Abstract

Urban area as one of the busiest space than another spaces that have various applied systems on it. The complexity of social, economic, ecology and culture systems in urban area was needed an effective and efficience management method toward urban sustainable livelihood. Nowadays, the eco-city development in Surabaya City, Indonesia and Lubhu Urban Area, Kathmandu Valley, Nepal has been developed. In addition, it was emerging some problems between the stakeholders. The research aims are identifying and mapping the potential conflict of stakeholder also conceiving new management strategy to reduce its conflict impacts. This research is important because it will define a simulation with stakeholder analysis as its approach through journals and reports. The research method supported by recent condition about those cities. The conclusion of this research shows that all stakeholders have spesific roles between each other. Logically, the more stakeholder involved the more its roles overlaped. Not only Lubhu Urban Area which have the waste water and solid waste problems, but also Surabaya City. The problems caused by socio-politic conflicts and lack of awareness and contribution between private and public sectors. The alternative solution is integrating the interest between public and private sectors with fully support from political stakeholder. Keywords: Development, Eco-city, Potential Conflict, Stakeholders, Surabaya, Lubhu.

Abstract

Since 1960's the government of Indonesia has intensively built structural mitigation infrastructure on the slopes of Merapi before it erupted in 2010. In the other hand, the community has been introduced cultural mitigation inherited by their ancestors. The problem is the way how they understand both mitigation models. This study aims to determine people's interpretation towards cultural and structural mitigation before and after the eruption of Merapi volcano in 2010. The study used in-depth interviews method to victims of Merapi eruption in 2010, who live in disaster prone areas (KRB) II and III on the southern slope of Kepuharjo and Umbulharjo village, Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The hermeneutic analysis is applied to interpretative ideas associated with an analog understood from the oral and textual data. The analysis is supported by the historical literature, which gives an overview of Merapi for its community in the past. The study results that people’s interpretation of cultural and structural mitigation in Merapi society can be divided into two based on time before and after its eruption in 2010. The first groups or ones with ideas before the eruption, cultural mitigation is more meaningful for them and after eruption they combine it as an integrated cultural and structural mitigation. While the second community, before and after eruption, they have already made sense of integrated cultural and structural mitigation. In cultural mitigation, in interacting with nature, they understand about the fate of life that comes from the Javanese philosophy and beliefs of the Merapi volcano. In structural mitigation, the government constructs people to make sense that based on scientific rationality their life with nature on the slopes of Merapi volcano can emerge a risk of disaster anytime. Keywords: interpretation, mitigation, cultural, structural.

Abstract

The most visible of the city development defined by the physical aspect such as the growth of the built-up area. The continuity of built-up area’s growth will decrease the carrying capacity of the region. In term of urban planning is worth considering the provision of green open space which is has the function of environmental protection. One of urban green open space named agriculture. Farming the urban area now is popular with Urban Farming. The benefits of urban farming are (1) increasing the income level of city; (2) building up the job opportunity; and (3) optimizing the urban space. This research takes place in Yogyakarta to inventory and to describe the urgency of urban farming. This research uses qualitative descriptive method by analyzing secondary data and surveying in sample spots of Urban Farming been done. Sample spots are decided by purposive sampling in kampong hijau (the green kampong) Yogyakarta. The result is in green kampong are mostly planted by consumption plants and ornamental plants. It is being urgent alternative to be done in limited area where women and people are not only competitive again for working but also help them fulfilling the daily consumption on farming products and environmental preservation. Keywords: Urban Farming, Green Kampong, Yogyakarta, Identification, Urgency

Abstract

In this modern age, the increase of human population is proportional to the need for airport development services, including air transportation. In Indonesia, the development of air transportation services can be seen from the increase of both passenger numbers and goods transported during the last 5 years, including at Juanda Airport in East Java. The aim of this research wasto create an airport scenario based on the number of forcasted domestic air passengers. Globally, air passenger forcasting has been one of the most important policy tools used by decision makers. The growth in air passenger numbersin the future can be forecasted based on a time series analitical approach such as multivariate time series, for example the transfer function model as multivariate time series, and ARIMA Box Jenkins as univariate time series . In transfer function method, the input series is the number of aircrafts, inflation, oil prices, while the output series is the number of passengers. Based on Outsample criteria, the best model to forecast the number of domestic passengers at the Juanda airport is univariate time series models, ARIMA(1,1,0)(1,0,0) 12 due to its minimum RMSE values. The best model obtained implied that the forecastednumber of domestic passengers at Juanda airport this month was related to the number of passengers at 1, 2, 12, 13, 14 months earlier. The result of this research indicatedthat theforecastedvalue of domestic air passengers at Juanda airport for 5 years with ARIMA(1,1,0)(1,0,0) Jurnal Tata Kota dan Daerah Volume 6, Nomor 1, Juli 2014 21 12 , ie from January 2012 to December 2016, would increase gradually each year. Therefore, PT Angkasa Pura 1 should make a scenario to expand the capacity of aiports in order to accommodatethe increase of air passengers in the future, expecially at Juanda Airport. Keywords: passengers, aircraft, inflation, oil prices, transfer function

