Indonesian Journal of Disability Studies (SINTA 3 accredited) is an academic peer reviewed journal published by Center for Disability Services (CDSS), University of Brawijaya (UB), Malang, Indonesia. <![CDATA[This study aims to evaluate the inclusion of inclusive education in Magetan. This research is a descriptive quantitative research conducted on 5 elementary and middle school providers of inclusive education in Magetan. The sampling technique uses purposive random sampling. Data collection technique in this research is using questionnaire in the form of Self Evaluation Instrument Inclusion School developed by Yusuf (2014). Data analysis technique is using descriptive statistics. The results show that inclusive education in Magetan is classified as a good criterion where there is an average of 64% of 9 dimensions of inclusive education in accordance with the standard with the following details: Institutional aspect 74% (good), curriculum aspect 83% (excellent), 60% and good (60%), 60% (good), 58% (medium), 51% human resources aspect 58% (medium), facilities and infrastructure aspects 17% (very less), community participation aspect 63% (good), and financing aspects 46% (medium).]]>

<![CDATA[Pentingnya e-government, terutama website pemerintah dalam memberikan informasi menuntut website pemerintah dapat diakses oleh semua kalangan, terutama penyandang disabilitas. Untuk mengukur aksesibilitas suatu situs web pemerintah digunakan pedoman yaitu Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (WCAG). Untuk bisa dikatakan aksesibel, sebuah situs web harus mampu memenuhi standar level minimum dari WCAG, yaitu level A. Tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui aksesibilitas e-government bagi penyandang disabilitas di berkembang dan negara maju dengan menggunakan metode systematic literature review. Menurut hasil yang ditemukan, masih banyak negara yang belum menyediakan e-government yang aksesibel bagi penyandang disabilitas, baik dari negara maju maupun negara berkembang. Akan tetapi, negara maju memiliki e-government yang lebih aksesibel dibandingkan e-government di negara berkembang yang disebabkan factor kuatnya kebijakan pemerintah mengenai penyandang disabilitas. Sedangkan factor lain yang berpengaruh adalah kesadaran pemerintah dan masyarakat mengenai aksesibilitas. Dari hasil tersebut penelitian ini merekomendasi untuk dilakukan penelitian mengenai pentingnya aksesibilitas e-government bagi penyandang disabilitas untuk tercapainya kesetaraan hak para penyandang disabilitas untuk menerima aksesibilitas informasi.]]>

<![CDATA[The learning of the Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) focused on the diversity of abilities and potential of students. This need can be facilitated by modifying the curriculum based on assessment of students, which is then used as the basis for making the Program Pembelajaran Individu (PPI). The study was conducted on Jakarta SLBN X teachers who began to modify the curriculum, but were not yet maximal. The study uses quantitative methods with qualitative data as supporting data. Quantitative data was obtained through measuring instruments of knowledge and attitudes towards the making of PPIs filled by 29 teachers. While qualitative data was obtained through interviews with nine teachers based on the results of quantitative data categorization (lacking, sufficient, good). The results showed that 34% had insufficient knowledge, 59% were sufficient, and 7% were good about making PPIs. While 45% of teachers have a lack of attitude and are quite positive, and 10% of teachers are categorized as good in their attitude towards making PPIs. Different tests show there are differences in the attitudes of teachers who have and have never attended workshops on handling students with special needs. Qualitative data shows that the factors that play a role in making PPI are lack of knowledge of teachers in making PPIs, regulations in schools that have not required the making of PPIs, and lack of time to prepare PPIs.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of thus research was to determine the influence of icebreaker in enhancing students achievement on mathematic of the children with mild intellectual. Disability of grade IV of SLB Putra Manunggal Gombong in the academic year of 2017 / 2018. This research used quantitative approach with the pre-experimental design using one group pre-test post-test design. The subject of this research were eight students with mild intellectual disability of grade IV of SLB Putra Manunggal Gombong in the academic year of 2017 / 2018. The technique was objective test in the form of multiple choice . the obtained data were analyzed quantitatively with Wilcoxin Sign Rank Test non parametric statistical analysis using 23 SPSS program. Based on the data analysys the post-test mean score of the research subject increased significantly, pre-test mean score was 63,12 and post-test mean score was 77,12. The result of non-parametric statistical analysis showed the score of 2 value= -2,530 with Asymp. Sig (2 tailed) = 0,011 which under 0,05 is smaller than a predetermined significance level or 0,011 < 0,05. It can be concluded that the use of icebreaker had influence in enhancing students achievement on mathematics of the children with mild intellectual disability of grade IV of SLB Putra Manunggal Gombong in the academic year of 2017/2018.]]>

