Abstract

Mustard production at Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District of Batu City has decreased due to low N fertilization efficiency ands low content of N in the soil. Based on the terms of the problem need to be solved and found a solution that is applicable to the use of zeolite as a companion to the fertilizer N. This study was aimed to find out the effect of application of natural zeolit on N fertilization for mustard grown on an Inceptisol from Tulungrejo Village, Bumiaji District of Batu City The results showed that treatment of urea and zeolite (1:1) was capable to produce efficiency of N fertilization with increased of 32.56% compared with urea treatment. Besides the treatment of urea and zeolite (1:1) was capable to produce the highest production with an increase of 15.03% compared with urea treatment.

Abstract

The nutrients in alfisols contain 0,10% of nitrogen, 111,47 ppm of sulfur (P), and 484,5 ppm of potassium (K). Meanwhile, soybean requires no less than 4,29 - 5,50% of nitrogen, 0,26 - 0,50% of phosfor, and 1,71 - 2,50% of potassium. According to the N, in average, cyanobacteria contributes to 30 kg N ha-1 crop season-1. If inoculated to the rhizosphere, the bacteria can produce 337 kg N ha-1. Therefore, researched the use of cyanobacteria as biofertilizer and how it influences to the absorption nutrients and to the soybean growth. This reasearch use complete random design with six to treatments, dosage of biofertilizer. Including : K pot with no treatment; P1 with 14,2 ml polybag1; P2 with 29,4 ml polybag-1; P3 with 44,11 ml polybag-1; P4 with 58,81 ml polybag-1; P5 with 73,51 ml polybag-1. Its was repeated three times. The bacteria increased the total nitrogen in the soil up to 0,21% (P5) and the nitrogen in the plant up to 0,91 mg plant-1 (P4). The maximum height of the soybean was 119,4 cm (P4) and the maximum number of leaves was 73 leaves (P4), both in the age of 42 DAP.

Abstract

Sandy soil has many macro pores that can cause water and soil nutrients difficult to remain at top soil because of leaching. This study was aimed to elucidate the effects of application of biochar, sugarcane boiler ash, and cattle manure on nitrogen leaching and availability in a sandy soil of Asembagus, Situbondo. Treatments tested were without soil amendment (control soil), 10 t biochar ha-1, 10 t sugarcane boiler ash ha-1, 10 t of cattle manure ha-1, combination of 5 t biochar ha-1 + 5 t cattle manure ha-1, and combination of 5 t sugarcane boiler ash ha-1 +  5 t cattle manure ha-1.  The six treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with three replicates. Measurement of leachate was carried out every two week for ten weeks after incubation. The results showed that application of 10 t biochar ha-1 decreased leaching of total nitrogen with more stable than the other treatments. Leaching of total nitrogen in application 10 t biochar ha-1 always decreased at 2 week until 10 week after incubation with the value of 0.10 – 0.29 ppm. On the other treatments and control, the leaching of total nitrogen has a value 0.07-0.77ppm and 0.18 – 1.08 ppm, respectively. The percentage of leachate volume in application of 10 t biochar ha-1 was lower than the control soil and the other treatments with values ranging from 51.45 to 82.46%.

Abstract

The coffee is not only a drink but also become a life style which is increase the consumption of coffee, but the production of coffee in Indonesia is still low. Lahat District classified as an agricultural area with the coffee plant area covering 51.788 ha and the coffee production is 19.692 tons, viewed from the area, the coffee production is still relatively low (BPS Lahat, 2016). The formulation of policies for the development of agricultural areas required the support of information systems such as maps, by utilizing the Geographic Information System (GIS) integrated with the Land Conformity Assessment System (SPKL) program. The purpose of this research is to know the suitability level of robusta coffee plant land, to analyze the availability of land for the development of robusta coffee plant and to arrange the development of robusta coffee plant in Lahat District. The method used in this research is spatial analysis and mapping using GIS integrated with SPKL and field verification activities. The result of this study is Lahat District has a suitability class of coffee plantation including marginal and unsuitable, with 4 limiting factors identified. Lahat District is dominated for intensification with percentage of 76% with 122,140 ha, extensification with 23% percentage with 37,714 ha and diversification with 1% percentage with 2,148 ha area.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to show effects of  zeolit application toward efficiency of P fertilizer, P absorbtion and sweet corn growth. This study was conducted at farmer’s land in Bugul Kidul Sub District, Pasuruan of East Java. This study used a randomized block design consisting of twelve treatments with three repetitions. The treatments tested were 0 t zeolit ha-1 (A0),  4.65 t zeolite  ha-1 (A1), 9.3 t zeolite ha-1 (A2), 0 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F0), 75 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F1), 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F2), and 225 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 (F3). The results showed that zeolite influenced the efficiency of P fertilization. The extending of 9.6 t zeolite ha-1 with combination of 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 had efficiency of P fertilization of 65 %. The utilizing of 9.3 t zeolite ha-1 and 150 kg SP-36 fertilizer ha-1 increased plant height up to 34.8 %, plant fresh weight increased up to 95.7 % and plant dry weight up to 98 %. Those results showed that application of zeolite improved P fertilization efficiency, P absorbtion and sweet corn growth

Abstract

Improvement of soil productivity can be made by application of organic waste. Ne of organic wastes having potential to be used as organic materials is seaweed industry waste. The objective of this study was to find out the effects of application of seaweed industry waste on chemical properties of an Inceptisol and growth of maize. Treatments tested in this study were P1= Urea 100kg ha-1, KCl 100 kg ha-1; P2 = P1 + seaweed industry waste 5 t ha-1; P3 = P1 + seaweed industry waste 10 t ha-1; and P4 = P1 + seaweed industry waste 15 t ha-1.Maize seeds were grown for 45 days. The results showed that application of seaweed industry waste affected soil chemical properties (pH,  C organic, available P, available K, and available K) nutrients uptake by maize (N, P and K uptake), and maize growth.

