Abstract

This research aimed to describe about whether or not the use of jigsaw technique significantly builds up the speaking achievement of participants of PIBA of UIN Alauddin Makassar and the use of jigsaw technique interesting to the participants of PIBA of UIN Alauddin Makassar. This research applied quasi experimental research and it employed purposive sampling technique. Two groups of the advance level of PIBA academic year 2012/ 2013 of UIN Alauddin Makassar. There are 30 participants from experimental group and 30 participants from control group. The data were collected using test and questionnaire. The data of students’ learning achievement on English speaking collected by using questionnaire. Those data were then analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The result of data analysis indicated that the jigsaw techniques built up significantly the students speaking achievement of advance levels after the treatment. Jigsaw technique effective in improving English speaking achievement of the students better than conventional activity as indicated by the T-Test value 24.403 and the P-Value (2 tailed). 000 which was not greater than 0.5 level of significance, and the students were interested in learning English speaking using Jigsaw technique which was indicated the mean score 85.97. It means that the students were classified very high interested students.

Abstract

Modalities in Political Debate Discourse. This study is aimed at investigating modalities used by the speakers of political debate in two countries; Indonesia and USA. This study is a comparative study which uses descriptive qualitative in analysing and displaying data. Both data were taken from youtube.com on April 2014. Firstly, the result of this study shows that the speakers of political debate in Indonesia and America used three values of modality; high, median and low value of modality. A way of choosing modalities does not only with a correct grammar; but also from the functional point of view. Politicians tended to use high value of modality to show their high commitment toward opinion or argument, and presenter tended to use median and low values of modality in offering the other speakers rather than the high value of modality; although the presenter actually wanted to state a requirement that should be followed. Lastly, the English speakers are more explicit to put their selves as the subject of assessment rather than the Indonesian speakers of political debate.

Abstract

Muslims regard him as a great civilization. But in Indonrsia, Muslims were not able to demonstrate the existence of the Islamic civilization, because in general, Muslim nations are under the feet of colonization, poor, in ignorance and backwardness. In the perspective of the Qur'an, the quality of a person is determined by his faith in Allah. Is being determined by the quality of the faith of its science,; while quality is determined by the extent to which science has been practiced. Practice-practice knowledge that is based on the true faith of both physical-material and moral-spiritual that is, in essence, "Islamic civilization" and it was also the real wealth for every believer.

Abstract

The histoy of Islamic spreading in South Sulawesi in 16-17 th century was determined by four factors, namely ; king, merchant, culture and ulama (preachers). From the four aspects, king was the dominant factor to influence the others. However, social communications resulted by moslem merchants also brought about the mutual understanding, so they (merchants) together with the religion (Islam) they were bringing were not considered strage by local community. The educated and enlightened merchants could muchly influence the social psychology that make people interested in adhering Islam as their religion.

Abstract

Reading (qira'ah) is a process to find the language. It can be done directly by children (acquisition) to find the first language, and can also be done by adults whose study the second language by formal learning. The teaching-reading method is a system to easily apply the activity relating to the present of subject to find the meaning of the reading text. The purpose of teaching reading is to grow and improve the reading skill which consist of: to recognize the Arabic alphabet or letter symbols and to understand the reading content. In teaching reading, method is appropriated by the kind and the teaching purpose as partial method used to recognize arabic symbols or alphabet which can be compound word, and the analysis method is used to understand reading content by several methods like; reading aloud, strategy of random text, reading guide, reading silent etc.

Abstract

Imam Shafi'i is a mujtahid/scholar who has created a masterpiece in the world of Islam. He is the first composer who determine the ushul fiqh as a discipline that can be used to Islamic law students. He is popular as a moderate thinkir where his thought that combining between who emphasise their thought in al-ra'y (logocal view) and sunnah/traditions. His main work in the field of jurisprudence, namely al-Risala and al-Umm. Imam Shafi’i’s thoght/ijtihad finally was formed as a mazhab in Islamic law/fiqhi.

Abstract

Sumatera stores many cultural works of ancestors, particularly those in the province of Bangka Belitung Islands. One of them is the book of Rāhatu Ṣālihin wa Ṣowā‘iqu Al-Munafiqīn which is a religious script written in Arabic language and has several overarching articles for the advancement of islamic religious knowladge this research examined the manuscript in depth. This study revealed that the manuscript contains wich information about the articles conveering with worship procedures for muslim. Method of philology was used in the research by applying steps such as inventory of manuscript, description of manuscript, editing of manuscript, text translation and analysis of the manuscript contents.

Abstract

This writing critically studies the relation between Islam and Archipelago Local culture base on Islamic and cultural perspective. Based on this writing, there is culture in Islam, and there are Islamic values in culture. Islam needs culture in spreading its mission, either in the form of tradition, art, norms etc. Some ulamas and missionaries in the very early of Islam resurrection in this country realized that the Islamic spreading had to be running peacefully, thus to avoid the conflict between religion and culture, the ulama spread Islamic missing using local wisdom approaches, thus the confrontation between the both could be ignored.

Abstract

Something important to know is understanding Asmaul Husna in al-Quran. This writing discusses some points of al-Asma a-Husna that contains close meaning with the values of human life. Mankind will be more progress, civilized, prosperious and can stand on its own feet, if they always implement the values of Asmaul Husna, both indivually or socially, this is because Asmaul Husna is the essence or heart of religion. Thus, Allah has ever reminded those who do shalat (pray) to implement its values in daily life. The values of shalat are reflected in Asmaul Husna.
