Abstract

This article aims to analyze the dawa-communication paradoxes of the salafi-fundamentalits by questioning of what is the da’wah form of salafi-fundamentalist, so it is often labeled as intolerant and the term of fundamentalism is accused of being negative? The study focuses on the case of Masjid Nurul Jami’yyah, Jambi. By using qualitative research conducted with interview, observation and documentation, this paper concludes that da’wah of the salafi group is strickly and rigidly done. They are using the top-down communication approach as a seculer model of communication that tend to force da’wah recipients, and ignoiring the Islamic communication model emphasizing egalitarianism and two ways communication giving the recipient the freedom to accept or reject the da’wah message. The paradox of the salafi dawah lies not in the character or substansce of fundamentalism that they stand for, but in the way of da’wa-communication they use. The term of fundamentalism has absolutely no problem in a person’s religious context. Conversely, improper preaching can make the term fundamentalism being negative.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of promotion and service quality on the trust and loyalty of donors to perform Zakat, Infaq, and Alms in Dompet Dhuafa Riau. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of 312 donors of Dompet Dhuafa Riau. The variable measurement uses a Likert scale with weights from 1 to 5. To analyze the effect of variables X1, X2 on Z through Y using statistical techniques path analysis. To test the level of significance using the t-test. This study found promotion had a positive and significant effect on loyalty, service quality had a positive and significant effect on loyalty, the trust had a positive and significant effect on loyalty, the promotion had an effect on loyalty through trust, and service quality had an effect on loyalty through trust.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the phenomenon of veiled muslim woman communication in Pekanbaru in using social media. This research reveals the communication experience, self-concept, and motives of veiled muslim women through the use of social media, with qualitative methods and phenomenological approaches. The results showed that the experience of veiled muslim women communication using social media from various aspects, with the best experience of meeting new fellow Muslims, to the unpleasant experience was considered a terrorist. Their self-concept in the use of social media is to create a positive self-concept with a friendly nature because the Islamic religion teaches creating good relationships among muslims as the Prophet of Allah exhorts. Other motives, veiled muslim women use social media as a means of promotion for businesses, obtain religious studies, and communication for understanding religious beliefs.

Abstract

This article aims to examine how the representation of Action to Defend Islam in Riau Pos newspaper. Action to Defend Islam shows peaceful action of Muslims which contains messages of da'wah. This study uses qualitative content analysis by Robert N. Entman's model. The news examined was published during the action on 14 October 2017 until 5 May 2017 in the Riau Pos newspaper. The results of this study shows that the Action to Defend Islam contains the message of da'wah to carry out mass actions in peace and ordered; action to defend Alquran; action to obey the leader; and action to strengthen brotherhood among Muslims.

Abstract

The magnificent mosque is not necessarily offset the spirit of the prosperity of the mosque. This is different from the Jogokariyan Mosque in Yogyakarta, in addition to congregational prayers it is also a center of social activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the takmir communication strategy to prosper the Jogokariyan Mosque. This study uses interpersonal communication theory with a descriptive qualitative approach. The informants of this study were four people from the Jogokariyan Mosque. The results of this study are the personal approach strategy is one of the keys to success in building the communication process. Mosque takmir communication with the surrounding community, worshipers, and mosque visitors is carried out persuasively. Takmir Masjid also often holds social activities with the community, both Muslim and non-Muslim. Efforts to make the mosque prosperous through a personal approach, through hobbies that are favored by residents who have not yet prayed. Besides, the mosque takmir seeks to maintain the comfort of guests whether worshiping or just stopping by.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation of the source credibility with the attitudes of Instagram account followers @zaidulakbar regarding the healthy style of Rasulullah (JSR). The method used in research is a quantitative method, with correlational studies aimed at expressing relationships between variables through correlational statistics. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a total sample of 100 followers. Research data was collected by distributing questionnaires containing structured questions and disseminated via the direct message (DM) feature on Instagram. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive data analysis techniques and inferential statistical analysis with the Spearman Rank statistical calculation formula (Rs). The results showed that there is a high correlation between the source credibility with the attitude of Instagram account followers @zaidulakbar of 0.834. The source credibility component consists of expertise, trustworthiness, and attractiveness.

Abstract

This article aims to show Nurcholish Madjid's thoughts on national pluralism and to find its relevance to the issue of dakwah today. This type of research is library research and descriptive qualitative using the method of documentation and study of literature by gathering literature on Nurcholish Madjid thoughts related to pluralism. Content analysis is used to analyze the meaning contained in assumptions, ideas, or statements to get understanding and conclusions. In this article, the author found that the pluralism voiced by Nurcholish Madjid concerned three things, namely, humanity, justice, and tolerance. Given that, the preachers in our times are often found, when delivering their preachs, tend to be in a way that is far from moderation. For this reason, the thinking of Nurcholish Madjid on pluralism is still needed as solution in overcoming the problems of dakwah in the contemporary era.

Abstract

The social laboratory functions for the expansion and strengthening of social science knowledge in universities. This study aims to determine the role and function of social laboratories in strengthening religious values in Tanah Datar District. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. This research found that social laboratory activities started in preparation, programming, implementation, and evaluation. Laboratory activities include religious social literacy, religious social activities, and religious social documentation. The implication of the activity can be seen from the role of the social laboratory in helping the community to develop religious activities. A social laboratory is a place for applying science, especially in the field of community empowerment. The presence of social laboratories is the contribution of universities in the field of developing religious activities.