Abstract

The use of agricultural mechanization in the form of tractors and earth moving will have an impact on soil porosity, soil bulk density and soil's ability to store water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of soil tillage and organic matter (filter cake and boiler ash) on soil porosity and high growth of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.). The experiment used a randomized block design with 5 treatments and 3 replications, K0 = Control (Plowing 2 times + Harrowing 1 time + Furrowing 1 time), K1 = (Plowing 2 times + Harrowing 1 time + Furrowing 1 time filter cake  40 t ha-1 and boiler ash 40 t ha-1 spread), K2 = (Plowing 1 time + Harrowing  1 times + Furrowing 1 times filter cake  40 t ha-1 and boiler ash 40 t ha-1 spread), K3 = (Sub soiling 2 times + Harrowing 1 times + Furrowing 1 time filter cake 40 t ha-1 and boiler ash 40 t ha-1 spread), K4 = (Sub soiling 2 times + Harrowing 1 time + Furrowing 1 time filter cake  40 t ha-1 and boiler ash 40 t ha-1 included in the bolt). Tillage Sub soiling 2 times + Harrowing 1 time + Furrowing 1 time filter cake 40 t ha-1 and boiler ash 40 t ha-1 included in the bolt (K4) was able to increase the porosity of the soil that was equal to 50.2% and increased the sugar cane plant height of 3 MST, 6 and 9 MST, respectively 11.62 cm, 17.35 cm and 34.59 cm

Abstract

The main problem in the Karangduren sugarcane soil is the low availability of soil-P that leads to the low of cane production. The objectives of this study was to determine the effects of filter-cake, sugarcane boiler ash and compost on availability of soil-P and growth of sugarcane at Kebon Agung Sugar Mill in Karangduren village of Malang. The treatments tested were control (P0), sugarcane boiler-ash 60 t ha-1 (P1), compost 3 t ha-1 (P2), filter-cake 60 t ha-1 (P3), sugarcane boiler ash 30 t ha-1 + filter cake 30 t ha-1 (P4), sugarcane boiler ash 15 t ha-1 + filter-cake 45 t ha-1 (P5), and sugarcane boiler ash 30 t ha-1 + filter-cake 30 t ha-1 + bio-fertilizers 80 L ha-1 (P6). Results of the study showed that application of sugarcane boiler ash, filter cake and compost improved chemical characteristics of the soil studied and increased growth of sugarcane up to 4 MAP (months after planting). The best treatment in improving soil chemical characteristics and growth of sugarcane was application of sugarcane boiler ash 60 t ha-1 (P1). Application of sugarcane boiler ash 60 t ha-1 was able to increase soil pH by 6.12%, increasing the content of soil C-Organic by 46.03 % and soil-P availability by 328.39 % compared to soil before treatment. Application of sugarcane boiler ash 60 t ha-1 (P1) was also able to improve growth of sugarcane measured by the cane height, cane length, number of shoots, number of leaves, content of chlorophyll, cane dry weight and P-uptake of sugarcane.

Abstract

Land use changes are factors affecting the occurrence of surface runoff. By using Rational Method, the average yield calculation of surface runoff occurring on 7 February to 10 April 2015 ranged between 1.15 x 10-8 m3 sec-1 or 1.38 L m-2 and 3.75 x 10-8 m3 sec-1 or 2.37 L m-2. By using Chin-ong Meter Method,  the yields of surface runoff occurring on 7 February to 10 April 2015 were 2.6 L m-2, 3.9 L m-2, 5.0 L m-2, 5.8 L m-2, 6.1 L m-2, and 8.3 L m-2, respectively, for forest land use, intensive agricultural land use with apple crops, intensive agricultural land use with orange crops, intensive agricultural land use with beans crops, intensive agricultural land use with ground peanut, and fallow land use. Results of paired t test between the results of Rational Method with Chin-ong Meter Method showed that there were no significant differences with a P-value table of 0.41 > α = 0.05. Area of mechanical and vegetative conservation priorities in Brantas Watershed Upstream Micro with very prone level of runoff were Bulukerto Village of 41.45 ha and Bumiaji Village of 30.74 ha.

Abstract

Nitrogen is needed by plants in a sufficient level. This study was aimed to understand the influence of NPK Kebomas ammonium and nitrate based 25-7-7 combined with Petrobiofertil fertilizer on soil chemical properties and common bean production. Treatments tested in this study were P0 (control), P1-P4 (NPK 25-7-7 + nitrate 0-3%), P5-P8 (NPK 25-7-7 + nitrate 0-3% + Petrobiofertil). The nine treatments were arranged in a randomized block design with three replicates. The results showed that application of NPK fertilizer 25-7-7 combined with Petrobiofertil fertilizer gave significant effects on nitrogen, ammonium, nitrate, phosphorus, potassium and pH of the soil studied. The addition of fertilizer (NPK 25-7-7 + Nitrate 3%) + Petrobiofertil affected plant weights, weight of pods, weight of seeds, weight of skins and the number of pods were higher than other treatments
