Abstract

The aims of the research are to design Automatic Electrical Control Efficiencywith ATMega8 as an indicator of payment and power distribution of rooms in a boardinghouse, and to reveal the effect of Automatic Electrical Control Efficiency withATMega8 as an indicator of electricity payments in a boarding house. The data obtainedfrom the survey and analysis of the condition in the field are 1) on the averagethe electricity cost is determined by the owner of the boarding house and additionalcost is given to every electronic equipment brought to the boarding house, 2) on theaverage the electricity cost for each room is 32,125.00 rupiahs with a total power ofabout 746 Watts, 3) short circuits often happen and affect other rooms, and 4) it ismostly recommended that the electricity payment is based on the power used in therooms. The result of testing the Automatic Electrical Control Efficiency with ATMega8is appropriate to implement in the boarding houses with a relatively low energymanagement. Besides, this implementation will be very helpful as a reference for themonthly transparent electricity payment based on the amount of power used.Automatic Electrical Control Efficiency with ATMega8 works by limiting the powerused in each room and the safety in each room.

Abstract

Student Creativity Program of "Lombok Rawit" standing for Latihan AmongBekso dan Karawitan (practicing dancing and playing gamelan) is motivated by a willto make the traditional Javanese gamelan music and dance as a means of therapy formentally retarded students. Through this program, the mentally retarded children areexpected to be familiar with the Javanese culture, while getting a therapy to reduceemotional and behavioral deviations. This program is implemented to the mentallyretarded children in Special School E Prayuwana Yogyakarta. There are 25 students inthe school. The training was conducted from April to July, 2014. The results achievedafter the training are (1) the increase of the value of the post-test is by 68%. This percentageis obtained from the tabulated results from the instrument, which show areduction in the number of occurrences. The characteristics of mentally retardedchildren are hyperactivity, fear, antisocial, etc. (2) The team of this program manage tohold a simple form of collaborative performances of gamelan and dance by thechildren. (3) The team also manage to compile teaching materials in the form of modulesand CD of gamelan and dance lessons for children so that it can be used widelyby teachers and therapists of mentally retarded children. Based on the results of theprogram, it can be concluded that the training of "Rawit Lombok" can be used as atherapeutic tool for such children. Based on the effectiveness of this program, theteam of the program try to do a follow up in the form of mentoring and socialization,so that a similar program can be applied to other mentally retarded children in otherschools.

Abstract

The research objectives are (1) to find out how Tawaraja dolls are used forstorytelling and (2) to reveal the effectiveness of Tawaraja dolls used for puppetstorytelling and (3) to improve character education. The research was conducted inthe Bahasa Indonesia class in Bantul Timur Elementary School and the subjects werethe grade VB students. The method is research and development. This model isadopted from Borg and Gall’s theory. The steps are information collecting, planning,developing a preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, revising the mainproduct, main field testing, conducting operational product revision, operational fieldtesting, revising the final product revision, and conducting dissemination andimplementation (Ghufron, 2005: 8). The result is the product of Tawaraja dolls aslearning media which are effective in developing the students’ character.

Abstract

The research is aimed at revealing the murottal therapy process given to ADHDchildren and to find out the effect of the therapy on the hyperactive-impulsive behavioursof the ADHD children. The method employed in this research is Subject SingleResearch (SSR) method using the A-B-A design. The subjects of the reasearch are thethird grade students of a special school. The data were collected through observations.The research findings show that the murottal therapy cann reduce the hyperactivityand impulsiveness level among the ADHD children. Such a theraphy positively affectsthe calmness condition of the ADHD children.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to find out whether the extract of kelor(Moringa oleifera) leaves can be used as antibacteria of decomposer bacteria (Pseudomonasaeruginosa) in fresh fish and to find out the most effective concentration ofkelor extract as antibacteria. The research starts with making the extract of kelor(Moringa oleifera) leaves by using maceration technique. The next step is makingNatrium Agar (NA) as the medium for growing the bacteria and the third step istesting the extract of kelor (Moringa oleifera) leaves on the bacteria (Pseudomonasaeruginosa) by using the aseptic technique and streak plate method. The bacteriawere incubated for approximately 24 hours in the room temperature. Next, thediameter of the clearzone produced in each treatment is measured. In this researchthere are five variations of kelor leaf extract concentrations, namely 0%, 25 %, 50%,75%, and 100% with five repetitions. Based on the SPSS analysis using Anava testing,the significance level is 0.007 ≥ 0.005. It shows those five treatments of giving theextract of kelor leaves with the concentrations of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% donot significantly affectthe activities of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. Based on theresult of the observation, the average length of the diameter of clear zone on theextract concentration of 50% is the biggest, which is 1 mm long. Thus, it can be concludedthat the extract of kelor (Moringa oleifera) leaves can be used as antibacteriafor the decomposer (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria of fresh fish.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) to find out the application of Sapi Perah learningmedia to the grade IV SDN Samirono, (2) to find out the process of learning history ofHinduism and Buddhism through the use of Sapi Perah learning media, and (3) toreveal the improvement of the understanding and learning ability of grade IV studentsof Samirono Elementary School. The method used is classroom action researchinvolving two cycles. In the first cycle, the students were given a description of thehistory of Hinduism and Buddhism. Then, they were given a pre test on the materialthat has been taught and tried to apply the Sapi Perah learning media. However, theresults were not satisfying because they were not enthusiastic in learning. The secondcycle was conducted by applying the learning media of Sapi Perah again. In the secondcycle optimal results were obtained. The students’ learning outcomes of the history ofHinduism and Buddhism improved. The results of this research are (1) the applicationof a learning media Sapi Perah can improve the students’ understanding of the historyof Hinduism and Buddhism and (2) the learning process in the classroom becomesmore interesting because of the use of the media of Sapi Perah.

