Abstract

Reading habit become more unpopular over time. It makes people become accustomed to browse their reference in the internet instead of looking for that in the books. People’s perspectives toward local library also affecting the existence of local library itself. Library are interpreted as a place with stacks of books which exist in a intrusive environment. This is also happened at Archive and Library Bureau of Moluccas. This library don’t have supportive facilities such as WiFi, photocopy machine and self reading spots for visitors. This prompted the author to re-design the library by adding some supporting facilities which are not yet available in this library. The author applying The Simple Flashy concept to this additional development. The concept using natural lighting as the main lighting source, applying dynamic layout, geometric formation and also Moluccas traditional icon as local identity of this library. This design are created with expectation to attract people to come to this library.

Abstract

Music booming across the country, including in Indonesia, especially in Surabaya. Many music schools that provide for the needs of the musicians in Surabaya. However, the licensed music school Yamaha Musik Indonesia most in demand because they have the international standards for curriculum use. The design of “House of Music” is intended to accommodate the educational needs of the musicians, especially in the area of West Surabaya. In addition, the application of the concept of Repetizione con Moto on the interior makes "House of Music" is different than the other Yamaha music school. This concept is the application of the tones are repeated only with different pitch. Given this concept, the musicians are expected to perform in the musical activity in the "House of Music" comfortably.

Abstract

Mall is one of the most accessible recreational places for all because of the variety of entertainment options. However, the lack of facilities that are accessible to the elderly plus their weak physical conditions caused the limitation of activities that they can do in the mall. The interior design of senior entertainment center in the mall in Surabaya can be an alternative option for recreational, educational, and socialization activity between elders. The design method used is Stanford School thinking of design method that has been developed. The method consists understand, observe, resolving needs, prototype, test, story telling, and business model. The design raised the Old but Gold concept which provides facilities to accommodate seniors’ activities, such as activity space, games, and exercise rooms with the aim of increasing happiness, socialization, and support good health both in body as well as their spirit.

In modern times, there are many organizations or agencies that put full concentration in children. Due to globalization, the parents have their own busy and in the end they did not have much time for children, so that childrem get less attention. Development of a child is an important part of children’s education. Developing children’s creativity at this age.

Abstract

Research studies is about the application of vintage style in some cafe in Surabaya aims to determine the application of vintage design styles contained in the interior of the cafe Carpentier Kitchen , Canary Cafe , Daily Sweet Cafe , and Stilroad Cafe . Research studies of vintage style design will be carried out in Surabaya with a case study that some cafe in Surabaya that meets the criteria of vintage design styles , including the Carpentier Kitchen , Canary Cafe , Daily Sweet Cafe , and Stilroad Cafe . The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method . Since the purpose of the study was to determine the application of modern design vintage style cafe on the interior of each of which became a case study research . In collecting the data necessary literature studies , interviews , and direct observation to study the object . After the data is collected then proceed with data analysis methods and conclusions drawn in the end. The results of the three studies that cafe be classified as a case study category cafe vintage.

Abstract

Lion dance were  the China’s origin sport and art who are now become the part of Indonesia’s culture. Usually such as another sports and arts lion dance has a long historical background, roles in society life even in political and also true purpose in entertaining as well as educating us. So to represent the things mentioned above writer create the The Design Work of Lion Dance Arena on Surabaya. Hopefully, through this design can be a forum for lion dance lovers in East Java to pour their love of lion dance while preserving the cultural heritage of China and Indonesia.

Abstract

Marine Science Center is a place where people can get various information about the sea, learn and recreation with the family. The main function of the Marine Science Centre is to invite the people to know, to keep, and to conserve the sea and everything on it, to remember that ocean is a very potential resources and we need to preserve it. Some supporting literature are used, like layout planning, air circulation, lighting, and another related elements to achieve an optimal design, in order to attract visitors and the function from the Marine Science Center can be succeed.

Abstract

Interior Design of Eco Hotel in Sendang Biru, Malang is aim to provide lodging facilities in the tourist area of Sendang Biru that give insight and inspiration to the community about the implementation of eco-interior as well as the growing concern for nature. Application of eco-interior aspect of the approach is done through 8 are visible on the facilities that are designed, the lobby, restaurant, outdoor café, gym, spa, bread shop, library, workshops, and hotel rooms. Workshop facility, allowing communities to better understand and recognize eco-interior as well as its application, through information and training related to creativity eco-interior, and invite the community to care for the natural environment is currently experiencing issues, namely global warming. Therefore, designers design a lodging facility that can inspire the public about the application of eco-interior through the application of the building as a hotel and workshop facilities where visitors can better understand the eco-interior with teaching and channeling creativity.

Abstract

Boarding houses are unarguably most favourite place to stay for settled foreigners. For married couples with children, staying in boarding house means that they are in a very tight budget, usually caused by a high economic demands. When a family stay together in one room, the needs of efficient room facilities are high. One of the needs is furniture, it becomes the focus of the problem towards the complexity of the activities happening faced by the whole-family dwellers. The number of the occupants are too high compared to the space available. This issue then results to the lack of moving space, dirty looking room, and negative health and psychological effect to the user. According to the analysis of the survey data, there are three furniture facilities the user needs, i.e. storage facility, work facility (table/surfaces), and sitting facility (to support the work facility). Then the goal of this design is to integrate those three facilites into one furniture. The designed container cabinet becomes the furniture that fulfills the three facilities in terms of functionality and shape, because this furniture have the ideal dimensions to be transformed and according to survery most of occupants in boarding houses have some kind of furniture that resembles container cabinet. Designed using cheap materials, simple joints, and simple usage mechanism, this furniture will be the right solution to solve the existing problem. A furniture that are compact in size, designed with recycled materials (like rattan, refunction pallet, and coconut timber), and have 3-in-1 functions might just become the right innovation for boarding house space problem.
