Abstract

Nowadays, cooking is not only favored by adults but children at an early age also begin to develop their talents in cooking. Surabaya is still lack of available places for cooking courses for children. Learning to cook at an early age can be useful to develop children’s skills and creativity. The design of the cooking club aims to develop children’s talents and interest, packaged in educative and fun learning to cook. The cooking club will provide complete facilities ranging from education in cooking, nutrition information centers and restaurant, so adults can be attracted to visit. The method in this design consists of four stages, the first stage is Define (this is a stage of problem analysis and data collection), Ideate (in this stage, the idea of design would answer the problem), Prototype (this stage is a product design), test (this is the stage of design evaluation). The design concept used is creative and healthy smile, which can enhance children's creativity in learning how to cook healthily and happily.

Abstract

Paper waste is a commodity that is used by many people, especially in the academic environment of University, many students are using paper to support of their study activities, this causes a large amount of paper is thrown away after they finish their academic activities, therefore a lot of paper are not reused and become paper waste which is useless. In response to this problem, the researcher tries to utilize the paper waste in University to be reused using “Recycle” Method to turn paper waste into partition board to replace multiplex. This research used experimental research method to find a suitabl composition of specimens in order that the partition borad of the paper waste can be strong and stable to replace the use of multiplex in furniture.

Abstract

The economy and infrastructure development in Surabaya have resulted the high activity and mobility of people. Everything is demanded to be fast, flexible, efficient, and productive. Various needs of people arouses between the activities, including the need of wedding preparation. By prioritizing the fulfillment of function in an oriental concept wedding, remembering the low availability of wedding facility with the oriental atmosphere. This place have a lot of facilities such as lobby, consultation room, gallery, and Meeting area. The concept of Wedding center is Wu Xing.There are five elements inside Wu Xing, wood, fire, land, steel, and water. If all element become one and achieved the balance, the outcome will be a good energy. This Wedding center can be alternate place for couple to prepare their wedding in oriental style.

Abstract

Capsule hotel started to develop in Indonesia, especially East Java, as a new form of hotel innovation that was built by considering the demand increasement of affordable backpacker hotel and limited land. This type of hotel has a very practical concept that originally designed only for resting or sleeping. That is why the room’s size in capsule hotel are smaller than the average hotel room and almost all facilities that provided are public facilities. Those not so acceptable circumstances forced the user to adapt. Whiz Capsule Trawas, Tab Capsule Hotel, and My Studio Hotel was chosen because all of them are one of the best thriving capsule hotel in East Java. This research is done to analyze the influence of interior design towards user’s psychological based on Well-Designed Space aspect by Sally Agustin with qualitative descriptive methods. The result shows that all three capsule hotel in East Java are successful in giving positive influence in creating trust (safety), comfort, and giving the space experience

Abstract

On June 11, 2006, the Catholic Church officially establish the Regina Caeli Church that appears in modern design, in contrast to the general Catholic Church which is often depicted in a classical style. The Catholic Church is loaded with the use of symbols. This study examines the form and meaning of Saint Regina Caeli Catholic’ Church in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method, using descriptive analysis methods. Data collected by literature studies, observations and interviews. The results showed that each of forms that exist on every element in this church have aesthetic significance that create an atmosphere to users towards the image of the church as the House of God.

Abstract

Football is one of the sports that is loved by many people. Many fans of a club founded organizations in support of their beloved club. One of the clubs that have a lot of fans is Arsenal FC. In Indonesia, many fans have set up an organization called Arsenal Indonesia Supporter. Where they support Arsenal by watching alongside Arsenal's games and various other activities. But there's a lack of place to accommodate a wide range of activities of Arsenal Indonesia Supporter.

Abstract

This evaluation was conducted to determine the furniture design of Early Childhood Education School in Siwalankerto Surabaya based on curriculum applied in Indonesia. Study furniture is a resource that is directly related to the activity as well as children’s learning activities that took place in the classroom. In the design of furniture, there are several factors that need to be considered because it can affect the performance of its users. This research is conducted by using quantitative qualitative research approach which is expected to know all information from 5 schools of Early Childhood Education which have been traced one by one to get a proven. The results showed that some of the furniture that used by teachers and students in inside and outside the class in each school has a problem that is not much different related to the shape, material, color, finishing, security, and ergonomic so it can be suggested some solution in the use of furniture which is good for PAUD schools.

Abstract

Apartment is a type of resident space, that only takes a small space from the building itself. Living in an apartment is the most favorable lifestyle and is currently on demand by the modern society, in addition to maximizing the use of reducing land as well as the use of facilities that can be obtained from apartment occupancy. The Square Apartment is the apartment that will become my design site because of its close distance to Petra Christian University and high number of students who choose to live in The Square Apartments, the user data used is a students who have an apartment with a minimalist type, furniture that will be placed in the minimalist room will greatly affect the owner’s activity, comfort, and the appearance of the room itself, apartments with a minimalist style is usually lack of circulation due to the amount of furniture that is too much or the size of appropriate furniture, the dining room is the most often experienced circulation disturbance area, Therefore it needs furniture that can be folded to be more effective and efficient, therefore I designed folding chair that can be used by one person, it can changed its shape to be used for two people, then can be used as casual table, and can be saved when not in use. This is the right solution and innovation to answer the existing problem.

Abstract

The Interior design of "Arva School Of Fashion" Fashion School and Information Center in Surabaya is done to fulfill the needs of facilities in order to accommodate the increasing number of students in the institution. Besides, this design is also done in order to support its new program by creating an education facility which serves as an educative protocol as well as a commercial bridge for student’s work to the society. There is an information center facility included in this design as a form of institute’s awareness of the mode world. Center of superiority is chosen as the concept of this design with the means of having arva school of fashion as the top notch in the mode field and be acknowledged on the national and international level.

Abstract

The existing school interiors nowadays is more interesting and fun, because it is influenced by the current learning system which changes from teacher-oriented system to student-oriented system. This comprehension arises because of the idea that learning is a natural process of human beings, learning is only mediated by the teacher but overall it is a process that is natural, so it must emerge from within oneself. Therefore, the design of this educational furniture is one of the strategies to optimize the learning process. This problem formulation of this design is about how to design interactive and educative furniture which effectively and efficiently functions in Vision School classroom which has limited space, based on Montessori learning.The methods used to objectify the educational furniture are Montessori teaching methods and FUSE concept (Fun, Unique, Save, Educative). The purpose of this design is to provide a pleasant and comfortable interior space to optimize the teaching and learning process at Vision School Sidoarjo. The product of this thesis are, 3 educational furniture, each equipped with reading ,creativity ,and game feature which are based on Montessori learning to provide experience of fun learning. The benefit of this design is to provide insight in the field of education and furniture design about how to design educational furniture that helps to optimize the learning process of children using educational methods which is supported by FUSE concept.