Abstract

Tunjungan area is the center of Surabaya covering Embong Malang - Blauran - Praban - Tunjungan. As a business center, building facade in the area can not be separated from the existence of outdoor advertisement, or in this study, will be named as sign. In fact, private signs outside the buildings alongside the corridor are experiencing visual disharmony order with their facade based on the fact that the buildings are preserved by Heritage Act. As a result, building image along the corridor as heritage preservation area is deteoriating. Therefore, factors, criteria, principles, and arrangement concept of sign arrangement which appropriately match with the image of conservation area are needed. The study consists of image assessment, conservation building character assessment, sign and precedent assessment. The result of the study has four aspects: aesthetic, building, effectiveness, and safety aspects which have their own constituent component. The study is a descriptive research with rationalistic method of approach which combines empirical evidence and building facade arrangement ethics at preservation area. By using Urban Design Methods by Moughtin (1999), four process is carried out in this study: analysis - synthesis - appraisal - decision. The corridor and buildings at the area are analyzed using main technique: Walkthrough Analysis and Character Appraisal. Then the analysis is evaluated and cross checked with the selected references to get criteria, preparation of design concepts, and to provide guidance for the arrangement of building sign along Tunjungan corridor.Through these methods, it can be identified functional design criteria, design concept, and technical referral based on evaluation of arrangement aspects. Based on the assessment, the result of the study are: conservation area representative sign, maintain the integrity of conservation building, effectiveness and efficiency for sign readers, as well as maintaining the safety of road users and the strength of building structure due to the placement of a sign mounted on the building. Keywords: Heritage, Image of Conservation Area, Methods, Sign

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with 54 million informal economic sector actors. Many sidewalks with street vendors have been researched to obtain the general phenomena of the informal sector. In the other hand, Indonesian government still has no considerable action to manage these cases. Kaliurang Street is one of the streets filled with informal sectors. the street is situated in the heart of Yogyakarta Agglomeration Area (YAA). More than IDR 200 million per year or approximately IDR 1,000 of retribution per day (minimumly) have been paid by street vendors to the local government. Physically, pedestrians need wider walking tracks and separators between walking activity and trading .There are four alternatives of intervention by combining the two needs of economic and pedestrian sidewalks function. Creative is not defined merely as an artistic thing anymore, but thinking out of the box in uncertainty problems solving. Multipurpose space in pedestrian sidewalks means space in pedestrian sidewalk that is used not only for pedestrian, but also activities of street vendor, while on street parking is definitely argued to be reduced. Furthermore, it is hopefully followed by more research about creative physical design in urban contexts in facing the informal economic sector realm as Indonesia will face forward. Keywords: Pedestrian Sidewalks, Multipurpose Space, Design

Abstract

Open green spaces for urban people who live in city is something that cannot be separated with their lives. The importance of open green spaces could support the aesthetic value and beauty open green spaces and also provide a cooler micro-climate by maintaining the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide, reducing pollutants and help maintain availability of ground water. Based on the existing problems, the researcher tries to analyze how the conditions of the existing open green spaces in the LLBK Village Kupang today, and how the concept of green spaces planning is needed in the LLBK Village Kupang. The research is conducted in the LLBK Village for four months from August to December 2013. Data collecting techniques used in this study is field observation to obtain secondary data and primary data, while the data analysis techniques used in this study is a descriptive analysis under the qualitative paradigm. The result of the analysis showed the arrangement of open green spaces in LLBK village faces a number of problems due to the LLBK village as economic/trading center, coastal areas, the old town and cultural heritage. The development of facilities and infrastructure needs resulting in an area of open green space that is difficult to develop. Based on the results of observations, it is known that there is open green space at LLBK consists of Kopan coastal city park, open parking in Siliwangi road, coastal border, and a roof garden with a total area of 0.74 ha reaches 6.38% or urban at the total of LLBK area of 11.6 hectares or 116,000 m 2 . The concept of open green spaces planning in LLBK is analyzed based on the following components: 1) The principle of the physical environment that includes vegetation, soil, and water. 2) The principle ingredients include: pedestrian, vehicle lanes, parking lots, building support, signs (signage), open space, landscape equipment, network utilities. 3) Management Principles and Design include: construction of protection, utility management. While the type of open green spaces can be developed consisting of public open green spaces (city park, coastal town, open road parking Siliwangi, coastal border) and private open green spaces (courtyard house, roof garden, office) to improve environmental quality in the area as well as contributing collectively to open green spaces. Keywords: open green spaces, old city.

Abstract

Food security can be affected by infrastructure and social economic condition. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of infrastructure and social-economic condition on rice price with path analysis. The second purpose of this research is to analyze the food purchasing power of people in Malang Regency as the indicator of food security. And then the third purpose is to analyze the effect of infrastructure and social-economic condition on food security based on exploratory data analysis (EDA). This research provides coefficient of the effect of infrastructure and social-economic condition on rice price, Y 1 = 2.917,99 + 0,54 X – 2,06 X 4 + 1,72 X , it means that rice price has a positive correlation with the price of substitutes goods, and road conditions. Rice price also has a negative correlation with the number of poor family, rice productivity, and width of road. The higher the price of some goods, the higher people’s expenditures, and finally people’s purchasing power become weaker. Generally, there is a correlation between infrastructure and social economic condition. This finding should encourage government to pay more attention to infrastructure and social sector in order to reach food security. Keywords: Infrastructure, Social-economic Condition, Food Security
