<![CDATA[Institusional repository (IR) is an information resource getting spread in some university libraries in Indonesia in the last ten years, including UIN Sunan Kalijaga library. IR as to be an important information resource alternative to the user on acessing information are produced by UIN Sunan Kalijaga academicians. The study aim to know some aspects on IR content aquisition was generated by UIN Sunan Kalijaga library, and how the strategy on encreasing the academicians angagement in IR content acquisition. The study find that the self upload policy of the academician works, and the rectorâs decision that all of academician must submit their works to the library as the important things on increasing the academician engagement in the IR content acquisition.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstrak; Institutional respository  telah menjadi perhatian utama pada lembaga pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia. Perkembangan jumlah institutional repository  meningkat salah satunya setelah muncul pemeringkatan  web of repositories yang dilakukan oleh the Cybermetrics Lab pada tahun 2008. Mulai saat itu perguruan tinggi berlomba membangun  institutional repository  dalam mengelola karya ilmiah  dan berusaha agar peringkat mereka lebih baik. Hal ini merupakan suatu bukti pencapaian kinerja yang dapat menjadi sarana promosi dan meningkatkan visibilitas bagi lembaga. Universitas Surabaya melalui perpustakaan juga termasuk salah satu yang mengembangkan institutional repository. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisa terhadap konten yang tersedia serta kebijakan akses institutional repository Universitas Surabaya yang ditetapkan dalam memberikan layanan kepada sivitas akademika dan pengguna dari luar. Metode dalam kajian ini menggunakan observasi terhadap institutional repository Universitas Surabaya dengan tinjauan pustaka untuk menjelaskan analisis konten dan kebijakan akses. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran perpustakaan yang mendapatkan wewenang untuk mengelola karya ilmiah sivitas akademika Universitas Surabaya dapat dilakukan dengan baik melalui institutional repository. Namun demikian masih perlu dilakukan upaya lebih proaktif bagi perpustakaan dalam melakukan sosialisasi peraturan tentang wajib serah simpan karya ilmiah, dan promosi secara intensif dengan menyampaikan berbagai keuntungan dalam pemanfaatan institutional repository.Abstract; Institutional repository has become a major concern of higher education in Indonesia. The number of institutional respository was increased, one of the reason is the ranking web of repositories has been conducted by the Cybermetrics Lab in 2008. At that time, many institutions started to build institutional repository in order to manage the scientific work and also trying to reach the better ranks. Meanwhile, it is an achievement of institution performance which can be promote and increase visibility for the institution. University of Surabaya has also developed the institutional repository and managed by the library. The aims of this study is to analyze the content availability and access policies defined by the University of Surabaya repository providing services to the academic community and external users. The method used in this study by using observations of the institutional repository University of Surabaya with a literature review to clarify the analysis of the content and access policies. The results of this study indicate that the librarys role is has the authority to manage the scientific work of academic community can be done through the institutional repository. However there is still need for library to be proactive to communicate regulations on mandatory deposit of scientific work and create intensive promotion of the institutional repository. ]]>

Although this country had copy right law (UU No. 19 Tahun 2002), but the number of plagiarism is still high. Library as a information resources has important role to decrease the number of plagiarism. <![CDATA[Reading has proven to be an important activity for human being. Hence, a librarian, as an information provider, should have a good reading interest. The research was aimed to examine the correlation between librarians reading interest and the development of Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University library. The research is of a quantitative one, using the librarians reading interest as an independent variable and the development of the library as a dependent one. The result of the research shows that there is a significant effect of the librarians reading interest toward the development of the university library. The result gives a quite high value of the librarians reading interest and the library development variable by a grand mean of 2,96 and 3.03 consecutively. The simple linear regression experiment using linear regression coefficient provides that Y=29,811 + 0,562X. The constant 29,811 means that if there is no increase in the librarians reading interest, the library development value is 29,811. While regression coefficient 0.562 provides that each increase of the librarians reading interest raises the library development value by 0.562. The research puts recommendation that each librarian should be provided time to read book every day]]>

<![CDATA[Para ilmuwan sejak beberapa abad yang lalu telah melakukan aktivitas komunikasi ilmiah secara formal dalam rangka penyebaran ilmu pengetahuan serta hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukannya. Penggunaan media pada saat itu masih berupa selebaran hasil penelitian dalam karangan ilmiah atau melalui sebuah buku. Sampai pada saat diterbitkannya sebuah majalah, para peneliti telah serius menerbitkan tulisan-tulisan mereka pada media tersebut, karena selain penerbitannya lebih teratur, juga akan lebih cepat daripada proses penerbitan sebuah buku. Seiring perkembangan pengetahuan serta teknologi, penggunaan media cetak untuk penyebaran ilmu pengetahuan secara bertahap telah berganti pada media elektronik. Perpustakaan, yang dalam hal ini telah berkembang menjadi lembaga pengelola ilmu pengetahuan memiliki peran cukup penting dalam penyebaran ilmu pengetahuan dengan media-medianya serta fungsinya sebagai sarana komunikasi ilmiah. Dalam tulisan ini akan dipaparkan mengenai peran dan usaha perpustakaan dalam membangun media komunikasi ilmiah. Diantaranya ialah dengan pengelolaan jurnal secara elektronik yang akan membawa perubahan terhadap media komunikasi tersebut.  Hasilnya ialah perlu adanya kajian lebih lanjut mengenai media-media yang dibangun oleh perpustakaan terhadap berlangsungnya komunikasi lmiah. A significant increase in the development of repositories is expected with technology and process improvements for digital collection development. Current information technology requires interoperabilty between systems that facilitate the exchange of data and information. Use of the web based applications and data through oen archives initiative (OAI) protocol or the other systems can be a bridge to access the local digital collection. this study discusses about the implementation of information systems using free software eprints. <![CDATA[ABSTRAKTujuan makalah ini untuk: (1) memberikan informasi hasil preview kebijakan OAJ, khususnya jurnal bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang terbit secara online; dan (2) mengetahui berbagai upaya yang dapat dilakukan pustakawan dalam peningkatan kualitas jurnal dan mendukung gerakan OAJ di Indonesia. Metode kajian menggunakan studi literatur dan penelusuran jurnal di Portal Garuda â IPI. Data kajian dijabarkan secara deskriptif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) jurnal bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang terbit secara online di Indonesia sebagian besar belum menginformasikan pernyataan kebijakan OAJ secara jelas dan lengkap di situs jurnal; dan (2) diperlukan peran aktif pustakawan dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas jurnal dan mendukung gerakan OAJ di Indonesia, khususnya jurnal bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi.ABSTRACTThe purpose of this paper is: (1) to provide information about OAJ policy preview results, especially the journal of library and information science in Indonesia which is published online and (2) to know the various ways from librarians in improving journal quality and support OAJ movement in Indonesia. The study methods use literature study and journal tracking at Portal Garuda - IPI. The data assessment were reported descriptively. The results of the study show that (1) the journal of library and information science published online in Indonesia has not informed the OAJ policy statement on the journal website; and (2) need the active role of librarians in efforts to improve the quality of journals and support OAJ in Indonesia, especially in the field of library and information science.]]>
