king is the supreme ruler of the kingdom (usually acquired as inheritance); a person, who is in charge to rule a nation or state. So, the place where he lives should be a majestic place. Many palaces anywhere but it impossible for palaces to have the same design and form.  Similarly, East Nusa Tenggara in the ancient time, it was well known as a region with kingdom era. It was recognized by an ancient buildings, which were occupied by the ancient king as his home that called the Palace. Those buildings do not have the same form and design. Thus, this study will examine the form and function of the space as this study is expected to broaden the public’s insight about the form and function of an existing palace.

Abstract

Cafe & Lounge as a place to gather together, enjoy eating and drinking also doing a variety of activities become an essential place in the life of todays society. Relish Cafe & Lounge is designed to be a public place that can accommodate the community to meet the need for socializing, a comfortable place to enjoy food and beverage offerings, and for hobby activities such as reading books, events photography, as well as to do the job like a business agreement or deal and so on. Attractive design, capable of attracting visitors to come in, therefore therefore, the modern gothic style design chosen because it has elements of a timeless classic but still keep up with the times. The concept offered is Rose Garden, which has meaning beauty, timeless, balance, secret, mysterious and romantic feel also many variations or options that are offered to visitors. Concept and design style is applied both in the use of chandeliers for lighting, wallpaper with roses pattern, checkerboard pattern and rose motifs on the floor, window and wall framelis pointed arch shaped, carved gothic oak leaf foliage, red, purple, black , and a cream colors is applied to the furniture, also  other decorative elements in the interior and the interior design of the Relish Cafe & Lounge in order to attract customers to come in and enjoy the facilities inside.

Abstract

Bon Ami RestaurantSurabayais a building that exchange function from a house to a restaurant and it doesn’t change much in architectural and interior. This thesis aim to know, description of applying design style from its dining furniture. The research result shows that the restaurant furnitures have influence from baroque, art and craft, art nouveau, art deco.