<![CDATA[Despite discrimination, isolation and marginalization, many African University students with disabilities engage in sexual relationships. Some of these relationships involve only those with disability and others are between those with and those without disability. This paper discusses the opportunities, experiences, challenges and strategies that University students with hearing, physical and visual disabilities have to start and maintain sexual relationships at Kyambogo University, Uganda. Results show that their sexual behaviours are shaped by their perceptions, the environment and African culture and traditions rooted in African Ubuntu philosophy. The conclusion is that the university provided opportunities and challenges to their sexual relationships and that those with positive attitudes enjoy healthy sexual relationships and were also better able to deal with relationship pressures that might negatively affect their relationships.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to determine the efforts of extraordinary schools in improving social skills competence as an effort to prepare for careers of children with special needs. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. This research was conducted at SLB N Sukoharjo, SLB N Surakarta and SLB N Colomadu. Subjects in this study were six teachers and three principals in the Special School which were used as research sites. Research data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis technique in this study uses descriptive analysis. The results showed that efforts to improve social skills competencies to prepare for careers of children with special needs in extraordinary schools were carried out through the learning of social science. The social skill material taught is adapted to the child's ability. Barriers that occur in efforts to improve social skills are lack of parental support and a less inclusive social environment. The solution, schools can socialize with parents to teach social skills at home and socialization to the community environment to become an inclusive society.]]>

<![CDATA[In developing countries the quality of life of their citizens is far from democratic principles. Many are found in public spaces that not support the existence of accessible services for persons with disabilities. Among many exclusion issues, this essay wants to focus on disability, which is related to the low attention of the government to people with disabilities' accessibility and representation. Social exclusion especially to people with disabilities strongly related to the concept of power relation. This implies that the social transformation (democratisation) will occur when the political system guarantees the power and power relations to be recognised by each individual in the society. Using "power relation" concept in Foucauldian perspective in analyzing social policy of four South East Asian governments, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippine, this shows that there is a need for a review of the democratization process.]]>

<![CDATA[Elder siblings play an important role in the family such as being a replacement caregiver for the children with Down syndrome. Therefore, they need an effective psychological adjustment to fulfill the responsibility. The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of psychological adjustment in elder siblings of a Down syndrome children. This research was done using narrative qualitative method by interviewing and observing four elder siblings' of children with Down syndrome. Each participants have different combinations of age-spacing with the Down syndrome children and number of siblings. The result shows some variety of effectiveness of psychological adjustment within each participants. The variety was caused by some individual factors, such as parents involvement and siblings' relationship quality.]]>

<![CDATA[The aim of this study is to explore the decision-making process of working resignation passed by mothers with Down syndrome children. Children with Down syndrome need more attention because of their limitations in terms of cognitive, behavior and health. Mother's role is needed to optimize their development. However, being full time mothers is not easy. In the case of families with economic limitations, mothers often have to work. Further more, Down syndrome children need special care and education that require large costs. Therefore, mothers will go through a long process with various considerations when she decided to resign. This research uses qualitative method through narrative approach. This study used semi structured interviews with three mothers of Down syndrome children that decided resign from work and take care of her child. The result of this research show that three mothers have gone through the process of decision making with different dynamics, depends on the child's condition.]]>