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe the implementation of character educationin the “Seni Karawitan (Sekar)” extracurricular activity in Kauman State ElementarySchool. The study used a descriptive qualitative method. This research was conductedby using an observation technique. The students who joined the Seni Karawitan extracurricularactivity were observed. Character education is implemented in that activity.The steps in this research include finding the problem, formulating the hypothesis,collecting the relevant data, analyzing the data, and testing the hypothesis. The resultsof this study show the character education is implemented in the Seni Karawitanextracurricular activity as an effort to grow the character in the young age. The implementationis done through the attitudes and actions that have to be performed by thestudents when they play gamelan and sang Javanese songs. Seni Karawitan has thevalues of togetherness, leadership, patience, responsibility, politeness, loving the culture,religiousity, gentleness, honesty, discipline, model, concentration, tolerance,happiness, and education. The values reflect the characters that have to be preservedand respected in the daily life. The students of Kauman State Elementary School aremore focused on some values, namely togetherness, patience, leadership, politeness,loving the culture, and responsibility.

Abstract

The objective of the research is to produce a Wellness Evaluation of Lifestyle(WEL) inventory for teenagers. The method is research and development by adaptingthe existing Wellness Evaluation of Lifestyle. The subjects of the research are 56students of State Junior High School 9 Yogyakarta and State Senior High School 4Yogyakarta. This reseacrh produces a Wellness Evaluation of Lifestyle (WEL) whichmeets the cultural condition, character, religion, and bahasa Indonesia. In the items ofthe Wellness Evaluation of Lifestyle (WEL) inventori there are 17 components ofwellness from the Wheel of Wellness, namely 1) creativity and problem solving, 2)control feeling, 3) coping and emotional awareness, 4) senseof humour, 5) occupation,6) spare time, 7) stress management, 8) feeling of deserving, 9) realistic belief, 10)friendship, 11) love, 12) spirituality, 13) self care, 14) gender identity, 15) culturalidentity, 16) nutrition, dan 17) exercise, elaborated in the statements. In the WellnessEvaluation of Lifestyle (WEL) inventory in bahasa Indonesia there are 123 statementsrelated to wellness and 6 additional questions. The validity testing in the developmentof WEL inventory uses an expert judgement and the reliability of the inventory whichis 0.939 uses alpha cronbach 0.70 so the inventory can be used as a tool to identify thestudents’ wellness as the basis for the guidance and counseling service.

Abstract

The student creativity program in community services is aimed at using musicalpoems as the media to improve the vocabularies of deaf children and internalizingmoral values into them. The methods are lecturing, demonstration, practice and performance.The performance of musical poems is to build children’s self confidence.The activities took four months for the program preparation, implementation andthen evaluation. The program is carried out among six students of Widya Mulia SpecialSchool, Pundong, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The use of musical poem is found to improvethe vocabularies of deaf children. It is shown in their written and spoken communication.Besides, the children are able to enact moral values such as religiousity, confidence,autonomy, discipline and honesty. Musical poems are suitable to be implementedamong deaf children based on their level of hearing ability. Therefore, theprogram successfully solves the deaf children’ problems in language learning. It isrecommended that teachers in the school implement the program for developing deafchildren’s language skills. The children are also able to share knowledge and experiencesto others for a better life.
